Finally got my hands on the car today. Ordered mid August - delivered to work today with 5 miles on the clock today!

Black 140tdi estate elegance. All seems good so far - had V7 maps, headlights set correctly etc etc.

The stereo is awful though........

5 months wait though? Never again

Picked my 4x4 170 elegance estate up today, car blew my mind, but when driving into work this evening, thought the headlight were faulty. Travelling at 30mph ish, headlights were pointing on both pavements, great if your a pedestrian, not great if you wanted to see the road. Think they are gonna take a bit of getting used to. But what a fantastic car.

Yep, took car to dealers, and yes headlights were faulty. Mine was one of 4 delivered into the country without headlight bulbs and retaining clips. Dealer fitted parts, I drove the car for 3 days, had to take car back to dealers being unimpressed with headlights, turned out they were stuck in a position, technician had a play and now they are working fantastically. Great headlights.

For anyone thats interested, I just phoned the Skoda dealer that my car is being ordered through (order placed through broker - Drive The deal) on 9th Dec, was told its scheduled for week 15 build, should be with the dealer end of April, the lady at the dealer told me that it was due to a shortage of the 170bhp diesel engine.

I'm not that fussed apart from the fact our Alaskan Malamute pup is getting bigger by the day :(

Gives me a bit more fun and time with my Bmer 123d Coupe so I'm not too upset

Had a look a at purple one today at Lightcliffe in Warrington.

Steel Grey it is!

I just hope I'm not overtaken by too may 2CVs and cyclists on my 1.6CR test drive on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday!

Steve

Did you have a test drive in a 1.6CR Superb? if so how did you find it- I must confess I ordered mine "sight unseen" as I was being pushed to make a decision by car leasing department at work, and wanted to minimise tax and CO2 rather than have a speed machine. The roads around here are either dual carraigeway where once you get to 70 it doesnt matter how many horses are pulling under the front cover, or narrow windy country roads where Superb and speed would be suicidal

I ordered my Superb 170 TDi Elegance on new years eve. Checked on www.trackmyskoda.co.UK last week and had an advisory build week of 15 - 2011. Now showing as 14, so will be interesting to see what the confirmed build week is....

My high beams were picking out the tops of trees.

30 mins at the dealer fixed the problem.

Not Happy...!

Just been on to my dealer... my Superb was scheduled for BW 5... that's this week... it's now been put back to BW 18... I had to apologise to the salesman following my initial response! :'( :'( :S :(

That's another 13 weeks (mid May) and to put it into perspective I ordered on the 30th September which would give a delivery time of around 8 months... anyone would have thought I was buying a Yeti...!!!

Options...

I can change my order to a petrol (1.8TSI DSG) and save the VAT and accept another £1,000 from Skoda. I think that equates to about £6,000 saving over the list price of the TDI CR 170 DSG Superb which is a significant saving (although I got just over 10% discount when I ordered the Superb, so that brings it down to about £4,000). Only problem with that is the delivery times are still around 12 weeks even for petrol models.

The other option is Skoda will take my part-ex off me now to save any further depreciation, and provide me with a car until my Superb arrives. When I queried the car I would get, it was suggested that it would more than likely be an Octavia.

So, a big decision to make:

Take the petrol, save money up front but loose "some" money on tax and fuel bills and wait around 12 more weeks

Stick with the diesel, wait around 13 more weeks but get a free car

Buy a new Passat estate or 3 month old Audi Avant...!

I know this is something only I can decide, but in doing around 12-14,000 miles a year and the new petrol engines becoming more refined, there's less of an incentive to stick with the diesel... although I really do like diesels with the DSG. An advantage of sticking with the diesel is that I will save more money while I wait as I won't be paying for the Superb :smirk:

Would welcome some thoughts to help me decide...

sorry to hear about delays i have a vrs diesel on order cr170 manual ordered sep had various build weeks last one week 20 but now it has had this removed.

my old octavia is been traded against this and my price has been fixed against the new one good job as looks like a nine month wait.

Well at least I'm not the only one, but sorry to hear about your delays too...!

Difficult one to answer, and IMO it would all come down to a few things

Is it your money buying the car or a company car? - A petrol Superb will no doubt be harder to sell on in a few years time, especially with an influx of them (and a lack of diesels) this will no doubt have a bit hit on the residuals.

The petrol car will cost more to run, CR170's are good for just over 45mpg, not sure about the mpg of the TSi ? Not sure you would loose £4K over the diesel tho'.

I certainly wouldn't be opting for the petrol car simple over the lead time, an extra week is nothing at all in the grand scheme of everything.

I too looked into the possibility of a Passat or A6 estate, but I wasn't prepared to make that much of a compromise, so it was either an ex-demo Superb or not cancel mine!

If it was my money I would either buy an over inflated ex-demo Superb (if you wanted the car quickly or take the Octavia they are offering you until yours is built,

I can't believe they've just shunted your car back 13 weeks! Have you had any kind of explanation or reason you can share? I was warned up to 6 months for delivery when I ordered, if it's any longer I'll have to speak to my dealer and see what they can do about it, don't want to be in the Bora so long....

No explanation as such, although it seems to have happened to other customer orders too. I believe the combination of the 170 CR and DSG is the main culprit...! When I asked my salesman whether it could be down to VAG looking after their other marques, he obviously couldn't say, although it seems the effect on the Skoda brand and how to deal with the customers has been the subject of a number of their "sales meetings" recently...

It's my own car, rather than company, so I'm currently trying to go through the figures to determine the likely depreciation on my current car, additional fuel and road tax charges.

Will be going to see the dealer tomorrow, but I'm certainly leaning towards the loan car at the moment...

Well, I've chosen to stick with the diesel I currently have on order. Spoke to the dealer today as my missus has now ordered a Fabia SE and he explained that they've just "processed" the first customers request for a temporary car and will let me know how long it takes to process, etc. Hopefully I'll have something in the next week or two.

i've just been given a 'new' build date of week 9 for my combi, has anyone any idea when realistically I should have the keys in my hand (based in ireland) ?

Since christmas I have been doing some serious milage and my current GTI is costing me about €250 a month more on juice than the Combi will !! ... I need it quickly, not just because I am excited about it but my wallet is demanding it !

Hi , newbie member here. Been trolling the forums for a while, great site.

Ordered a 1,4 Tsi Ambition saloon manual g/boxin in Amethyst w/xenon lights and a few other goodies on 19th December, just been informed that the build date has been moved earlier :) to week 7 !! and should get it from the dealer on 5-7th March.

Really didn't want the estate- it admittedly has a nicer backside but

a) the saloon is more pleasant for the kids inside when you open the boot in a Polish winter

b ) the saloon has enormous load space anyway

c) the combi has a bit of a rep-car reputation over here, saloons are that touch classier ;)

Drove a demo with the 1,4 engine, more than enough for my needs and driving style (mostly city stop-start and the occasional long distance trip with the family). Very smooth and no DPF problems - especially regarding iffy fuel quality over here.

Always got the 2,5l V6 Mazda if I really want to go a bit faster !

Best regards to all,

Cory
