Rolling road results

My octavia is very very well looked both by the briskodian who owned it previously and by me.I modify all my cars and yes some break but its normally when you cut corners to achive the highest bhp for the least amount.Ive reciepts for £6k before i even got the car and ive spent ££££ aswell just to get the numbers i have.I normally go the diesel route because the gains are so large in comparison to petrol cars after even just a remap but ive found modern diesels very delicate (other than tdi's) .

Basically i always take time to warm the engine to running temp ( hence the oil temp gauge, oil pressure gauge) which i find takes at least 10 mins and ALWAYS let it cool even after a moderate run and ive never had any turbo or engine issues with any of my cars.

One final thing that, i think is very important to my is the best quality oil you can afford i.e full synth.

i understand you have spent ££££ but people have spent alot more to achieve the same results

you havent eveb scrtched the surface with mods yet !! long way to go lol

i will be testing stage 2 shark sooner rather than later B)

big difference between a cossie block and a 1.8t block

:S please explain?

Both old iron blocks designed for shopping cars (and vans in the case of the cossie :) )

Relevant to the discussion, Cosworth developed the engine originally at 300bhp and Ford decided to detune to 204.. consequently they will run a stg1/2 upgrade all day long if looked after properly, as will the 1.8T , they won't worry about 250bhp in terms of long term reliability.

in context to what the standard internal will take ( max out before they eat themselves ) the cossie has a larger max bhp and torque before it needs forgeing

no it doesn't make any sense - the peak power is measured at the wheels at a particular rpm, and a calculation applied to that data to derive the engine power . The two figures can't actually occur at two different rpms, so it must be some vagary in the way it uses rundown data to make the calculation, or there is a settling period during lift-off which creates an artificial jump in the apparent losses which are included in the calculation.

sorry but they can occur at different rpms

imagine the peak wheel hp stays coinstant over a range from 2k to 5k rpm (I know this isn't the case, just giving an example)

the frictional and transmission losses will be greater at higher rpms, so overall engine power must be greatest at 5k rpm

now imagine engine can rev to 7k rpm with only a small drop in wheel hp. The vastly increased frictional losses at 7k rpm mean the peak engine power could occur then because, "peak engine hp = wheel hp + frictional losses hp"

Mrs Wagonwheels says ive spent enough on it lol.I know ive not done as much as some people, was speaking to a cupra(180) owner who went the chinese k04 route and got 5 bhp more than my results with more boost and lasted 6 months!

I still want drivability and i think its still good for that albeit too low for the misses

With anything mechanical, even when you look after & do things meticulously without cutting corners, standard or moddified, things still break, trust me.
