Another Maxidot Question......

Featured Replies

I am now the proud owner of a Maxidot Dashpod ordered through Skodateile to retrofit to my pre FL 08 Octy VRS.....

The original plan was to get a willing dealer to do it whilst it was in for a service, however, can't seem to find a Stealer who is willing to do it :(

Does anyone know of a dealer in the North West who would be willing- im based in Wigan and work in Manchester

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide...

Your best bet is someone like Shark or a local brisky member with VCDS.

Just take a trip to Mansfield to see Ben at Shark Performance.

I don't think your average VCDS user will be able to do it with the need for immobiliser coding etc.

What about FL models ? I have one but i think maxidot in my 56 plate vrs was showing more things like picture of car when opened doors etc , this one looks like just simple trip computer ... I heard that FLs got maxidot as standard . How is it ?

Thanks

Seb

FL's don't get maxidot as standard.

Thats what i thought its only a trip computer like i used to have in my 58plate Superb II

Bickertons (Skoda dealer) in Sheffield will fit one but for service and price you can't beat Shark Performance

From personal experience I'd recommend Shark Performance for a Maxidot retrofit

Hah Shark was a first thing in my mind tbh :)

+1 for Ben at Shark performance.

He retrofitted my maxidot, and I cannot fault his work.

Mike

+2 likewise.

Not a million miles to Mansfield from around here either.

Cheers everyone - I'll give Ben a ring and get it sorted........

I'm impatient now though haha ...... want it done now! Hate the fact it's sat in my hall!

Hopefully my Zenec head unit will arrive today - and i'll fit that to keep me occupied till Shark can fit me in!

Do you need another recommendation to go and see Ben?? :D

Highly recommended from me too

Takes about 1hr 30 from here so not too bad, and you can have a nice drive over the top if you like, rather than M62/M1

Hour and a half isn't too bad - so yes i'll be going to Shark - just trying to call him to get it booked in!

I know it's wishful thinking, but hoping he says - just bring it in today haha!!!

does the standard display not show MPG etc ?? I only ask as I have ordered mine and misread the brochure and didn't get maxi dot now they cant change order apart from it looking FAR better what am I missing ? and how much would it cost for retro fit all in does anyone know ??

Well the Maxidot itself costs about 250.00 depending on exchange rate and fitting is around £60.00

Got mine from www.skodateile.cz - quick delivery and good service (apart from it being delivered when i wasn't in - grrrr at RM!)

Quiet a lot. Not sure it its possible to retrofit to a new build car either yet.

You get better more descriptive descriptions of things. Eg. which door is open, low screenwash, low oil level, when a bulb fails it tells you exactly which one rather than a generic bulb failure light. You can alter car settings which would otherwise need a dealer trip, and a lot more.

Standard display will show, range, mpg (instantaneous/constant), time, trip data and thats about it.

Cheer for reply most important one for me is the MPG ones hope I can git it changed at some point in the next year provided the car is actually delivered ............. due to be built in 2.5 weeks :D

As far as I can tell from reading numerous threads about this, the S (FL) and Classic (pre FL) spec get a very basic display that only shows time/odometer etc. Anything above S/Classic spec gets a trip computer that additionally shows MPG etc and the final level which is standard on L&K and DSG transmission cars and optional otherwise is the 'Maxidot' type display with the additional goodies outlined elsewhere.

Then again, I could be completely wrong...

I have orderd Maxidot for my Vrs,but would not have known about it if I had not been on this forum.I cant see why it is not standard or at least the sales staff at least mention it as a good upgrade. Also it is not the most expensive option.I would have been pee'd off if I didnt about it.

oh believe me I am that no one said to me when I was ordering got MDI and spare wheel etc but no mention of it I assumed standard :(

Are there various Maxidot part numbers that are compatible with different MY cars? Or does one fit all? Obviously diesel in a diesel etc.

8 variants as I understand it - PD-engined pre-FL std and vRS, petrol pre-FL inc TFSI - std and vRS, FL TSI petrol std and vRS and finally CR diesel std and vRS :)

Could you put a pre facelift VRS diesel or facelift in a pre facelift PD?

You can certainly put a pre facelift maxidot vRS diesel dash into a pre facelift diesel, but the vRS dash must be from the PD engine. The later CR engine used a different dashpod so it cannot be used.

I had a vRS PD170 dashpod fitted into my PD140 Octavia with no problems at all.

A PD vRS Maxidot set of clocks will go in a std PD car. But if the set was originally destined for a CR-engined model, than they won't work in a PD. And vice versa.

If that makes sense! Pretty sure this was the issue Brimma had - he sourced one but it turned out it was from a PD vRS and couldn't be made to work in his CR. Then Mike took it and it worked fine in his car PD140.
