It's not really a secret , but until a few minutes ago I didn't know how to do the " originally posted by whoever in this post " bit , but now I do ;)

At this rate I will soon get to 500 posts :)

What secret ! I've obviously missed the whole point of the thread , but I'm well on the way to 500 posts :D

You guys crack me up. The secret is no secret. I'm just pro-k04 on an octavia 150hp, and those are cheap in the US, like everything else. Although I have a T3 S60, the K04 is more true to the spirit of the OEM car. The K04 is like the stock turbo, only more of it (tooonnns of torque). We got this thread going for the first time on briskoda though. It's the first time that a thread gets that much attention in the performance forum.

Oh, and btw, my FMIC is going in on Friday. I'm a little disappointed with the capabilities of the shop, but it's the best one around here. Somehow nobody knows how to bend 3" aluminum piping. I'll be looking into oil industry ducting for my cold air intake piping.

That would be a pre-2000 150hp Octavia, Speedy. Here, post-facelift 150hp Octavias also have the K03sport hybrid turbo and thus they have the same performance upgrade range as the RS.

Really? Are you sure, because mine is a 2002 AGU with a small k03, and I have the facelift (not SLX). Maybe Europe had to go to the new engine due to emissions, but I doubt it, since I have the ETKA and AGU shows up as the 150hp version.

Well, I guess they're different depending on the continent. We still have a ton of AGUs around here.

With South America receiving the wrong end of the stick? Well possible that they had stocks of AGUs still to put out, and that they all went your way - with Europe getting the new stuff.

Then again, your aftermarket parts are so much cheaper, so that evens it out a little :D

Hey, I'm not complaining, I wouldn't call it the short end of the stick. I have enough trouble cheating a Motronic 3.83 ECU, I heard the 7 series is much harder to cheat. I think the reasons for the new engies are emissions related and price. I bet the new engines are much more expensive since they have tons more electronics and sensors. Also, our emissions requirements are much lower. The motronic 7 engines are ULEV (US for ultra low emissions vehicle) and motronic 3 are LEV.

That's exactly what I know about 150hp Octavias since 2001 (AUM engine code of the 150hp 2WD model is VVT + K03/K04 hybrid + drive-by-wire). They have the K03/K04 hybrid turbine as the RS according to a world-wide authority in 1.8T-VAG tunning, named Hans Dahlback (I'm sure that most of you know this name) from Borlangen, Sweden.
