Indian RS

Featured Replies

Just got back from a very exhausting trip to India where as you know the Octy is popular and viewed as a premium car as it carries none of the UK Skoda image 'baggage' - "obsessed with quality since 1895" - don't think that would have worked here somehow... :)

Anyway, was reading the paper and came across the following advert for the Indian version of the RS (note: not vRS over there, as originally the case here)

Has the 150bhp engine and a 'double bed boot'!

..150bhp but xenons? Or is that just a "options" pic?

Welcome back Huck..

Very cool ad, i like it. Shame about the 150bhp.

Nice catchy slogan - "what no other petrol engine technology can catch up with "

Is that a different yellow ? Looks a bit bright to me.

Rescanned the pic, can now see the 'RS' motif.

But would you trust the build quality though?

could it be less powerful because of the fuel??

What's the "Bad Road Package"???

Love that ad! What's a 'moon roof'

Welcome back Huck.

Sold the Merc yet?

But would you trust the build quality though?

 at that! We drive Skodas! Before you got yours would you have?

I'd trust the Indian build quality more than a British built Rover, that's for sure...

Though presumably the Indian Skodas will be built in Czech?

Rob.

standard options seem better on theirs, can the 12v output in the boot be added is all the wringing in the boot?

Might only have a 150 bhp but Indian roads are somewhat lacking in quality and have you seen the way they drive!

No, they have a plant in India. They also have one in the Ukraine to supply other parts of Europe (all UK versions are Czech built) and are building one in China.

Yep - the engine has to be de-tuned to cope with the low-octane fuel you get over there - 87 RON is standard, and 93 RON is their premium. Hence, as stated by the editor of Autocar India:

'...car makers are forced to de-tune or lower the compression ratios of their engines and make them less efficient just so that they can run on 87 octane fuel...'

It's supposedly an anti-pollution measure, but the trouble is of course, that using cr*p fuel will make any given engine LESS efficient! :thumbdwn:

like the Happy Divali bit at the end... and when the engine goes vroom the family will go wow!

lmao
