New Skoda service plan 'poor value for money'

Featured Replies

The JPS has just been picked up to have it's 3rd service done under their fixed price service plan

Car has done only 35k miles, but is effectively coming up to it's 40k service, at which point the DSG filter and oil needs changing

I've just been floored being told that those items aren't covered by the terms of the service plan, even though they are scheduled, because not everyone reaches the required mileage

The quote - £166

Really is making me wonder whether the plan was worth it, and whether I should have read the small print a bit more closely :@

  • MOT's should be no more than £39, again they are listed on Skoda's National Pricing using the link above. Let us know how you get on!

I paid £149 for a a service plan when I bought my vrs second hand in April this year. This included two services and two mots so would appear good value. When I read the fine print it states it only covers one oil change, sparks plugs if required, pollen filter if required , air filter if required. The dealer serviced it when i bought it and I asked them to change it to fixed servicing - dont believe in letting it do 20k miles without an oil change! Had 30k service last week which there was no charge for but now wondering what I will have to pay for 40k service. Believe that the filters and spark plugs aren't done till about 60k so doubt they will change them and according to the plan I won't get the oil change free?? Seems a bit misleading when they advertise it as two services.....

Plugs are at 4yr on the TFSI not sure about the mileage. I know the 4yr service is a relatively big one. Not quite so painful for you since you have a TSI so no cam belt to do.

You bought a service plan for 2x services but it only pays for one oil change?

What exactly do they propose to do for the second service under the remit of the service plan?

£149 sounds too cheap for two services and two MOT's, this is perhaps why it only includes one oil and filter change!?

Skoda charge no more than £129 for a minor service (see link to Skoda's National Pricing policy below) so to get two services plus two MOT's for £149 sounds too good to be true.

I too had the service plan, I paid £299 for it with £100's of Skoda vouchers - so £199. I was told it is for vehicles on the fixed service regime only so it's one service per year or 10,000 miles.

It is essentially two minor services.

My second service was the 40K major service. The plan paid for the oil, oil filter, pollen filter and labour.

I then paid extra for the cambelt, MOT and Haldex oil change, albeit at a reduced rate due to it being in for a service at the same time.

Check here for what is covered under a minor or fixed service:

It was a deal they were offering if you bought the car through skoda finance. I have the documents stating two services and two mots. I suppose if i have to pay for some of my next service it will still work out cheaper. Mots would be about £80 plus the service there that would have cost me £129 i- don't think the dealer was really aware of it but when they looked it up it was on their system. Will be interesting to see what they try and charge for next time.

I have the same deal, 2nd and 3rd year services. What ever the book says on those services it gets

2 mot's also

JPS now fully serviced under a 3 year service plan

Sting to wallet - £166.19 for the DSG filter and oil :(

Well thats what I would have presumed as well. The documents I recieved from Skoda UK though state in detail what is included as per my previous post. I reckon if they try and charge for the second service there is a good case to argue as it was sold to me as "2 services".....no exclusions mentioned. I would understand if the car had a high mileage they might not cover everything but basically its 2 oil changes.
