Forecast delivery dates vs. actual from recent orders

Been into my dealer today as my car is being built next week and wanted to know when I could expect to see it, only to be told there's at least a week backlog of cars at Emden because of the inclement weather so the ferries aren't sailing, so I've been told I've got a slim chance of seeing it before Christmas.

I've just heard that as well and it affects me also. Still, better safe than sorry. No doubt many of us remember all those Saabs which went down in the Channel a few years back. Best place for them!

Hi Guys,

I think we're doing quite well considering....

Ordered our Superb Estate 170CR Elegance, Amethyst Purple, heated winscreen & washers + steel space saver spare, luggage restraining net/dog partition & Life shine about mid September 2010 (latest the 20th).

Initially told worst case would be Feb 2011, well we know so ok, fortunately not desperate for it.... Now the good news:

we got a few updates from the supplying dealer (Claybank M/cr) build wee brought forward to about week 46-48, & then again to either week 45/46.

It has now been built about a week ago & we expect to collect in abut 3 weeks.... yippee before Christmas.... can't wait to give it a go, just hope all is in order.

All in all quite happy about 12/13 weeks from order to delivery. A colleague has ordered a base model as his company vehicle and its been 6 months now since the order was placed... oops

Only thing I'm thinking now is... should we have gone for a DSG box??? so many of you have. I was put off by the vehicle we test drove, although a smooth delivery, you could feel quite a few upchanges but nearly every down change. I can change smoother with a manual gear box.

Anythings I should look out for when taking delivery?

gettting excited.... Stef

Another quick update. Rainworth Skoda have chased up Nottingham DVLA and they should have the paperwork back in the next couple of days. With it being so close to the end of the month they have requested that the road fund licence starts from 01 December and, paperwork allowing, will deliver the car on Wednesday next week. That makes the whole process from specifying to the company what I required through to delivery of the car a total of 26 weeks!

Assuming that we hadn't forced the dealer to fiddle around with the cherished registration transfer I would have probably got the car early last week which would have made the order to delivery lead-time 21 weeks.

Nearly there. :whew:

Best regards

David

  • Ordered week 25
  • Built week 43
  • Left factory 28 October
  • On ship from Emden 02 November
  • At Grimsby 03 November (week 44)
  • Delivered to dealer 09 November (week 45)
  • Delivered to me 01 December ?? (week 48)

"My order:

Placed on 8th October. Initial stock date quoted as 31st December.

  • 22/10/10 - Update - stock date postponed to 14th January.
  • 01/11/10 - Update from the dealer - stock date postponed again. Now expected in stock 20th January.
  • 08/11/10 - Further update from the dealer - stock date postponed AGAIN, this time to 28th January.

So, i ordered the car 1 month ago, and so far the delivery has been delayed by 1 month. Great."

**UPDATE - Hey guess what? Yup, my order's been postponed again. Now expected in stock 10th February.

I'm literally no closer to getting my car than i was the day it was ordered! Why do they keep moving the date back? Just give me a realistic date & stick to it FFS**

This is getting ridiculous. Postponed AGAIN. Now expected stock date 23rd February. So they're initial estimate was nearly 2 months out?? Outrageous.

I am literally further away from getting my car now than i was on the day i ordered it!!

Your dealer was being a tad unrealistic quoting you a standard 12 week lead-time for delivery over Xmas when you ordered. I was told the same back in June and immediately dismissed it based on feedback here at the time.

Week 40 2010 to week 8 2011 is a 20 week lead-time. Based on my current experience that might be the case but hopefully you will see it a bit quicker than that. :)

Best regards

David

When I collected my car a week ago, i filled out the customer feedback form. I said how impressed I was with my dealer but felt Skoda Uk could have kept them and me better informed.

Got home from work today to find a message from Skoda UK on the answerphone wanting to discuss the points I raised, especially random build weeks and the compensation scheme which is a bit naff considering how much I paid for the car and had to wait 24 weeks.

I'll return their call tomorrow and see what they say.

Spoke to Skoda Uk this morning who passed me on to Brand Management to discss the vagueness of information they supply to dealers regarding the fluidity of build weeks and then why cars get stuck like mine for 2 weeks at Emden and then another week in Hull.

They accepted that this is a part of communication they can inprove on and sounded quite surprised that some people orderd a car a month after mine and got their car weeks ahead of me.

At least they have accepted this time that a 24 week is unacceptable.

Mentioned to compensation issue that many dealers are just sticking to the M&S vouchers because it is so dificult to get Skoda to cough up for the accessories and for people like me, the car won't be due for a service for getting on for 2 years so the service voucher would be of no interest to me.

Apparently all this is going to be looked into, but the proof will be in how peoples experiences here change.

Still looking at ordering an Octavia for the wife but Skoda confirmed that I would still be looking at 16 - 20 weeks wait.

Apparently global demand for their cars across all ranges currently exceeeds their manufacturing capacity.

Just need to see if the wife can be as patient as me or want to use my car all the time ;)

Update from Skoda this morning, my car is at Emden waiting to be shipped, bit of a surprise when I didn't think it was being built until this week, but they moved it forward by a week.

Might see it before Christmas now!!!

Fingers crossed for ya, I popped into my dealers on sunday, and was told my car was on a train near Emden, hope the weather doesnt affect the delivery, it would be fantastic to have the car before xmas. Dealer said it was in their interest to get the car to customer before xmas because of the vat issue. Lets just hope they book an amarda of ships and a fleet of lorries to move the cars to the dealers. :)

I ordered mine in the middle of August, Superb 2.0 SE 140 Hatch in white. I was told towards the end of January 2011, But I was told last week, They are coming through earlier than first thought. The dealer had received mine and I can pick it up tomorrow, So the snow had better stay away so I can get to the garage. 2 other people that I know, that have ordered the superb that were told Jan and Feb are also getting them this week.

This is what Skoda need to clear up. I'm very pleased your car has been sorted so quickly, but Skoda need to explain why there are such massive discrepancies in their lead times at the moment. I ordered mine 2 days after you but i'm not expecting delivery for nearly 3 months.

It has no logic.

Skoda contacted me last week because I raised this issue on the customer fedback form. They said to expect 18 week wait at the very least which is in line with what my dealer said. Both Skoda and my dealer have said if you get a car sooner it is probably because an order was cancelled that closely matched that of another car where it was perhaps too late to pull from the production line but it was still possibe to add or remove optional items.

I ordered my Octavia 1.6 SE back on 8 September, and my first mfr date was Jan 25th.

I'm now gutted to hear that the build date is now closer to the end of March, slipping an additional 8 weeks.

It seems inconceivable that they can slip by that much. Anyone else found themselves in a similar position?

Err YES. I ordered mine on 8th October. So far the delivery dates i've been quoted are as follows...

31st December

14th January

20th January

28th January

10th Febraury

23rd February

4th March

So 2 months after ordering, the delivery date has been postponed by >2 months (so far). Skoda are bloody useless... i'm ALMOST regretting turning down the offer of a Mazda 6 TS2 that i was told by the leasing company was available in stock. Almost.

Sounds to me like the original date was over optomistic as most of us have had to wait 4- 6 months which fits in with the proposed March delivery. Skoda admit that global demand for the Superb far exceeds supply

Mine is still apparently getting built this week (ordered 6th Sept) Dealer says SUk are pulling out all the stops to get built cars registered before the end of the year (before the VAT increase) so still a bit of hope before Xmas.

Mark.

Well mine's been delayed another week at least

now the excuss is "down to the weather"

car is in Grimsby even though i was lead to belive it was at the dealers !

oh well its cold and snowy and at the moment i have a 4x4 so i suppose i should count myself lucky !

My sentiments exactly. Our new Superbs will probably be delivered on Xmas eve, the snow will have gone, it will be lovely and warm and dry. Oh, and when you look up at the 3 moons :moon: in the sky a load of pigs will be flying by!

Mark.

I have placed order today, still waiting for confirmation of build week. Estimate is end of February. Not sure if they are coming from same factory for UK and rest of Europe.

I have put almost all options, and I am little bit scared about delivery date.
