Aero Wipers

Featured Replies

What's the general concenus on these then. There's a few things posted on here and i'm not sure what to do with regard to aero's.

Do they need to be 'bent' every now and then to ensure they stick to the windscreen?

Which are better Bosch retro or the Valeo ones?

I've been thinking of some aero wipers aswell as the standard ones on my car will need replcing soon I'd say so I'm quite interested as to what people say about them

I have the Bosch ones on mine, have been on 2 years now and are still going well. Silent in operation and look much better. I do use rain repellent though, so they hardly get used anymore

£6 each at tesco flat blades, never let me down,

I use Bosch Aero wipers with Comma's "Rain Clear Gel", bit fo a faf to apply but well worth it.

Water runs straight to the top of the screen at higher speeds and the wipers are rarely on anything but intermittent setting. Plus the side windows are kept clear.

rain X is the best stuff to get too < !

I have the bosch ones on mine and they are quieter and look the dogs whatsits. B) The only problem is when you are not mooving the longer drivers side one misses the top inch of the blade when wiping. I don't think it happens when driving fast.

Aquapel kicks Rain-X into the middle of next week, but anyway....

Bosch ones are good. I've also used the full silicon ones from XOPC - the Acrobat Extremes. Which are very much the same, but don't mind working in the snow and ice (as fully tested last winter!) I might have a very good condition set up for sale if you're interested, depending on whether they fit on my next purchase or not :)

Cheers,

Steve

If you go for the supermarket ones, you may need to swap them round for RHD use:

FWIW, I've used them, Bosch Aerotwins, Bosch OEM and Valeo OEM, and have stuck with the Valeo ones since I couldn't be doing with the Aero ones missing off bits of the screen. As you can see from above, however, others seem to have been able to solve this...

I find that mine squeek a bit, and the drivers side doesn't site completely flush with the screen so misses a bit - I have tried bending it back with no great affect. Also the connectors on Tesco's are huge! I'll be paying a bit more next time for some that are a bit more aesthetically pleasing :)

FWIW, when I've had the Bosch Aeros fitted I haven't had issues with them missing bits on the screen. I've done no adjustment to them either, so perhaps I've just been lucky :)

The best ones I fitted were the XOPC Acrobat Extremes. Sometimes squeaky if there was minimal water on the screen because they're silicon, but they dealt with anything you could throw at them - no worrying that you'd missed clearing a bit of frost/ice from the screen and then it takes a bite out of the standard rubber blades...

Hi i do agree with you , but when you use rain repellent as much as i do rain X wins for ease of use,

but for durability aquapel does kick arse as you put it, :giggle:

I don't get why you need to use so much of it? I've found Aquapel will last around 20k, so you don't have to do it all that often.

And any of these products will benefit from a properly prepared screen, so cleaning and polishing it should be a given beforehand. Don't see how Rain-X is any easier to use? Break Aquapel capsule, lightly apply, buff off before it dries. Job done  Or am I missing it something?

I've got Valeo ones at the minute. They've been rubbish TBH, not worth the money at all. They leave streaks and smears (and have done from the day I first put them on) and now they're knackered. I've just orderd some of Wiperblades.co.uk own make aero blades for less than half the price of the Valeo ones I'll let you know if they're any better.

yeah its all in the prep 100% , i use this stuff quite alot because i am a detailer

The W5 Lidl rain repellent is better than the lot of them however none of them are anywhere near as good as these.

They may be £50 a set but you will never need another set (They will out last the car...)

I'd be interested to know how they perform as I've been looking at them as well - please report back when fitted

I'm going to clean, clay and seal my glass with some kind of repellant - have been tempted by this...............

Although expensive they do claim it last for two years/30,000 miles

I have to say, I've used Rain-X on two of my cars and would never use it again...

Both cars had issues afterwards, my Mondeo MK3 ST wipers started to hit the driver side pillar shortly after applied.

My Girlfriends wipers on her Sport KA got caught up after Rain-X was applied and needed new wiper arms. There seems to be less friction once applied and therefore the wipers move a little more over the screen.

Even once I sorted the KA wipers out, the RAIN-X stuff was so hard to get rid off, it seems you need to keep applying it otherwise it goes all smeary.

After doing a little digging round on the net, it appears I'm not the only one to have problems with Rain-X.

I've had the wiperblades.co.uk ones on my car for almost a year. They were great at first but they need replacing now, lots of smears. Hoped they last longer to be honest.

I've had the same set of Renault aero wipers on my vRS since i bought it new in May 2006. They are from the old scenic and are the perfect size for the Fabia. Put a set on the mrs' vRS too when she got hers just over 3 years ago and they are still going strong too. Seem to remember they cost about £25-30 from any Renault dealer. There was a big thing about them on here back when they were first discovered.

Anybody beat 4 years and 3 months (and just under 40k) on a set of aero wipers???

Cheers

Dave.

I have aero wipered up my last 2 fabias purely because I think they look a lot better then the old style design. They seem to last well to :)

had the bosch aerofoils on for a month now...look the dogs danglies, simple to fit and no smears and completely silent.

worth paying the £25 i think.

used a link the other month from GRR666 ,should be somewhere on this site

I fitted my wiperblades.co.uk aero blades last week and they're even worse than the valeo ones. Annoying streak lines on the upsweep and a large patch that gets missed on the downsweep on the driver's side. I'd stick to normal wipers if I were you mate - I will be buying normal Bosch ones in future.

Many thanks for the heads up, I'll avoid these then
