If you use the vent method, the most I've got in is 52 litres

Pump stops when filling the main tank but it didn't stop when against the catch thing at the side to fill the reserve. I have 38 litres in my first post but the more I think about it the more I think it was 48 litres :-\

Black magic, did the pump stop when the tank was full?

You'll know its full cos you cant get any more fuel in it

What you'll notice is, when the fuel has reached the neck of the fuel chute so you can see it, when you press the little catch button thing at the right of the fuel chute you'll hear a hissing noise, and if the fuel will dissapear as if by magic.

When you press the little catch button thing and the fuel doesn't go away so you can still see it, then you know its full.

...well thats what I do anyway, get around 52 litres in there.

I just roll up, open fuel cap, put nossle in, lean on car and wait till the bugger stops. Am i doing it wrong? Whats the Reserve tank?

"reserve tank" might be a good starting point.

At least it doesn't do what my R100 does - if you let the pump auto-turn itself off on a full tank, it blows back about half a liter of petrol... Which severely sux.

Didn't fill up the Furby I took for a test drive so haven't checked for a pin

There isn't a reserve tank. The reserve fuel is what should still be left in the tank when the fuel warning light comes on. For the Octavia that's 7 litres for all models except the 4X4 which is 8 litres. (The brochures I have for the Fabia don't list a reserve figure.)

yeah, this is starting to sound an issue of semantics.

Reserve tank - i know this to be the place which shows it as red on your dashboard - and when the needle gets there, the fuel light comes on. About 7 litres on the Fabia I think?

Expansion tank - this is not mentioned in the Fabia handbook with the car. I don't seem to recall anyone ever mentioning this. Although I do not discount the possibility of there being one.

As for little clips, switches, etc. around where the fuel goes in. Never noticed anything. If you want a little extra fuel at the pump, don't put the nozzle right in to the hole and fill up on a cold morning - as you'll get more fuel for you litre-age. Something to do with cold air being more dense and fuel not being as expanded as on a hot sunny day. That tip came from Mr.Clarkson not me - so don't come back and hassle me if it's utter tripe.

I love crossers, I hate bikes on the road, the majority ride like f**k*ng idiots, no wonder there are so many motor bike accidents.
