Summer quiz- guess the mpg of my 1.2!

Featured Replies

The family holiday beckons at the weekend and I am wondering how my Yeti will fare in MPG terms. I was wondering what other people might guess as to what I'll get?

The relevant information is:

- the car is a 1.2 DSG that has done 1,000 miles

- the car will be fully loaded, and, the wild card, have a bike on the roof on a roof rack

- the journey will be 60 miles on UK motorways to the Channel Tunnel (early in morning so should be no traffic), and then a further 350 miles on French autoroutes south to St Malo. I' ll probably have the car on criuse control at 130 km/h in France.

Anyone care to guess?

I am reckoning on 32mpg (8.8 l/100km).

Good luck!

40mpg.

36mpg

it depends also of air conditioning use.

With a good foot (not always cruise control means fuel savings) i think you can reach 7 l/100 km

:)

36.4

33.9 emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

33.1 :p

12 km/l

what we all want to know us what do i win( ooops i mean we win) if we guess correct? :D ...

30 MPG but there again mine seems to live around 34 no matter what but I bet you won't do it on 1 tank full.

Mark

36.2

I'd be getting 35 in my 1.8! You must be getting at least 38 and if you are loaded about 36.

I am horrified at some of the figures being guessed here.

I thought the 1.2 was supposed to be economical!!??

I was expecting figures to be in the upper 40's!!

(over the last 1000miles my Freelander has averaged 45mpg, and that included the Welsh Adventure in second gear!!)

yeah but dont forget its an auto'...my dad's new fiesta auto gets 33 consistant....ford uk stated 40ish  ...

Small engine, big car and the consumption is just a logical outfall of those two things... The 1,2 will get you around and because it is silent and well engineered it does not sound strained at motorway speeds/heavily loaded, but I think it is. Severely so as the consumption figures are starting to show. So in my view it is an ok engine for school duties and town. But for heavy loads and motorway driving you need a diesel.

I wanted to put a great experience with the legendary Yeti 1.2 TSi (manual transmission). Last weekend I was literally amazed by the average fuel consumption: 13.8 km / l. The route taken (over 300 km) has provided highway, motorway, urban, and average path with uphill sections. Motorway stretch was almost 180 km cruise control fixed at 130 km / h (and also 135 km / h). Note that the cruise control when braking and subsequent pressing the "RES" (RESTORE) asks all the power the engine to regain speed previously set, so it's not that I was particularly careful with gas. The same onto the ring road and trail mix that I had to face: I was not with the foot of fairy ... even with that of Schumacher (oops Button ...)

I wanted to tell you where my Yeti is actually consumed in the infernal traffic in Rome. Where for miles the only gear that is inserted is the first ... However, in these conditions all the machines consume.

45mpg???? :dull:

Is that with or without the England flags?

Expert chappie on Radio2 tonight reckoned you could loose 3 to 6mpg per flag.

On the bright side, they wont be on the car for that long though

45mpg???? :dull:

Yes, really!!

I couldn't quite believe it, but 486 miles @ 46mpg and 511 @ 44mpg, so roughly 45mpg.

Still it looks like a 140 4x4 can beat that.

AWESOME

Do I get to use your SM for a weekend :giggle:

I won't guess but I'll set u a challenge.

My average over 1800 miles in my 110 tdi is 49.1mpg, my best is 60mpg over about 53 miles.

Get as close as you can to my 49.1mpg!

I must admit when I went to Cadburyworld last week I had 37 mpg on the journey trip there 36 on the way back both cruising at the legal limit with cruise control as much as possible but I did have the aircon on on the return journey. My journey to work which is a good mix of roads gives between 37 and an all time best of 38 mpg but my average for a tankfull always seems to be 34 ish. Strange eh.

Mac,

that was in the Freelander!!!

I haven't ordered the Yeti yet.

Just done a trip form Oxford along the M40, back across to NE London. Averaged 43, and at one point the average as I stopped at the first set of lights was 44.9.

This was in the 1.8 so I did well, but I was holding up a huge line of fuming traffic behind me in order to save the planet. I could have gone past 45, but it was a bit boring.

We've just completed out regular summer tour of the relatives. Approx. 1400 miles in our Yeti 1.2 DSG. From the north of Scotland, A9 to central belt, M6/M5 to Devon, A303 etc. to Bournemouth and Basingstoke, then A303 A34 M40 M6 A9 home. Most done at the legal speed limits, and we averaged ...................................................... 39.2mpg

Yeti now has over 2500miles on the clock. On our normal day-to-day running, we're getting 42.5mpg, but cruising at 70mph for hours on end pushed the mpg down a little. Best consumption seems to be around 55-60mph.
