Featured Replies

had a phone call tonight from a Stealer asking me if I wanted a Fabia MII Vrs in a base colour, ie:- White with Black wheels and mirrors for just over £13k "BRAND NEW, NO MILES"

he reckons there's deals in January "NO VAT" ( or the stealer's pay's it )

True or false

False

Too cheap and black mirrors are standard!!

I could get a vRS from Forces car discount for around 13k sonot to cheap. The dealer where I have ordered my Octavia vRS from beat the forces car discount qoutesoprobably beat the Fabia too

IT'S TRUE..............From 4th Jan 2011 20% off the new Fabia MkII VRS...................BARGAIN

Base colour no extras just over £13K emoticon-0144-nod.gif

If it's really true, that is such a temptation.. Arrrgh!

All they are doing is showing their desperation and crashing the residuals. It's a car very few people actually want. Build a 170bhp diesel Skoda and watch them fly out of the showroom.

Talking with a local dealer recently and he suggested there would be new year discounts on petrols across the range but not diesels. Think the logic behind it is to tempt customers away from diesel to ease supply pressures on these engines :wonder:

TP

If this is true ( IF ) that car I ordered back in September that should be here this week ( should ) and am about to pay £16K for, is in less than 2 weeks going to be a £14K car with the same extras.

Now that really takes the **** :wonder:

I shall be having words tomorrow, bearing in mind all they have so far is a large deposit from me.

It's True, Believe me

Gutted for the 16k buyers BARGIN otherwise. Get it in black for the ultimate stealth. Dont get it in white, everyone has white, be original!!

It's True, Believe me

Where's the rubchin smilie when you want it? :)

Surely it can't be as simple as cancelling an existing order to re-order on the new deal otherwise we'd all do it?

I'm in a similar position in that my dealer has £550 of my hard earned in deposit and I take delivery of the car end of January (provided the build week stays at 1). At the very least I'd lose my deposit and as I've signed an order form then this forms a contract between me and the dealer. Don't think I'd raise too many smiles if I suddenly announced that I wanted to cancel my order pending a cut-throat deal from Skoda in January!

I've been in today and had words

We'll have to see what the new year brings as three transporters arrived today and no white with snowroof vRS on any of them.

My worry now is my original deposit of £7000, roll on January and we shall see how my dealer is at sorting problems like these.

shall see how my dealer is at sorting problems like these.

Problems like what exactly?

I hate to say it but if this new deal came in just when you were taking delivery of your new car then it's not the dealer's fault, just plain old tough luck. I've got to say that I'd be well miffed if this deal turns out to be pukka and the car I'm about to take delivery of is suddenly worth £2k less than I'm paying but I don't consider it to be a dealer problem.

I also don't think the dealer would have much incentive to help you out either as the deal has been done.

Like I say, we'll see what January brings but I don't see how we can wriggle out of done deal when a better one comes along?

Ever seen a vRS driven through a showroom window on fire

Sorry made a mistake

You DO pay Vat

But after a 20% Discount

So... Skoda will discount at 20% but then add the VAT on at a rate of 20%? That doesn't make the car a penny cheaper doing that, unless I've completely misunderstood you.

Do you mean Skoda will simply discount the equivalent VAT of 20% like they're doing with every other model in the range? I can't understand why they'd be so desperate when they can't keep up with current orders? In fact, I can't remember the last time Skoda offered such a lucrative offer on a vRS, if ever. They have offered 0% finance and free servicing deals but to my knowledge they haven't offered 'no VAT' on any vRS model?

as I understand it you get A 20% discount off list price then they put VAT on so you get a 20% discount

Only Diesels I believe.. Phone a dealer, see what they say I have no reason to dis-believe my dealer as I've been in there showroom today trying to secure a Fabia MkII Vrs on this deal

That's what mean - taking 20% off the list then adding VAT on at the same rate means there's 0% discount applied as you've put back on what you took off. The only way this would work is if they took 20% off the NET value of the list price then added 20% to this figure to give you a discounted price.

If it only applies to diesels then how can the Fabia MkII vRS qualify for the offer? As Skoda themselves set the deals then it's not up to the dealer to decide otherwise, not unless they can afford to apply a discount of the same value.

I may contact my dealer about this for my own information but as I've already said, I don't expect the dealer to cut me any slack on my own deal as it's been signed and sealed, just waiting for delivery of the car.

Hmmmm - that whooshing noise is the residuals disappearing down the loo.

If this continues you'll be able to buy a 1 year old Mk II Fabia vRS for the same as a 5 year old Mk I vRS SE.

Sorry if this looks like grandstanding but offering a 20% discount on a newly launched car really does look like desperation to me.

To be perfectly honest, if Skoda are so desperate to sell the Fabia vRS then why are dealers so reluctant to offer discounts on it? Seems odd to me that one month it's hard to secure a decent discount yet the next they're giving it away?

On top of this, if Skoda only allocated 500 vRSs to the UK this year (and presumably the same for next year) and they flew out of the factory then why all of a sudden do they need to get so desperate?

Something doesn't add up to me. Has anyone actually spoken to their dealer who can confirm such a move?

I rang my dealer pretending to be a new vRS buyer.( naughty I know - but I wanted to get the bottom of this 20% discount situation)

The only Fabia vRS he offered me at a discount was the demonstrator they had been using.

Has anybody been offered a new (unregistered) Fabia vRS at a substancial discount ?

John

PS -this was yesterday emoticon-0100-smile.gif

I rang yesterday.

I am going to see them in person next week - first day the open. I am in no rush to change and the car has not been built yet.
