I've just got the Cheapest Retro fit of Cruise Control

Slightly unsure why quite a few members on here appear to be having a dig at me for letting people know that I am getting Cruise Control fitted, barring SkodiRS & Big K. Without wanting to steal business from Big K in anyway (no doubt I wont anyway because I hear he is excellent and Birskodian :D) surely it can only be a positive thing for people in North if I sucessfully fit it as it will save time & money.

1. Did you get all the parts from a skoda dealer ie. the satlk the wiring loom and the multiplug?

2. has it been fitted yet?

3.what diagnostics gear has the so called fitting garage got?

4.who's programming it skoda dealer or fitter?

1. Yes all 3.

2. Nope, next thursday. I pick the parts up on saturday so I can verify if it's all there.

3. Unsure, apparently my dealer is turning the cruise control option 'On' when it's in for the rear brake fix on tuesday, the garage which is fitting it advised the dealer need to use something called 15.50?? or something like that. Not sure if they mean VAG-COM

4. An external fitter in Armley Leeds ( near the prison  ) called Max Impact, apparently they have done a few before. The guy I spoke to instantly said I would need different items to the Octavia setup and was very helpful considering I didn't know what was involved.

if it all goes pete tong then i'm here waiting to pick up the pieces and am quite willing to do this as i have done in the past i also offer advise/fitting instructions (via pm) if you have probs/ want to try fitting yourselves. cheers k.

Thanks very much! :) I hope it does all goto plan, but if not you'll be the first to know about it and i'll come down and see you to get it working.

HF,

don't think peeps are having a dig.....some times our members can be a little over protective of Brisky...just think of it as being enthusiastically helpfull. ;):D

Hope is all goes well...if not....you know who to call.

Dont get me wrong im over the moon for you if you can get it done at that price and it all works. And if they have done them before im sure it will be fine. Its just we all get a bit sceptical sometimes and we dont like to see a fellow member get promised something only to be disapointed.

Hellfire if you get a chance could you get a reciept for the parts bought from the dealer especially the loom. Skoda list a part number for a complete kit to retro fit cruise control, its on ETKA along with the parking sensor kits, but when you order it it comes up 'unorderable'. I had to make my loom myself for cruise. Would be nice to have a referance for the factory parts.

Cheers

Ross

ross i'm unsure how hellfire's dealer can supply the loom, because i can't order this from skoda because it's flagged only for vw dealers (i use to get from skoda ) but am unable to do this anymore and have to purchase from vw dealer  hellfire can you confirm that your dealer is supply the loom or are they getting from vw dealer?

I dont know, Max Impact just said I needed three parts, and Chris at DMC Keith in Leeds, said he had the three parts when I called back

It's 1550 and it's the volkswagen diagnostice tool.

VAG-COM is an unofficial emulator of the 1550 tool.

Actually its VAS 5051 ;)

Older units are VAG 1551 and VAG 1552 but these are no longer issued to dealers as they cant read alot of can bus diagnosis.

They claimed it would take 3 hours to install.

usually takes me 1.5-2.0 hours :P

:) If they **** it up and you have to fix it, it'll probably take you longer ;)
