Octavia decrease in production

Featured Replies

I have just read an article in Feb 2010 stating the production of the Octavia is to be reduced in March 2010 WWW.AUTOEVOLUTION.COM/NEWS/SKODA-DECREASES-OCTAVIA-S-PRODUCTION-16705.HTML

This seems to be at odds with the recent increase in demand, and long lead times.??? Although it does say if demand changes, they may step production .I hope so!!!

Maybe they are anticipating a fall in sales when the UK VAT free offer ends.

Well they had better build my bugger before they slow down, idle sods !

Hoping to God this doesn't effect me. 6 - 8 weeks is a long enough wait as it is.

6-8 ?

I haven't ordered yet, but I've been told it is likely to be 12-14!! :(

If I have to wait that long then I'll most definitely be cancelling my order. I'd be halfway through 2010 by the time it arrives..!

Dealer is adamant that it should be 6 - 8 weeks. I'm in ROI looking for a 1.6 TDI Elegance; and I doubt waiting times here would be any different to UK waiting times.

reading the article they are reducing the hatchback build output by 25%, that would mean a 6-8 week order looking more like 8-10 weeks. Its still not a long time to wait for a brand new factory built car

I'm still warey of the fact that this could stretch out into June for me. TBH I made the mistake of ordering a Golf midway through 07 and although it was only an 8 week wait..the car became a year old three months later. Sadly I won't be too happy if I have the car over a month later than I expect.

Just wish the dealer could furnish me with a build date. :(

Is it possible, that it wouldn't stretch the process for the cars ordered before this decrease in production, so would only affect newly ordered cars?

I ordered mine in middle of february and was told that it will arrive in 6 weeks, 8 weeks max they promissed.

Don't care. Got mine. emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

6-8 weeks?..I waited 14 weeks!!

I have a feeling that the vRS takes longer to arrive - just from reading through various posts.

Here's hoping we get our cars soon Tomson!

This contradicts what the dealers are saying, Ive just thrown all my toys out of the pram after confirmation of a 14 week delivery on a car ordered in Feb & they are saying thats purely down to demand & factories not coping.

This extended delivery for us may be caused if they are concentrating on the cars for the Euro Zone ( LH Drive) keeping their delivery short to sell cars at the expense of the UK cars, with the weak pound at present they make a lot more on those. Also due to this I can see the vat free ending soon as it must be eating further into margins.

I ordered mine in middle of feb too and was told 16 weeks!!!

When I was looking at purchasing a VRS in January I queried how long it would take to get it.

I was told that I would receive it in time for the new reg coming out in March so I ordered one (Jan 29th)

As yet I have had no information back regarding anything so my initial Skoda experience has not been positive so far.

Lets hope that changes when (and if) I ever get a new car.

We were told on Saturday by Beadles Skoda in Maidstone that we're looking at 10 - 12 weeks for a vRS but I'll believe that when I see it! Hopefully the car is being ordered today, well, the car is being ordered through the company car lease firm so no doubt that will add another two weeks to it by the time all the paperwork has passed through the various departments :(

Could it be due to a shortage of engines?? I read somewhere that they could not keep up with demand for them

we ordered on Jan 28th, originally build week was expected to be mid march, but now a few weeks ago dealer said the build week was the last week in march, so delivery 2 - 3 weeks after that

he mentioned that the RHD cars are only built at certain times, and the popularity of the VAT offer was filling up the slots and pushing new orders further back in the queue.

I'd rather know I had a "fresh" car, and wait 2 months for it, than get a car 2 weeks after orderinf, but it's been sat in a field for the paast 3 months.

Was told today that when I place my order today, I'll be ordering a car that has a build date of March 29th and dealer expects it on April 19th.

That sounds to me like you will be getting a car thats already in the ordering system, possibly someone elses cancelled order. If the spec matches the car you ordered then you will get that car. The build dates are typically around 12 weeks if there is no car in the system that matches what you want.

Tried to order an L&K 1.8 estate 2 weeks ago but was told anything from 14 to 19 weeks, There where 2 in the country available but didn't have the colour or spec I wanted so walked away :( Hoping to pick a good used example of something up to last a couple of years then might look at a superb estate when the offers start appearing :)

Close enough

Basically the dealer and I looked at all cars in the ordering system, and I picked whatever was coming up shortly.

I basically want the base car + spare wheel. Have the maxidot currently in my Elegance, but not too bothered about not having it again.

Key for me was getting a car delivered earlier so I can retain the decent trade in price that was agreed.

Contacted the dealer today - said that my car (Ordered Feb 22nd) should be here by April 12th. If not - he'll provide me with another car to tide me over until then. Hopefully it'll be something decent and not an ol banger!

Strangely enough he mentioned that the system rarely tells them about the status of a car until week 6. Is this correct ?

Thanks guys!

Hi guys this is my first post,

I ordered a 2.0PD L&K estate last Thursday from Delmore in Inverness. Spoke to my sales guy yesterday and he tells me my car is due to be built in week 16 and should be on my drive 4 weeks later. Cant wait - but I will

I will keep you informed.

This is my first Skoda. Up to now I have always had Audis and just sold my 2009 A4 2.0TDi S Line 170 saloon. It was a good car, but I was slightly disappointed with it as I think the quality of the past was not there.

Regards

Hi Pilkers!

This may be a strange question but when is week 16?

I tend to get confused with VAG build weeks. Is Week 1 the first week in January?

14 weeks so far for my VRS. Still not got it but signed all the paperwork today so literally just a few days away :)
