both of us managed near 9 minute dead laps at the nurburgring tho, but in my defense he knew it better than me, but now i have well over 100 laps under my belt that might have changed too B)

Ring trip 2011 for a comparison? :D

at a guess I'd say masking tape and tint spray

Possibly Lamin-X.

Possibly Lamin-X.

Nah deffo not Lamin-X

i'd say these have been tinted on the inside.

But the plastic is red, that wouldn't work would it?

They'd have a red "aura" in a certain light.

Tinting spray on the outside me thinks, can tell by the texture.

Wouldn't really be fair mate, as i will be in a full race spec mk2 pushing 220-250 horses and reving to 9000rpm and only wieghing

Only 900kgs but i am certainly up for another brisky ring trip

rear lights will have been done with masking tape and tinting spray

ive done same to mine and gone over with couple of layers of laquer so they shine when shes clean!

the red arua comes from the lights being on it fades the tint nicely  looks spot on in my opinion however only think it suits black cars but i could be proved wrong

Thanks guys, i thought it would of been masked off but not sure what to tint it, when pay day arises i shall try myself

I'd be interested to know if the rear reflectors still worked well like that, or whether any other light output problems have been encountered as thats the reason I opted for fly eyes on my fab

Thats a point it could quite easily fail its mot because of the reflectors not been red this happend to me on my old car.I'd buy Lamin-X if it wasn't so bleeding expensive.

Spraying is fine, so long as you take your time, thin coats and that. Just have to get the right balance between looks and not over doing it

Matt

Thats a fair point, i forgot about the reflectors  will tint completely cover up the reflection and lights?you can tell im a newbie at this... :giggle:

I used Flyeyes

Tinted

Reflectors still working perfectly

That looks quite nice actually, was wondering how the pre face lift lights would look tinted

Both products have their advantages.

I tried fly eyes first. It's good value for money and does the job

but I thought it looked a little amateur right up close. It's also VERY easy to apply.

Before I changed my rear clusters for the older type I had the fly eyes

over the whole thing reflector and all.

That said, the Lamin X is much tougher than fly eyes and passes the "up close" test

it's harder to fit but if you apply carefully the results are far more impressive than fly eyes.

But as said, it's not cheap.

If I were you Brett, I'd give a roll of flyeyes a go to begin with. You don't even have to

take the clusters off the car, (which is another pain in the butt BTW) and if come MOT

time you have problems then you can take it off in seconds. Painted clusters would

be harder to rectify in the event of an MOT failure... Just my tuppence worth.

Thanks Garry, il try the fly eyes at first and see how it goes, i just checked the Lumin-x and my god its dear! but if fly eyes does the trick, i dont mind too much

Out of one roll of Fly eyes I got two whole rear clusters and 4 (Don't ask) foglamps.

They do 2 shades of black, I went for the darker one.

Ooh thats quite a lot, so at a stretch the rears and fronts?but i think il go for darker too, suits the black of the car more
