ESP / ABS G201 Failure (Teves MK60) - List

Update on my last entry:

1. I had a warranty with Motorcare. This company has since gone bust and the deals have been picked up by Autocare

2. Autocare have agreed to honour the Motorcare warranty

3. The ABS Unit was covered by the warranty.

This took about 1 week to sort out before the garage was notified that the fix could go ahead.

The local Skoda garage supplied me with a courtesy car for the duration of this time which was great! It was the 1.6 petrol Octavia which impressed me with the economy - got an average of 41 MPG which I though was quite good.

My Scout is now back on the road and happy again!

Just for referece, I ecountered this on a 58 plate Ford Focus last week, strangely enough there was a repair kit available for the ABS unit.

Common problem on the smaller volvo range S40/V50/C30's which is also based on focus so prob same unit, but no repair kit supplied my volvo

These units are a safety issue and in my opinion should last the life of the car no matter what make or model it is and I think its disgusting that manufacturers know these units are crap but do nothing about it and leave customers with either no ABS or a massive bill to fix it if your unlucky enough for it to fail out of warrenty

Anyone know the current situation with Skoda UK relating to fixing this fault please? According to a number of other forums VW are fixing this gratis now and also refunding others who have had to pay or part pay for the repair in the past.

Hi all, just as I set off last night returning from a 100mile trip the ESP light came up (07 Octavia Scout tdi 66K miles), theres lots of good info on this forum but before I start is there a best process to follow, How do know who has the diagnostic tool to get the error codes apart from a main dealer. If it is the Teves unit, should I go directly to Skoda customer service? A main Dealer? Is there any draft documentation that I should present to highlight the issue is national and affects many makes and models? As my car has a full main dealer service history and my warranty expired last November I would hope looking at the threads that I may be able to at least get a hefty reduction or at best 100% (lol)

Can I check anything before I embark on whats likely to be a rocky road.

Any suggestions welcome

No surprise there.... SUK initially offered me 5% goodwill on a just over 3 year old car with 10k miles on it and a full Skoda service history when my Vrs broke.

If you have a full dealer service history its up to a dealer to submit your case for goodwill, only they can say.

Ah right it doesn't have full history, I've spoke to the garage but nothing back. I'll speak to the salesman tomorrow as it was his dad's cars. Thanks for reply

There was a sliding scale on cars with part service history, you may get a contribution.

 

Either way they will need to see the car and submit a diagnostic log with the claim.
