How often do you use full W.O.T?

Featured Replies

I realised today (as I gave 2nd gear a blast and took some more rubber off the front tyres) that I very rarely actually use W.O.T on my car. OK, so I probably use half to 2/3 more often to make decent progress without causing traction issues, but W.O.T? Not often at all. Perhaps it is the time of year as well I guess.

Does this mean Wide Open Throttle? I don't that often, everytime I change or adjust something I have a WOT session :D

Quick get aways are needed from those Japs and Frogs every now and then (on a private road  of courseee..)

Probably twice a week only in one gear usually 3rd to clear soot and give the valves a workout.

usually fron 2.5 to 4.5 rpm

Depends on the mood - if I'm not thinking about petrol a couple of times every other day up to the top of 2nd gear (then straight into 5th) coming off a roundabout onto a long, wide NSL road.

If I remember the cost of petrol, not too often!

(All if safe etc of course )

I put shells vpower diesel in by mistake. That slowed me down :p

Would definatly slow my car down, that's assuming it moved!

It was the price that slowed me :D 141.9p/ltr :o if I used petrol I don't think I'd be going any where either :p

:o How much?! £122.9 for petrol here, 25 for derv. Think the speacil fuels are around the 33.9 /35.9 mark or so. Anyway, not to go off topic too much longer. . .

Diesel is about 1.34 around here. But thats not putting me off the odd bit of WOT. :D

Off topic again but interesting. Diesel is 131.9 at morrisons. Cheapest I've seen for a week

Not that often really :giggle:

Paid 133.9 for standard Tesco diesel today in Blandford, garage opposite work Diesel is 135.9 and UL is 133.9.

These days my engine never gets warm, the 1 mile commute each way means no chance to use WOT. I will tomorrow though, doing a 300 mile round trip this weekend, my car wont know whats happend, its only done 40 miles in January.

I have the same commute which is why at least once a fortnight I go to visit Mum or Dad as that means I get to join the M5 motorway - which means a bit of WOT to blow the cobwebs away. :D The only problem is I often find by the time the sliproad reaches the motorway I am actually going faster than the traffic on the motorway itself....

If i'm in the van, all the time :)

Daily, but I'm running stock power so I don't have traction issues to worry about unless it's greasy.

When someone is right up my chuff.

Oh and also when pulling out of a very small slip road onto a duel carriageway at the bottom of a hill where people speed a lot near my house.

Very rarely. I get quite scared, both by the speed, and 7mpg.

I give it the beans every now and then, if I remember the price of diesel (131.9p per litre)

Where and when appropriate really :)

Depends on the route and traffic, most of all. Can be a couple of times per journey, a couple of times a week perhaps.

If in doubt, flat out

WOT probably once a journey, so twice a day, but only for a few seconds at a time. Mostly its when pulling onto a dual carriage way and picking up enough speed to move over into the outside lane to get past any lorries.

The throttle on any car i drive is treated like a switch, 100% open or shut!!!!

Is that why the KWs I bought off you a while back didn't last as long as I hoped? :D
