Would you mind updating once again with the final cost (unit + fitting etc) once it's been sorted?

Yep no worries, using an independent garage as they've always looked after my cars (just hope they're cheaper than Skoda!!) :smirk:

amberlight: Skoda Octavia Elegance estate 4x4 registered Aug 07,Failure July 2011 @86500 kms, Skoda said it would take around €1600.00 to remedy the problem. They said the ABS pump needed replacing.I didnt proceed and am awaiting a responce from Skoda Ireland through my local Skoda Dealer. If I dont get a satisfactory outcome I will NEVER buy a Skoda again !

Yep - just found this out today when the garage went to order the part. Magic - thanks very much Skoda!! Not only do you fail to acknowledge this as a fault but you rip everyone off to the tune of £100 on the repair kit to fix said "fault"! Grrrrr not happy!!! :punch:

Not sure why I aren't on the list?

Mine failed around MOT time so Jan 11. It is a Octy vRS estate tdi reg Jan 07. Failed with esp light on (and so they failed MOT wrongly and only issued cert after I forwarded them the email from VOSA stating that they were wrong.) Bill was £1100 ish and Skoda paid 95% goodwill.

I thought they were doing them all by goodwill if people pressured them and had fsh etc.

Got the kit through local vw dealer, had it fitted by Autowork, Salisbury for about £360 including full major service. Kit cost me £130 with a bit of talking. No more 'Bing Bong', no more yellow light!! Magic Strangely, the brakes seem to have much more 'feel' to them??

You're not even going to try for goodwill through Skoda UK?

I asked the dealer about it and they said if I had full dealer service history and if I pay £80 for them to do some diagnostics then there may be some possibility of a goodwill gesture, but no guarantee. If I didn't have to pay them £80 just to have a look at it before they can give me a price on how much it is to be fixed, then I would pursue it through Skoda.

I don't want to pay £80 to find out that I then have to pay more than my local garage to get it fixed.

Local garage quoted £147 ex vat for parts and approx 2 hours labour. (£360 ish total)

  • 2 weeks later...

My ESP light came on this week and the car went in on Friday as it was due a service and mot. I have a 2006 Elegance 1.6 FSI.

When they phoned me to tell me they had checked the ESP fault (and the Airbag faulty message) it was fault indicated with ABS wiring loom, repair kit required to rectify.

I had found this thread before I went and I asked the dealer to not do anywork on the car at the moment due to cash being short and the fact that I wanted to talk to them about the actualt fault and more specifically the actual fault code. When the guy went through the paperwork with me that the mechanic had printed out, the code was G201. I explained to him about the fact that this apparently seems a common and known fault and that I am going to contact Skoda direct as I have had my car fully serviced at my local Skoda dealer since new and am not happy about paying £300+.

My question to you guys who have been in contact with Skoda is, do you have any particular contact details?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

Wayne
