vRS and Road Angel

Featured Replies

I managed to get the missus to get me a new road angel for christmas, but I've found the cigarette lighter is in the middle of the car!

Is there a way to get this working without wires running all over my Fabia? I'd rather not cut holes in the car as it's still pretty new, and I'd like to stick with the screen mount if possible, though if there's an alternative I'd be happy to go for this.

Cheers Chaps!

Unfortunately only by hard wiring the Angel in, alternatively you could contact Blackspot International who make the Road Angel and ask them if they have straight power cable available as opposed to the coil type supplied. I don't personally run an Angel but a Snooper and i have some straight cable running and it is mounted on the screen. I'm not sure where you could run the cable but it is possible to hard wire in and covertly run. Good luck :rubchin:

Yeah i noticed this with my sat nav kit, I just routed it down the drivers side, under the steering column and then up to the air vent on the right next to the wing mirror, lookks quite tidy, but you have to keep the wire tight, so that it does not sag. Not the best position in the world for the cigarette lighter i have to admit.

I run a road angel in my Furbie vRS I have it hard wired into the fuse box (drivers side door open end panal on dash board) turns on and off with ignition key looks neat no trailing wires just unplug road angel to remove if required Hope this helps

You can get cigarette lighter extension leads from most car accessorie shops, they have a male at one end and a female at the other, they are also available with a male at one end and two females at the other.

Halfords sell ciggie lighter extensions.

A bit of a bodge but they do they job if you can't be bothered to hard wire stuff in :)

I have been giving this some consideration myself, although not looked too hard yet as we don't get the car til next week!!

I hope to be able to buy an 'accessory' socket similar to those fitted in the boots of many cars now days and mount this somewhere under the dashboard out of sight.

The road angel 2 is supplied with both a straight and coiled extension cable. I would eb taking a wee trip back to the shop.

I use the straight lead, but to be honest, it is still not a particuarly neat soloution.

Got mine hard wired. Worth

Will any audio place hard wire it? Halfords offer the service for

Where are you based Steve, if you're in the Hampshire area I'll happily give you a hand.

Here we go then. Twin black would have been better for the power cable but its not soo bad. Note the 'wired' gps reciever can be installed very neatly using the slope of the dash at the windscreen edge.

Thanks VRStu, unfortunately I'm in the midlands :thumbdwn:

Dave, that looks pretty good - I'm wondering whether the add on detector will be needed if I install road angel to the right???

So you'd use an output from the Angel to feed the PDA with gps info, have I understood correctly? That would indeed be sweet.

i have a mark 1 road angel (seperate lasor detector) which my friendly phone kit installer hard wired for me for nothing. he just used the straight wire provided by blackspot and now it sits on the right by the drivers mirror no wires showing.

I'm wondering if with the Road Angel located on the right I'd need a seperate detector in the middle?

Probably won't, but presumably the unit won't detect from the rear as the driver would be in the way??

What pda's or sat-nav kit can be used with New Road Angel - that's a great idea Ian!
