how about sending to What car ?. From what I read they tend to help many owners, maybe if Skoda won't,then it will be bad publicity .....

  • Good luck, but I wouldn't expect them to capitulate. Seems like they only care about their legal rights, not their moral responsibility...

well looks like i needed to buy a new wheel. £150 for wheel and fitting :'(

Ive had no probs except for lightly scuffing one wheel in a bloody great pothole when we had all that snow.

If i get a stonechip on the windscreen can i sue due to not fit for purpose?

it is just part of the rich tapestry of life . Too much Americanism bull**** in this country lets make a claim!

Seems the LE wheels may not be that good a quality compared to the standard VRS wheels. Although I have not actively looked for it, there does not seem to be a similar thread with people complaining about the quality / experiencing problems with the standard VRS wheels. So possibly there is a problem with these wheels. The refurbishment company that fixed one of my wheels were not impressed with the quality, and they see plenty of alloy wheels!

i have been in touch with julie inhester at skoda custermer services about my le wheels as i have had to replace one wheel plus another is damaged , i have sent pictures which were past on to the technical team they replied that damage was caused by driving style . i have now asked for information on how many le wheels they have sold compared to standard vrs wheels in the last 6 months . she also said that she was not aware of anyone else coplaning about the quality of the le wheel. so when you ring be sure ta ask for her.

lol when the service manager called for the part number for the wheel, the guy rolled the number of his tongue. Server manager said they must be selling loads of these if he knows the number of his head

I have always checked round the car if its parked (even outside the house) just in case I have a puncture or in Asda a shopping trolly is lying against the car!!

Anyway .. checked the car this afternoon at the house ..and all cool .. tyres up and round as I expected. Didnt bounce it off any serious potholes on route to Asda.

Came out of Asda and I did my usual check for shopping trolley and car door dents and my jaw dropped when I saw the big flat spot on the near side front. WTF!!!

I dont even remember doing that so I reckon it finally weakened and caved after the other potholes that Ive been unable to avoid. Going to Skoda tomorrow to see what if anything they can do but I dont fancy shelling out 150 bangers on another poor quality rim. Very tempted to buy a seat of decent VW/SEAT alloys and stick the tyres on and put the LE ones in the shed.

Gaaaaaaaaah fuming. Never had this problem with any other OEM alloys.

I,ve just had to order another 2 wheels for my VRS Ltd, This is now 4 in 13000 miles, I've only hit One serious pothole these wheels are just not up to the job, has anyone had any luck with skoda, I will be registering a complaint with my dealer and sending a letter to skoda as they are not fit for purpose. If i hit a deep pothole then i expect damage, but not on minor imperfections in the road surface. 4 wheels this year is taking the proverbial. I be happy if they were just swapped by skoda for the standard wheels. Any advice would be appriciated. Shame its taken the shine of what is otherwise a lovely motor!

I've had my car into the dealers this week to have photos taken of the damaged wheels (5 of them) that I have suffered in just over 11000miles.

These photos have been sent to Skoda customer services who have now reported back saying they have no record of any one else reporting problems with these wheels in the country. So if you have damage please take the wheels to the dealer and tell them you’re not happy. Also if need be speak to Skoda customer services (both Luke and john know about the problem)

I've been told by the dealer that it is not a warranty issue and down to either driving style or external elements i.e. potholes...

1 bit of damage I would concede may be a pot hole but I have 5 wheels each with at least 2 bends in each (more in some cases!!) and now only have 3 of 5 of the wheels on the car as 2 won’t hold air!

On hearing this I told them that was complete rubbish and not at all satisfactory so I would be perusing the matter further.

Then got a call from the dealer next day to say they would replace the wheels (like for like) at cost price then send off my wheels for testing and if a fault is found I would be refunded the cost.

Again I said that this was not the end of it as I would not put the same "soft" wheels on my car again and asked if they could replace with zeniths.

Not heard back from them as yet.

BASICALLY IF YOU'VE GOT DAMAGED WHEELS TAKE THEM TO YOUR DEALER AND PUSH THEM TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND WE MIGHT START GETTING SOMEWHERE.

Can this thread be made sticky so all Limited Edition owners can see it

Thanks

Scott

If anyones any suggestions about taking things further than customer services then please advise,

thinking about contacting the aa, rac, various motoring press see if we can get some pressure put on skoda uk.

then seeking legal advise and at that point heading for small claims court.

Ive just registered a complaint with skoda UK, waiting for a response before my next move

I registered my complaint with skoda six months ago so for to say they have not had any other complaints is utter rubbish think I will ring again tomorrrow

Watchdog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should be a recall. It's a safety issue, especially considering it's specifically realted to a performance car.

Best get onto VOSA before they are all disbanded...

A me to the list, warped rim no physical damage to the wheel...let you know what the dealer says when I take it in next week

Another wheel down for me!! thats the 2nd one to go. Big dent on the inside and only found out as the tyre started losing air.

Ive just bought 4 18" zeniths from Ebay to replace them as I need the car to be reliable for the wife and I just dont trust these poor quality "limited" alloys.

I am going to call Skoda tomorrow and depending on the response I will put the story on the Watchdog website.

If anyone else out there is in a similar situation then I reckon we should infividually log the story on the watchdog website. Wont know until we try.

For your info...............I have been in contact with Skoda UK last week. The tyres on the front needed replacing went to the a tyre garage and they said a front wheel was buckled and could not guarantee a tight seal. To the dealers I went, only to be told that these are not covered under the warrenty. I had to buy a new one the dealers advised me to contact Skoda Custorm Care Dept. Cut a long short photos were taken, skoda were unaware of any issues of the LE wheesl and would not cover the cost. Quoted this site and the problems other people have had to no avail they just didnt want to know even said "dont believe everthing I read on here"...hmm. I have asked them to put it in writing so this is recorded for future reference......

I believe there is defect issue here and a potentially serious one if the tyre goes pop when doing speed

Cheers for that mate.

Well I contacted Skoda UK this morning and they called back this afternoon. "Take the wheels to a Skoda retailer for inspection." Not sure wether the personal phone call was because they want to portray good service or that they dont want to put anything in writing. Maybe Im just naturally suspicious! Anyway I have a Skoda "Case Number" now to track they claim with. Skoda UK also claimed on the phone that the wheels are OEM Skoda wheels .. hmmmm I think not!

So I called my local skoda retailer and the Service Manager says that if the damage is caused by impact then its not a warranty or defect but an insurance claim by me.

I made the point that the defect is the lightness of the alloy wheel itself and that its not fit for purpose. There are 3 other cars in the household and none of them have square wheels. So Ive to bring the wheels for inspection on Tuesday then they will take it from there. I could probably write the outcome now but I will give them the benefit of doubt and see what they say.

Just as well I bought the 4 zeniths or I would be sitting with a useless car in the driveway until I either claim my insurance or Skoda step in and resolve it .. which could be never!

Anyway if anyone else out there is in the same predicament .... how about we all individually contact Watchdog via the website with the details? Doesnt cost us anything and you never know .. they may eventually have to admit the wheels are defective.

I reckon I will be doing this after my garage visit on Tuesday.

This is exactly the same as what happened to me.

The dealer rightly so I suppose, said that they could not find anything mechanically wrong with the wheels, and that it was impact damage from a pothole, which is fair enough, we cant expect dealers to be able to acertain the mechanical properties of a piece of aluminium by just looking at it, although Skoda UK seem to think thats how it works!

Anyway, I didnt get anywhere and had to pay out myself for a set of Audi Calitos (Which I am very pleased with, they look the nuts!)

I now have the original wheels sat taking up space in the garage, at least 3 of which are bent, and pretty much all of them have paint peeling off, and are generally ****e!

I certainly would be interested in a mass complaint to Watchdog, as this is taking the Pi*s now!

Just reading back through all my correspondance with Skoda when I was in talks over my bent wheels, and have come up with something which may have annoyed me slightly depending on whether anyone can answer the following,

When the 500 Limited editions where built, to my knowledge they arrived in the UK without an interior fitted, my question is however, what wheels where fitted when they came off the transport?

There are a couple of photos of the delivery somewhere on here ;) may be worth search...

According to Skoda UK the wheels were fitted at factory. No idea if thats true or not but I had a close look at the Team Dynamics - Monza rim and it certainly looks like the same wheel to me.

Cheers!

Found the photos of them all sitting at Grimsby, half with standard alloys, half with the LE alloys.

Seems to me like they arrived with standard "factory fit" alloys, and were changed to the LE ones over here.

Interesting, considering VW technical department advised me when I said I was going to buy some proper made Audi alloys, "not to fit any wheels that wernt of the type originally fitted at the factory"

Have you a link to the thread at Grimsby with the standard wheels?
