Cruise Control Warning Light

Featured Replies

Had a drive in MikeHolroyds 1.9 Elegance last week to see what the solid flywheel conversion was like. Anyway, Mike asked me if my cruise control warning light came on when cruise was engaged. To cut a long story short, it doesn't. Apparently (according to Mike) it doesn't on Simbo's L&K either.

So Mike turned on the cruise and on his, the orange cruise control warning light comes on in the speedo.

Apparently his never used to come on until Shark retrofitted his Maxidot.

So, does anyone else have a working cruise control warning light?

and more importantly, do you want to share the secret Ben and let us know where we can turn this on using VCDS????

Mine does, I have maxidot

Mine does as well. It worked in the original dashpod, and works in the maxidot

Mine comes on. No maxi dot ( Vrs TDi )

AFAIK it was implemented from MY 07 on. From the start of the TDI PD, production dates from aug 2006 on.

Before it symbol was already in the speedometer, it just didnt work.

mine works as it's post 07

Mine works - vRS and Maxi

I have a FL TDi VRS and the Green cruise control light comes on above the speedo, i dont have maxi-dot

My 02 and 05 Elegance didn't light up but my current 2009 Elegance does, in green.

This.

The cruise control light didn't work on my original cluster (MY06) but does on the vRS cluster that Ben (Shark Performance) retrofitted.

The light works on my Octavia which I think is the MY2007 model as it has the red calipers and Stream MP3 unit.

On my MY 2006 Elegance I could see the blank in the dash but it didn't light up.

Mate has a MY 2008 Elegance and that does light up

The MY 2007 got a few additions that I just missed on my late MY 2006 - as well as the cruise control light they got mp3 Stream and aux in socket in the Jumbo box.

I now have a MY 2010 FL Elegance and the cruise control light works - it is in a different place - in the band of "lights on" tell tales across the top part of the instrument pod.

Its mentioned on here:

http://www.octinfo.com/index.php?p=octavia2_MY_en#MY2007

According to that until the 2007 model year there was space for a warning light but no LED soldered in place, so it couldn't actually work.

Cheers - that explains it then. Mike's Maxidot cluster must have come from a 2007MY onwards.

I know that PumpeDuse's 06 Elegance has a working cruise light.

I wonder what MY and if the Maxidot was OEM or retro?

it did not work on my 2006 MY octavia Elegance as it left the factory, however once the dashpod was changed to a maxidot one the green cruise light worked.

Sounds like yet another MY thing Mike!

So the answer seems to be, for those of us with pre 2007MY cars we need to replace the dash to get a cruise control warning light!

Not the answer I was hoping for, I was hoping it was a coding thing :'(

The next question is this: Why do some have a green warning light, and other, like mine, an orange one? :wonder:

Mike

That's what I'm now wondering, my cruise control light is orange.
