Climatronic, electrically operated sunroof, side airbags, headlight washers, centre front armrest and twin rear reading lights - but there again I am a 4X4 owner and wouldn't be without them. :D

Being a bit more serious, fit parking sensors (I think the rear spoiler makes rear vision even more problematical) and cruise control (to help keep the points down on your licence). Are you going to buy the Hatch or Estate?

PS Being very serious, don't bother with the front armrest. It's a total waste of space.

The RS doesn't get the rear reading lights?

My daughter would be lost without em!

Parking sensors and Cruise control... Cheap to buy now rather than later...

I'll agree on the rear parking sensors especially if you get the Hatch. I would also strongly recomend you try a 4x4 , I think they are better but there again I bought one, Only negative with the 4x4 is they are slightly jucier, there again if that worried you youd get a Diesel

PS: If you've come into some

Jason is a bit sharp today - and has even managed to rebuild his signature!

The Swedish spec RS (note the absence of a v) probably comes with lots of goodies the UK spec one doesn't have, eg 4X4 ( ), TDi ( eek.gif ), xenons, and heavy duty suspension.

Could you please let us know what the standard spec is, Rythm, and what options are available to you? If its anything like the options available to Dutch4X4, there are going to be a lot of envious vRS owners on this site.

sharp? After yesterday, me driving on the right hand side of the road all the way to work would be considered as "sharp" :D

Rebuild is such a technical name for it - I think just remember what was there in the first place is better. :)

If you can get the Xenons, that's what I would put top of my list. The difference to standard lamps is amazing.

Cruise is great for quiet A roads but normally pretty useless on UK motorways IMHO.

Denis is most definitely right about the arm rest. Mine spends 99% of its time in the upgright position - mainly because it's a pain in the a**e to change gear with it down. And he's spot on about the parking sensors. Even without the spoiler the Octy has a high rump (ooer) and isn't the easiest vehicle to reverse.

Now here's where the vRS boys will shoot me down - I would seriously consider the PD130 diesel. So much torque - it's got to be fun to drive. I think my 110 is already pretty quick (yes I know - nowhere near as quick as the vRS!). And a 6 speed box...

End of opinions...

H

The arm rest is ace, mine is never up, would be lost without it on long journey's and mad sessions alike!

many a thanks for all the answers. its going to be a sedan (estate for you chaps, i reckon?). will check on exact specs for the swedish RS and get bakc to you when i got them.

oh, and the

Sedan is the hatchback, Rythm (Estate may be called "Combi" in S too?). Have always wondered why Skoda insist on calling their five-door hatchback a "sedan". However, the Dutch importer sells it the factually correct way, i.e. "Hatchback".

I agree the armrest is no use, except to Ian (who still owes us an explanation of how he manages to swiftly change gear with the thing down - or a picture of his extendable bionic arm! :D ). But even in its upward position it does offer some more storage space...

So you'd say that standard 16" all-round on the RS is part of that "amazing" Dutch spec, Denis? :D

Sedan usually translates to being a Saloon car so I think it's the Hatch you mean since the Octavia doesn't have a saloon boot. Wagon usually translates to Estate.

Heh..

Well I have it slightly "down" one click from level... then my fingers just around the stick for nice easy changes.

I tried that in my previous Octy which had the armrest; still uncomfortable. I needed a longer arm or fingers.

Popular with the girls at school Ian?;):D

umm, no comment.

:D

Or an elbow pad...

Otherwise a hugely flexible wrist might also have something to do with it! But that's treading on "no comment" territory again :D

I meant the options available for markets other than the UK were amazing, Mattijs. In the UK the sort of people who buy the vRS wouldn't be seen dead with anything less than 17", but otherwise they will accept just about any old spec - just look what the UK 4X4 has that the UK vRS has to do without! How on earth Skoda UK can con people with a badge change, minor chip mod, wheels just one size bigger, and some extra bits of plastic - while withholding loads of useful goodies,- totally amazes me....

Parking sensors, parking sensors and parking sensors. I was in a hurry for my vRS, I went for the silver one on the showroom that had parking sensors and a sunroof. I don't really like the sunroof but I thought the parking sensors would be "handy".

As it happens they get a LOT of use. She is a very difficult beast to park due to the high back and reduced visibility. Much more of a pain than I would have though possible. I don't think I'll ever own a car without them from now on!

Once again, if you get no other option, get PARKING SENSORS!

Regards,

Mark

Well, it is cheaper than the 4x4. (While here it's the other way around, and you still get the crappy radio and the 16" wheels.)

Um, what goodies would those be? Four wheel drive, side airbags and ESP? We get leather, bigger wheels/tyres, better brakes, more power, better exhaust.

Oh, and we pay less :p

Here in Sunny (at the moment) sweden, a combi is always a combi. except for Volvo, they insist on caling it an Estatewagon. yes, i got my new english dictionary today so now i know the difference between a hatch and an estate :D . A hatch is refered to as a combi-coup
