Underseat storage box - same as in Fabia mark 1?

Featured Replies

Hello good people.

I can see that the numbers for the Fabia mark 2 are listed as Fabia mark 1 number (6Y0) :

Left - 6Y0 881 577 A 47H

Right - 6Y0 881 578 A 47H

Can anyone verify that the underseat storage boxes for the Fabia mark 2 (>1997) are exactly the same boxes for the Fabia mark 1 (2001-2007)?

Have you got the date wrong there? Do you mean >2007?

Gut instinct says they are unlikely to be the same.

It must the time of night.

Of course youre quite right. >2007 it is.

One of the reasons I ask if the boxes are similar is the fact that the plastic cover that is standard in trim level 1 in the front of the seats are completely similar in Fabia mark 1 and 2.

I can confirm thay are the same, I've had them in a Mks 1 and II Fabia and an Octavia.

Thanks alot for your reply, the1bam.

That sounds great. The boxes for the Fabia mark 1 are much cheaper than the Fabia Mark 2 ones even though they are similar.

So if I order a pair of Mark1 boxes I have saved money!

Sure thing.

I will try to take some pictures and explain the proces.

Have tried it earlier on a Fabia mark 1 but cant quite remember it anymore.

I have been interested in these right from looking at ordering my now 7 month old Greenline... But they were not listed as an option on that model.

Does anyone know if the seats are different or just the same so they will go, just not supplied due to weight saving? :o

Does this, though completely pointless, mean the mk1 Fabia's CD changer mounting kit would also fit?

Just outta interest really,

Also, taking it up a level.. Mk1 vRS seats in a Mk2?

Seen them on a Skoda dealers site but then you get another tenner thrown in for postage... may be better value to go to your local dealer!

I am DEFFO going to invest in a pair, now!

Right, Just ordered them and the dealer (Preston Skoda, Forest Gate, London) Has said they should be with him by wednesday, midday! I ordered the fixing screws, too but had no number for the retaining bolt/nuts so will try matching them after I get the bits! It all came to just under £18 for both left and right boxes, and 4 bolts.

8 quid each, or 26 for both?!?

8 quid each, or 26 for both?!?

First price is without p&p at about £10 iirc. Cheaper to hit up your local dealer

See my earlier post... £18 for BOTH boxes AND a set of fixing bolts that you way or may not need but worth getting to save a seperate journey. This is from a main stealer at full list price! B)

I'd be interested to see these. I'd like some for my Ibiza but can't see any on a SEAT site

They arrived today, bang on time.

Just got to get time to fit them now!

WELL, its been quite a while but I actually got to fit the underseat boxes yesterday...

I had another quick look at the above guide, to recap and then dove in!

The most difficult part was lifting the seats in and out of the car, without damaging any paint or trim but I recon it's worth getting them out properly, to flip them and access the screws properly.

I found I didn't need the additional self tappers I purchased as my seat panels were screwed, not clipped so although some of the screw positions were different, I still had as many left over as I started with!

It was just a little difficult unclipping the airbag wiring on the passenger side but the drivers side was ok as the clip was put in the correct way up, making access easier. The passenger one wouldn't open as it got fouled by the base of the seat so I just unscrewed the retaining bracket. If I had done the drivers one first, I would have spotted this error and replaced the clip the correct way up, making access easier anothe time, perhaps(?)

With the seats out, the panel was easy to remove and the box easy to fit, without having to lie down at a funny angle.

I found this far outweighed the effort of removing the whole seat from the car as it was already unbolted and de-wired at this point!

The fitting was so straight forward, I even went on to fit my new mudflaps. I got them nice and cheap on ebay, but will write a new thread about that! B)

Got any pictures mate? Good job though. Doesn't sound simple though :p

Ihave no piccies but the ones the earlier guy put up show the fitting method... i just unplugged the wiring and removed the seats completely after disconnecting the battery, to get better access. The box fitting could be done by a monkey with a screwdriver! :D

As an aside, when you reconnect the battery, expect the auto-function of the windows to be gone... You need to press and hold the switch to fully open the windows, then the same to close. This will reset the function.

I would have loved to see fotos. I'd like these for my 2011 Ibiza, I assume the seats are basically the same.

If anyone has got photos please post them, Thanks
