Chatting with our dealer last night, they have been told to expect the new Octavia...

There is no information on the RS, but they have been told there will be a 130pd 4x4 - of course this may change, but that is what they have been told to expect.

Oh, and the Fabia RS should be with dealers in September.

when do we pre order a 2.7tt or a 3.2r?

Its suprising that we haven't seen some recent / accurate pictures if the launch is only 6 months away.

Glad that they're bringing the diesel 4x4 in (I have a lot of time for that combination after two diesel quattros), but more interested in the shape at the moment.

Fabia VRS should be available for dealers to order within the next couple of weeks.

2002 MY production started on 01.05.01 and 2003 MY production on 01.04.2002. By my reckoning the new Octavia should have been rolling off the production line for a while. No pictures anywhere? :confused:

So you say that our friendly day tripper (amongst others) has a MY04 on his hands - if he pulls through, that is - while I have one of the last MY03s?

I can't see how the MY04 would be any different, really, except for some minor spec changes such as the rear wiper arm.

You aren't seriously suggesting that they are building the new model right now? :confused:

Perhaps MY05 starts in January '04, but I will believe that launch date until I see it in an official press release. I mean, do you see VAG upstaging their show-stopping 2004 Golf MkV release by shoehorning the new Octavia in between? Of course not - they've done the A3, give that some time, then they will do the Golf, give that some time too, and then it's time for the cheaper cars on the platform. So I'd say autumn '04 at the earliest (but perhaps that's reserved for the new Leon/Toledo), with early '05 being a more obvious date.

Just looked at the page, I give up - where is the "Fotoshow" bit ?

If you look at this page and click in weitere fotos and look through them it appears that the RS interior in Germany is totally different to the UK version. (7th or 8th picture I think)

must say it's very odd that a new model will be at the dealers in about 6 months yet there has been no mention of it whatsoever in the press. i mean, there have been official pictures of the new 3 series and that's not due for release till late 05/early 06.

think of practically any new model you've ever heard about ( like rhinoceros, tigers cats and mink. erm, sorry just one of my tangents again.......) and you will nearly always have seen pics/read about it well in advance of the release.

i for one would be very surprised if it does actually come out in 6 months.
