Do a search for previous posts on buying from them. Wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, both the company owners are banned from being company directors.

I bought some Phillips VisionPlus for the high beam: opened bonnet' date=' looked at the back of the headlamps - shut bonnet again! They'll wait!']

I upgraded the bulbs on my Fabia not long after I got it - it's not that hard, really! You just have to make sure that the bottom of the cover at the back clips on OK when you're finished. Is the space behind xenon units really that much worse?

I took one look and got the dealer to do it. It was their first time with Furby Xenons, and they decided to remove the front bumper to gain access. Two hours work (fortunately I wasn't paying).

Yes, considering their past performances, I think you'd be better off looking at Tins or DrivetheDeal.

Yes, it really is that bad! There is so much electrikery stuff on the back of the headlamp for the xenons you can't see even a glimpse of the high beam or side light bulbs. The nearside unit would probably mean taking the battery box out to move everything away to get in there.

Still I can forgive your doubt of my engineering sills as your Dr Who pic includes Liz Sladen...... :)

Yikes! Just seen a pic of the engine bay of a xenon-ed Fab    I thought my mum's Honda Jazz was bad for access to fixy bits!!!

Just out of interest (and this is aimed at Skoda rather than you, aerofurb!), if you're supposed to carry a spare set of bulbs for driving on the Continent, doesn't it follow that a certain amount of user serviceability might be required?!

An interesting point, I thought the law said you had to carry spare bulbs - not that you had to be able to fit them!

Perhaps you have to take Ross on continental holidays for this purpose?! :)

Shhh!!! He might get ideas!!! :D:D:D

An option that hasn't really been mentioned is Heated Seats - I have them on my vRS and think they're fantastic. A bargain at

I know I'm weird, but I like the sunroof option, but being a shortarse, headroom's not an issue

The options I went for on my fabia vrs are as follows' date=' xenons, cruise, chip, ITG air filter and exhaust. She now has about 210 horses.

Impressive, whos map is it? What boost are you running to get 210 bhp and I take it its on the std turbo, correct?

And hows the ITG filter, induction kit or panel filter, if so where from?

Cheers

Ross

Ross I am still waiting for this guys reply, that must be some car running on a standard Turbo but TBH I would count the distance life left on the standard turbo in inches rather than miles LOL ;)

Returning to the original question.

Forget Xenons, they cost

I've got cruise control: I didn't specify it, but I bought a car from the dealer which already had it specified.

I do a good mix of driving: about 30-40% of my time is spent on motorways. Cruise control is excellent for this.

It's also incredibly useful now that these damned SPECS cameras are appearing all over the place (the ones that measure your speed over a set distance). In the case of Northamptonshire, some cover the A428 over a distance of about four miles! Cruise control is excellent for making sure you're safe through these.

For the money, I think it's worth having.

For me the best value option were the heated seats, in my old vrs i could be at work berfore the heater finally gave off enough heat, whilst the heated seats are roasting before i get out of my street!

I searched the Earth and it's mother when I was researching my Furby options (due in Mar for 05 reg - Iknow, I know, I'm a wierdo to wait that long....) and the best deak I could find was on Drivethedeal.com. I took this to my local dealer and presented it with a triumphant flourish, fully expecting him to match it. He looked at me as if I'd just crapped in his wife's handbag! Not that he was insulted mind, he just could not understand how they do it so cheap. To cut a long story short, he promised to treat me like a king when servicing came round - despite the fact that I wasn't buying the car from him (My last car was a BMW Cab -find a BM dealer that has that attitude :finger: ).

If it was a sales ploy, well it worked because despite costing me

I too spent many an hour agonizing over extras a point not helped by conflicting reports from the dealers I saw about what was fitted as standard. The facelifted lower model Fabias have had air con thrown in for free for a time and some were saying the vrs had heated seats now, someone else said something else, and so on. In the end, after finally finding someone who really did know, apparentely there's nothing added so that solved that!

Options i went for were the autochanger as i have one in my current car and now wouldn't be without one and the ESP.

Couldn't justify price of zenons, and cruise control and heated seats were not important to me. Parking sensors according to the new brochure are not even an option on the vrs now allegedly. A sunroof was tempting if only to brighten up interior but I never use them properly as the sun just burns my bald head! :)

Finally red was my choice of colour as have black car and even though is the sexiest colour to have a car in is murder to keep looking good especially as i live right on a seafront, at this time of year it's white! Silver to me is boring and the yellow is too light and pastely. I'm sure many disagree. I think it's a shame there was not a choice of a blue.

Anyway' date=' that's my humble 2p worth. Hope it helps

Thanks for your help Rossi (and everyone else contributing to this thread). As suspected, options are really down to personal preference.

Anyways, tonight I placed my order. I finally got down to the deal I was after (much negotiation later). I wont bore you all with the details but I believe the link to that thread is:

Sorry if it doesnt work - I'm new to the forum and still making silly mistakes.

Anyways, thanks again.

Slaters by any chance?

No, my local dealer is John at Pant Waen Skoda in Waunfawr near Caernarfon - and a bloody good bloke he is too. You should see the number of Skodas driving around this area. When you talk to them ,they have nothing but glowing praise both for the cars and the local customer service.

That was a big factor for my choice of manufacturer and one of the drivers for not going for the Ibiza FR (nothing wrong with Seat either mind....). Having just come from BMW, where the amount of greasy ingratiating is proportional to the price of the car, it is a refreshing change.

Cheers

Rossi

Are the h/lamp lenses bought through Skoda or aftermarket jobbies?

sorry for delay in reply, but I believe all fabia headlight lenses are poly carb. could be cos. its better when a pedestrian etc. collides with front of car, no cuts from glass??? Xenons have never been very good, as set too low from new in summer and you can not adjust them. The adjustment is comp. controlled from a sensor on rear beam, which also makes an aftermarket exhaust a bit difficult to fit!!! Hope that helps. P.s. you should try about 210 Bhp from jabba chip and remap, ITG air filter and Free flowing full exh, with motorsport cat. It makes it what it should be.

Dont think that kind of power is achievable with standard turbo unfortunately. :(

Unless those ITG filters can perform miracles.

Jack

You can adjust the Xenons... Get a screwdriver in the little white plastic adjusters on top of the light unit.

I've done mine.

I had this with my Polo GTi... Dealers told me they had to adjust using VAG-COM. They did it, but it still wasn't very bright, and when I took it for an MOT, they told me the lights were too low. I thought I'd need another trip to the dealers, but the guy just pulled out a screwdriver and sorted them!
