I just ordered a new skoda octavia ambiente 1.6MPI. Am trying to figure out how I can use an iPod in-car.

The only solutions I've seen so far are

[1] fm transmitters (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=T7194LL/A illegal here in ROI)

[2] cassette adapter (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/smartdeck/index.php 'stream' stereo is CD-only - no cassette player)

[3] dension ice link plus ( http://www.ihavetohave.it/product.php/2103/200//d26fae52268386058df2760bed7f6b27) not sure if this works - anyone installed it on a new octavia ?)

Walter

Welcome Walter, cant help on the ice front but I am sure someone will be along in a minute.

My mate who lives in Mallow has an ipod. He uses it in his car (renault laguna) all the time. He has it fastened to the dash with a velcro pad, and uses the illegal fm transmitter ($30 from america). He has never had a problem yet, with the unit, or the authorities.

Using the transmitter is far better IMHO as you can take it with you from car to car to house etc.

JD,

Interesting... Given that the 'Audience' mp3 6 cd-player costs 567 euro extra, I might go with the following solution...

1GB iPod shuffle ( http://www.apple.com/uk/ipodshuffle/ ) +

iRock 450FM ( http://www.myirock.com/players/irock450fm.asp ) +

Velcro

(total cost 180 euro)

Because the iPod shuffle has no moving parts, it has the added advantage of no skipping on bumpy roads.

I'll post some PICs when I've set this thing up.

Howiya ye langer. welcome to the site, a lot of knowledgable people here and also the likes of muppets like me. ;)

Seriously though, enjoy your new car. a friend of mine is getting his at the end of the month.Regards David

How's it goin' boy!

Welcome to the site.

I'd go with either the FM transmitter ot the dension ice link. The transmitter only has the range of about 10m, so It'll never be found out. If you a re willing to take apart the dashboard, then definitely take the ice link. It seems to be the best choice.

Again, welcome!

Hi there,

Welcome to the site  .

Don't have experience of any but did have one like no. 2 for a discman, the cables are a pain.

I'd say theres little chance of getting caught with 1.
