Forecast delivery dates vs. actual from recent orders

Featured Replies

Mine is on its way at last. Getting it on Thursday next week from an order placed in June. Quite a surprise to get a call to say that it had arrived - the last update was for early December. I make it 21 weeks from order to delivery.

Good news, hopefully I should get mine a few days after :).

I you haven't done already, talk to your dealer about late-delivery compensation; eligibility kicks-in after 18 weeks. They should be able to sort you out with either £150 of accessories, a service voucher or M&S vouchers. The compensation is funded by SUK not the dealer. Be aware that some dealers appear to be reluctant to supply accessories due to the length of time it takes SUK to reimburse them.

Best regards

Spoke to my dealer today. My car is now scheduled to be built in wk 49.

He reckons there is a slim chance it could arrive in time for xmas but it's more likely to be here in early January (as originally quoted when I ordered back in the 1st week of September).

I hate waiting!

Mark.

Ordered week 41.

Glad to hear it but 4 weeks from it being loaded onto a boat to delivery? What the hell are they doing with it that takes 4 weeks?

It can sit at the port for up to 2 weeks waiting to get on a boat, or go straight on.

Once it is on the boat then it will wait at the UK port to be collected, it will arrive at the dealers and have to wait again whilst a registration is allocated and the car has it's PDI.

My car left the factory at the end of October, it is now sitting at the dealers waiting for registration etc, by the time this is done and it has been booked out for delivery then I expect it to be 3 - 4 weeks from leaving the factory, I don't know how long if at all my car waited to get on a boat.

Either way I don't think perka can moan too much abut waiting times, obviously he got lucky and 'took' someone's cancelled order (with tweaked spec possibly) that already had a BW.

I think he said 4 weeks to be on the safe side. Hopefully it will arrive earlier. If I am correct the boat will be at the swedish port tomorrow.

Yea I got lucky this time! :)

I also think that the spec on my car is not one of the most common witch also shortens the waiting time. I ordered 1.8 TSI & Manual gearbox. Looks like the diesel engines and the DSG gearboxes are more popular.

Has anyone worked out an average for deliveries yet?! I ordered mine mid August through the fleet company but no sign of it yet........

Although the only thing that puzzles me is that according to Skoda, that's w/c 29th Nov and every diary I look at shows that as w/c 22 Nov! Skoda must work to a different system than everyone else.

Hoping to take deliver before Xmas, but we will see. Can't wait now.....been waiting far too long.

I think I have been extremely lucky to have only had one date change with this order, and that one bringing the build date forward one week.

Roof spoiler

Do you know if these are bolted or bonded on?

Photo's showing the spoiler would be good when you get the car

Not sure, how the roof spoiler is fitted. It is fitted to the rear boot lid the item has been sent to the bodyshop for spraying. I expect it is just bonded on the same as the other spoilers in the Skoda range. I think it also has the high level LED brake light incorporated, or it seemed to from the one I looked at in April.

Phil,

My dealer rekons that the spec you orderd closely matched a cancelled order for a car that was too late to pull from the line as they are still quoting a minimum delivery of 18 weeks from point of order.

They are also saying the Octavia L&K has a similar lead time which we are thinking of ordering when we collect the Superb.

Maybe, but I changed my spec. at the last minute so I find that hard to believe.

The impression I get is that engine & gearbox changes (possibly colour) will have the biggest negative impact on a provisional build date. Phil, I bet your dealer was able to find an RHD 4x4 CR170 combi that was not allocated to a customer order and then ammended it with the specification to suit your requirements. Just an educated guess. :)

My understanding is that an order placed by one dealer for stock can be 'stolen' by another dealer if they have a firm customer order that it can fulfill.

Best regards

p.s. Still waiting :envy:

"My order:

Placed on 8th October. Initial stock date quoted as 31st December.

  • 22/10/10 - This has already been postponed to 14th January.
  • 01/11/10 - Update from the dealer - stock date postponed twice in the space of 10 days. Now expected in stock 20th January.
  • 08/11/10 - Further update from the dealer - stock date postponed AGAIN, this time to 28th January.

So, i ordered the car 1 month ago, and so far the delivery has been delayed by 1 month. Great."

**UPDATE - Hey guess what? Yup, my order's been postponed again. Now expected in stock 10th February.

I'm literally no closer to getting my car than i was the day it was ordered! Why do they keep moving the date back? Just give me a realistic date & stick to it FFS**

My dealer gave me a customer satisfaction form to rate their services. I said the dealer was faultless but where there was room for further information I raised the point that build weeks and delivery are completly random with Skoda (and this includes Skoda UK) being incapable of providing any reasons as to why this happens.

I would have been a bit more understanding if I had known the reason my car was delayed in being built and then why it got stuck for 2 weeks at Emden and then another week at Grimsby.

If everyone who has this sort of problem completes the feedback, perhaps Skoda UK will take note and do something about this.

It's a common quote but Skoda's delivery times really are an absolute lottery.

I think Skoda should be honest about what causes the most delay with their new cars.

It would be useful if the dealers had a constantly updating program which calculated lead times based on choice of car, engine, gearbox, options etc. It wouldn't be hard to do and would give customers a choice of ideal spec (with a possible long lead time) or 'quick delivery spec' if someone was prepared to compromise on ideal.

We all get an idea about this from various threads on this forum, e.g. sunroofs and KESSY adding to the delivery time, but if Skoda did as I'm suggesting they would definately improve customer satisfaction.

To be honest, that sounds about right... I ordered on 30th of Sept and have a current bw of week 2, so I expect it to be "in stock" around the end of Jan.

Ordered my 170cr 4x4 estate elegance on 3rd sept, sent an email to Skoda Uk because I felt as though the dealer and me were being kept in the dark. Had a phone call from Skoda uk last wednesday telling me that in the history of Skoda it has never had its order books so full, hense it has had to do a bit of juggling with orders. I was also notified by my dealer on friday that my car is being built this week (bw47) I need to keep my fingers crossed and hopefully if the car doesnt sit in a dock yard for a week or two I may have it before xmas. If not will be 1st week of Jan. At least now I know, its the not knowing that really pi##es poeple off.

Nah

Skoda uk have all the orders on a wall and the staff take it in turns to " pin the tail on the Donkey" blind folded and if your lucky you win the prize of getting your car this decade !
