Feckin Saxo driver nearly killed me and wife in VRS..

Featured Replies

So there I am minding my own business on the A19 (Blyth to Newcastle)....when this Saxo comes STRAIGHT upto my arse... :wonder:

I mean literally probably 3-4 foot in in maybe???

Lights flashing the lot. This is on a dual carrigeway. I have traffic to the side of me on the inside lane and also traffic in front of me. It pouring down with heavy rain and visbility is poor at best...

I have no option but to try and get myself out of the situation. So i gently tap on the brakes....does not work. Ok, so i flash my hazards.....nope does not work..

By this time i am seething.....the guy obviously measures his penis on the basis of his Saxo. I slow right the hell down. I think i dropped to 50mph for a good three miles.

He sees a gap on the inside and then he undertakes causing me to swerve and just miss the verge on the hardshoulder. By this time I am almost ready to chase the guy down and beat him up.

Wifes tells me to cool down and let it go. Fair enough i let him go.......So we get to the roundabout just before Cramlington. And there he is. Tinted out windows, big bore exhaust. I pull alongside....

Lights turn green and he floors it....So i though ok....i follow suit...its neck and neck. I let off the gas and let him get on his way.

I hope the ****** bent his car around a lamppost that night...

Maybe....but why risk it??? I really wanted too but thought better against it.

Eitherway.....His Saxo was VERY fast. Definitely not standard.....would have given my remapped VRS a good run for the money i think...

I get pr1cks like that all the time. It's normally people in Mini's these days and not Saxo's. Most of the Saxo's round here have been crashed.

Probably a VTS 1.6 16V, all the Chavs/Idiots drive them. Some numpty tried to race me in his Saxo down the Motorway not long ago, pulled away from him no problem then eased off but he kept going

what will they be standard 115bhp?

his go faster stripes will add 5bhp per stripe so 10 bhp

big bore exaust 50bhp

tinted windows 10 bhp per window

so it'll be running at least 280!!!!!

i hate saxo's especialy fast saxo's!

Just not worth messing with these people let them go by and i am sure he will bin it soon enough. This why our insurance is so high! glad you guys were ok

I had a similar encounter on the m1 recently but 2 were merc drivers and 1 in a BMW flashing me out of the way and Right on my bumper?!. I was on my own tho so no one to tell me to behave :giggle:

Let's just say all 3 bell ends were drowning there sorrows into there favourite whisky that night and wondering why they had spent so much money on genital extensions to have them shrunk back down to size by a Skoda!!

Now I'm not condoning my actions as it's not clever but by feck it was fun!. arrogant people like that get on my last nerve!

You dont need to race him from the lights. As you had a passenger, call the police and let them sort out.

All you risked is showing him a red rag which could have endangered you further.

Just chill

If he wants to drive like a ****, move over as soon as and let him

Why wind yourself up and take him on? All that does is lower yourself to his level

130bhp in the later ones, my old paxo was bloody fast for a little car, too fast. I once on a saxo day out on a private runway hit a speedo reading 140..................................so probably 110 in real term lol.

Honestly mate best thing to do is ignore and pull in at the safest place, these peoples are natures way of population control, dont let them take you with them!!! :giggle:

get these idiots all the time,i do the sensible thing and get out of their way,i really don't want to get caught up in the accident thats waiting to happen, call me a fanny but its worked so far!!!!

I had a guy, probably around 50 come up the side of me in the local town today at a crossing, set off when the lights turned to green, and this guy tried racing me off on a single carriage way, then tried pushing me into the curb where there were people stood.

Luckily, I was in the wifes 306, he was in a 10 plate 308.

It didn't matter to me if he hit our car, so i kept going, and we must of been within mm of each other, when he eventually backed off, and then pulled in behind flashing his lights and hand gestures, I stopped, making sure he was blocked between me and the car behind him. Jumped out, phone in hand and dialled the local non emergancy police to report him, walked to the front of his car and read the reg plate out to the guy on the end of the phone. I think he got more of a telling off from his wife in the passenger seat, than he will off the police when they go and visit him. And yes, there are loads of CCTV cameras on the stretch of road, and told the guy on the phone this.

Would love to be a fly on the wall when he got home, and the police visit him.

I've had a few of these types, but they are a bit more cautious against an Octy (I guess partly thanks to unmarked cars).

99.9% of the time, I'll just let them go, safe in the knowledge that their car is a late 80's/early 90's design and that it has no safety compared to a modern car.

That way when they do crash it they will probably die and hopefully anything they hit will be stronger (or ideally a tree/street furniture) and not a real person.

This lot are not worth messing with, because they have already shown they have a lack of mental ability by driving far too fast and close in rain/fog/snow/ice (delete as required).

most younger drivers will grow out of it, it's the 40/50 year olds that make me laugh, had some bloke in a Jag try to undertake me on a slip road, I think he was shocked that a yellow Ocy VRS was quicker that his expensive Jag :giggle:

I had a guy in a (rental?) Mundano try to pass me on the left twice this morning, both times getting stuck behind the traffic that I would have got stuck behind if I'd moved over, and having to push in behind where he was before! :giggle:

(Why did he think I didn't move over myself?!)

Then I was flashed by someone doing 50 in the inside lane because I deigned to pass him and then pull back in - a good three or four car lengths ahead of him - at the 'three stripes' sign for my exit off the motorway. Must have confused me for the Merc in that old Channel 4 ident! :wonder:

Agree with the above.

Why did you brake, flash hazards and slow down etc. Just carry on and pull in as soon as possible even if it means slowing down to get into the inside lane. Much better to let him past, think he has won the victory of passing you and have him in front rather than tailgating you!

That's what I have done in the past. Just pull over and let them get on with it!

Phil

I may be in a minority of one here but I totally disgree with with the title of this post.

Beancounter - you need to take a reality check because the Saxo driver didn't nearly kill you and your wife at all - you did!

Your gross over-reaction just served to antagonise the dozey tw4t and lead to even more bad driving from both of you - you were as bad as him! You turned a simple tailgating incident into an on-road battle that put you, your wife and who knows how many other people at serious risk.

Can't argue with that, TBH...

I think I was agreeing with you

Nope.

Drive as usual and ignore him. If you can't, tweak the rear view mirror so you can't see him right up your rear-end.

Braking, flashing hazards etc will be seen as confrontational and people rarely back down when their personalities are safe inside a metal box on wheels.

A few years back i found myself in the wrong lane, indicated and slowed down to change lane and a saxo in the lane next to me decided to have a laugh and blocked me by slowing down too, so i tried speeding up and he did too, unfortunitly for him he didn't realise i speeded up to beat the lights on the right turn lane and not to get infront of him. I made the right turn while the light was still green and as he was soo focused on me he made it into the back of the bus stopped at the red light in front of him Karma :giggle:

Years ago when i used to drive to london alot i used to use my rear fogs on bumper sitters, used to work quite well. Don't bother any more just ignore them and move over when i can, saves having to go to hospital or dealing with insurance companys due to a rear end shunt.

Had a space invader too close on the M25, it had 4 up teens, couldnt move over if I tired, fortunately had a rear seat passenger & they had a small digital camera, so I suggested that the passenger point the camera backwards to take a photo of how close they were, targetting the number plate, it was amazing how quick they backed off, at the 1st available space I pulled into it, gave them a stupid grin & waved, they must have thought i was nuts emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

can you get stickers that say

"IF YOU CAN READ THIS THEN BACK THE F**K OFF!"?

can you get stickers that say

Yes, they usually involve people thinking you are rude or a challenge to van drivers to see if they can get closer :)
