Yippee... just got call from dealer, our car has arrived with them today & it should be ready to collect on Friday PM

Ordered 4th Sept (I thought it was about the 15th) just wishing the time away - so precisely 14 weeks. Not short but better than some.

We were told at the time of ordering it would probably be Jan or Feb 2011. So having told us the probable worst case upfront, an earlier date delivery was a pleasant surprise... so far so good.

I guess it must have been shipped at least a week or so ago for it to be with the dealer in Manchester already with the weather recently.

Lets hope they get it ready for Friday...

Superb Estate Elelgance 170CR, Amethyst, luggage/dog restraint -metal wire thingy , Spare wheel, floor mats, heated windscreen & washers and Lifeshine protection.

Ready for a weekend of cruising in comfort, reading manuals & setting up gizzmos. Its like Christmas come early...

I ordered mine on the same day as you: Elegance Estate 170 CR DSG with heated washer jets, sunset glass, auto dimming mirror and metallic paint... I'm still being told bw2 and delivery mid Feb.

I just wish I could somehow push it back two weeks to March and have it registered as an 11 plate... any ideas?

Surely your dealer will do that for you after you've waited so long? I'd expect it would be offered.

I was told that Skoda UK would only honour the vat deal if the car was registered within 10 days of it landing in the UK, or maybe that was landing at the dealer, probably the latter... I don't think it's going to be that easy to get them to delay the car.

If your car arrives sometime in February it will make no difference to the VAT. Maybe dealer incentives are affected but 20% VAT starts at the beginning of next month. Thats what the rush is about to register cars now.

Dealers claim back VAT on what they buy cars in for and return VAT on what they sell cars for. Hence the worst situation for them is a car they pay for in December (they get back 17.5%) and sell in January (they pay the govt 20%).

I wouldn't be surprised to be offered my new car between Xmas and new year for that very reason, when in any other year it would sit on the forecourt until 2nd or 3rd January.

All I know is that they said they had to get them registered within 10 days for the 17.5% vat offer to remain valid. I think you might be right about it being a dealer incentive though. Having been in to the dealer today to talk more figures and for another quick test drive (damn I love that car!) they are now looking at build week 5... which I guess is the 1st week in February, so maybe there's a chance of getting it registered after March 1st after all...???

It seems inconceivable that they can slip by that much. Anyone else found themselves in a similar position?

Ordered 22/7 with original build week of 37 then week 50. I had it pushed back to week 1 2011 with delivery sometime in March. That makes a whopping 9 months!!

I ordered mine in July and was given an estimated delivery date of 3/12/10 (which was the earliest date I could take it due to the lease on the previous car).

I actually got it 6/12/10 (which is only one working day later), so happy with the delivery times.

Well, I'm cancelling my order, and getting a different car. Now to try to get my deposit back.

My car is on route to the dealer after being released from Grimsby, should arrive tomorrow and hopefully pick it up at the end of the week.

Can't wait, christmas has finally come early!!!

Really...? I know it's a long wait, but it's worth it. I took another Elegance estate 170 DSG out for a spin over the weekend as quite frankly, I'd forgot what it felt like since is was the middle of September when I test drove one last. Needless to say I was still VERY impressed and can't wait for mine to arrive... so long as it's post March 1st

Having waited nearly six months, with my opder placed for a Superb Estate Elegance 170CR 1st week in July, I now have a delivery date pencilled in for 23rd Dec. Can't wait now.....it seems to have taken for ever!

Sorry to hear... I placed an order for a Superb Est. Elegance CR170 manual, Amethyst, Ivory...in the 1st week in September & picked it up on Friday 10th Dec. Unless you ordered an unusual extra, or made any changes to the order its hard to see why it took an extra 8-9weeks! Bad luck but enjoy when it arrives.... its a nice motor!

Stef, the delivery dates are a true lottery, I too will have been waiting 6 months (all but 2 days) when my car is delivered tonight - that is IF it gets delivered at all! as they have failed 3 times so far to deliver the car! Tonight is their LAST chance, it it does not arrive then it WILL be cancelled and I will look elsewhere.

I don't understand that. Where is your car? Surely if the dealer is quoting delivery dates then they actually have it on their premises? Or are you saying the dealer is quoting delivery dates for a car sitting at a port somewhere behind hundreds of other cars?

I understand. In which case you are doing the right thing. Being polite and just asking for updates will most likely mean they do nothing about it. Threatening cancellation may get them to move their ar**s. Hope you get it, be a real shame if you miss out after so long.

Expected delivery: Week 51

Dealer called today, and said the car has arrived. They need to get licenceplates and fit mudflaps 'n stuff, but he told me I can pick it up on the 23.

We're traveling quite a few miles on Xmas eve, and now we get to do that in a brand new car.

Yep DSG's must have the same effect, I guess that's why they made the manuals first so they didn't get stuck on the way to the docks....

Its true the country is aging.... did you know retirement age is now 35..... I wish!
