Retrofitting Skoda OEM Bluetooth.

Featured Replies

I was wondering about having the Skoda OEM Bluetooth kit fitted my 09 Octavia (Elegance), would it be exceptionally expensive to have it done and have the Maxidot recoded?

Also can someone recommend someone to supply & fit it at a reasonable cost?

TIA. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

How long does it take because I'll have to travel up from Mid-Surrey to get it done?

Just had one fitted this weekend to my vRS CR DSG. Original equipment and fully integrates with Bolero, Maxidot and MFSW for all features. Try Gareth at HazzyDayz in Hemel Hempstead 01442 251582 - may be a bit nearer to you for travelling. They've got a great reputation.

Is it the same price for fitting to a FL VRs?? Does it interact with the maxidot, stereo, etc?

I've just found the same question asked in Shark Performance's section (http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/156679-big-thanks-to-ben-again) and the answer is Yes! :)

I really want this feature but its bloody expensive. Does the RNS510 not have bluetooth integrated?

I would make more sense to me if you could get sat nav and bluetooth for around £500.

No, the Bolero doesn't have Bluetooth integrated

And whilst I agree with you that £500 is a much more sensible price, none of the major manufacturers supply factory fit Sat Nav at that price... I know Renault have their Carimat system for £450 (I think) but as that is basically a TomTom, you're still paying about £200 for what is effectively a custom mount for a portable device that is no longer portable...

Only takes a couple of hours :)

Sorry I was reffering to the price of the unit. Looking on ebay they start from around £450. They look to have the calling buttons on them so I was making assumptions. Seems strange they don't support bluetooth calling independent of the maxidot?

Sat Nav

They do support calling independent of the Maxidot however you still need the (external, optional) Bluetooth module.

Thats a bit pants isn't it. You would think the unit would have its own bluetooth reciever in it.

So in short neither the maxidot or the sat nav have the module. Its a completely seperate unit?

Bloody headunit, maxidot and handsfree must be £1500 retrofit?

Maybe, but as a factory order, Maxidot, Sat Nav and Bluetooth are over 2 grand... So you're still saving - and if you order a manual vRS, you can't even spec the bluetooth from Skoda UK.... Insane, but true

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread but, does anyone know why you can't spec Bluetooth on a vRS manual - even if you spend the thick end of £1600 on the Sat Nav unit? I find it staggering :(

Just been into a local dealers to test drive and was discussing spec - I wrongly assumed that it was included in the Sat Nav package.

Can anyone recommend a local (North East) OEM installer please?

I'm sure I read somewhere on here that the reason was that the only vRS-branded steering wheel that has the phone button on it that SUK import is the one with paddle-shifters integrated for the DSG.

An alternative to OEM is the Fiscon Basic Plus unit, which interfaces with the Bolero and Maxidot (not sure about Columbus though?)...that was £317 earlier in the year and can be self-installed to work with the head unit (although you'll need someone with VCDS to enable it in maxidot).

Thanks that would make sense but, I still find it staggering that Skoda can't source a steering wheel with the button on for a manual!

Can anyone confirm what steering wheel you would get on a vRS manual? I'm confused. Do I still get 3 spoke MFSW?

Also if I fit a Fiscon or OEM bluetooth how do I pick up from steering wheel if there isnt a button?

Thanks in advance.

In the UK you only get a MFSW if you've specced a DSG box (which was partially why I installed the Fiscon, couldn't stand to have a phone button on the wheel that didn't do anything!!).

Without the MFSW you can still answer/hang up calls using the touchscreen on the Bolero, assume that would be the same on the Columbus...

There is no MFSW for a manual VRS which is why if you want Bluetooth you have to have DSG. Crazy!

You get the normal 3 spoke wheel on the VRS without buttons and no phone control.

We fit the Skoda original Bluetooth for £350 all in.

my wifes 07 seat altea se has factory blue tooth, but cant see phone book etc. I guess i need to upgrade the main unit or is there another option?

Cheers

So on a manual vRS you don't even get volume controls for the radio? This just gets worse!

Thanks for the info on the Skoda original bluetooth but, how do I answer a call? Please dont tell me I have to press the screen on the Sat Nav :(

What a half ar*ed effort by Skoda. I now have to spend even more dosh on DSG - is DSG worth it? Another test drive to be booked then?

I presume so, as that's how the Fiscon works before it's coded into the maxidot...I guess you might be able to answer using the maxidot control stalk? And no, no volume on the normal steering wheel.

Oh yes, DSG is worth it :)

Were you going for petrol or diesel? Whereabouts in the NE are you?

Absolutely bizarre - I really dont get it. What were skoda thinking of?

Little things like this annoy me. They allow me to spec just about every option I need but, not a handsfree unit on a 'top spec' model :o

I prefer petrol even though I do a lot of miles. My issue at the moment is that my S3 is shocking on fuel (that could be my driving style) and also the more miles I pile on it the faster it's going to depreciate. I realised all this when I bought it as I knew I'd get bored after a year or so. So the plan is that I'll keep the S3 as a second car and get something cheap and cheerful for my commuting.

I'm based in Ingleby Barwick

Thanks for that - quite useful to know an 'approved' after market bit of kit exists.

Just one small problem - I can't use the MFSW as manual cars dont have them  So as good as it looks it as useless as the £1600 Skoda sat unit I was going to spec but, can't control from the steering wheel
