vRS and black pack

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

As you may or may not know from my recent threads on the Fabia II forum, I’m on the verge of placing my order for a new Fabia vRS. I contacted the dealer to ask about the “black pack” that is rumoured to being made available on the vRS. He didn’t know the definitive answer straightaway, but said that he’d make enquiries with SUK on my behalf. What he came back with was very interesting indeed.

He said that the “black pack”, which would include the Monte Carlo’s grill and lights (didn’t say anything about the wheelarch or side skirt extensions) would be a no-cost option on the vRS. He also said that it would be available for cars built at the end of May.

He said that it’d be touch and go as to whether or not it would be available if I placed my order at the end of March, and the best thing to do to increase my chances of it being made available would be to leave my order as late as possible, whilst also ensuring that I benefit from the 20% vat off deal. I asked if a special note could be placed on my order so that by the time my car is being built, if the “black pack” is available, that it would be put onto my car. He assured me that special notes/requests like that were possible.

The chap I spoke to wasn’t the regular chap that I deal with at the dealership. He’s back next Monday (28th March), when I’ll have a proper good chat with him about this. I'll keep you posted on what he says.

Anyway, I thought this would be of interest to anyone contemplating getting a vRS, and who, like me, prefers the look of the Monte's front end.

Cheers

Statto

This is doing my head in; I asked the very same questions to my dealer and was told that the best they could do was a dealer fit of both grille surround and dark headlights and that it would cost me about £450!

I cannot believe that dealerships can be so inconsistent!

Perhaps I should ask my questions of Skoda UK.

I can! Some dealers are far too complacent - particularly those that have been established for some time. New dealerships can be far more cooperative. I got my current Mk1 from such a dealer at a very good price. Unfortunately, he has now become 'established'. :D

I think the black pack would suit a black car very well but personally I think the option will be a bit of a fad. Audi do the same thing with the A3 and I dont see any new ones with this on. I have to say the first few I saw when they first started doing it looked quite cool but now I think I prefer a little bit of brightwork.

In any case I actually think its a bit of a con to have to pay for these items when they are probably cheaper to produce than the standard items :-)

Here's a white vRS with the black pack:

How come this one has the plastic side thingies.

Noticed something else today in the Monte Carlo brochure, the black alloys don't appear to have the silver ring like they do on the vRS option.

Yes indeed, thank you.

Sweet

Monte alloys are a different style to the vrs alloys. Very similar, but actually a different wheel. And you're right, no chrome ring...

That looks great. I'm going to ask about the availability of the black pack when I go to order my vRS tomorrow.

That white one's nice. I was thinking of going for race blue but think I might save myself a few hundred quid and go for white. Wouldn't spec the side rubbing strips though. No self respecting car made in this decade should have them.

dont buy white, theres to many of them....

Been looking at the pics some more and personally I'm not sure how well the black headlights will work on the white.

Had another play in photoshop...

I think I may just go for the black grill for now.

Was about to order a se but love the look of the white with black roof

Actually, the more I think about this, the more I think this is Skoda's attempt to offer something like the Seat Ibiza Bocanegra. Does anyone else think this? However, whereas the black treatment on the Ibiza actually does make it look more aggressive compared to the Cupra, it just doesn’t seem to have the same effect on the Fabia. I think the Fabia’s styling is too cutesy for it to have the same effect. What it does help to do, I think, is link together all of the other black elements on the vRS (A-pillars, door mirrors, and roof and wheels if optionally specced).

I think it needs getting used to but I believe it looks great and different.

with the black roof and candy white the dark headlights look good, but dont like it on the all candy white VRS

Unfortunately I won't be able to order my car for a while - I'll definitely be ordering the black pack.

Is there a picture anywhere of a vRS estate in green? I have yet to see a picture of one.

This is interesting....

I ordered my Fabia VRS in white with Black Roof and wheels on 19th March and have been given a minimum 3 month waiting list on it which basically takes it until the end of June, would I more than likely get the "Black Pack"?

Sounds like you would - especially if dealers/factory are happy to do things like that, as suggested earlier in the thread.

Only if you explicitly specify it, as it's a no-cost option. Otherwise, i'm guessing it'll come out with the "silver pack(?!?)" fitted. That's why I asked my dealer (Silbury Skoda, Cramlington) if it'd be possible to put a special note on my order, that if the black pack was available at the time that my car is being built, that I'd want it fitted onto my car. He seemed to think that'll be ok, but i'd sooner speak to my regular guy, who's back at work next Monday, to check this out.

You should definitely be in right timeframe to spec the black pack, given the timescales you've been given.

I ordered ,y VRS in white with black roof and wheels on the 19th march aswell, interesting to see who gets theirs 1st. my dealer said a 4 month wait was likely! and that if black pack was available then i would definitely get it?? better give him a ring.

Cheers AshP, will call into my dealers tomorrow and ask... I will also keep you updated with the progress of my car

I ordered mine from Lightcliffe Skoda in Warrington and they said 12 weeks is likely

Sorry I should read more carefully, didnt realise its a no cost option! I would actually really like it but my car is build week 18 so dont see the point in asking for it as it will be a 2011 model not 2012. The new build changes take effect from week 22 I gather.

I get the impression from my dealer that the VAT free deal only applies to 2011 model year cars and that Skoda are trying to push all the VAT free cars through as 2011 builds. I therefore find it unlikely that anyone who is benfiting from the current VAT deal will get a 2012 MY car and in that case will not get the black pack. Be very interested to know if anyone does.

I see what you mean but if I'm due my car in Week 24 then in theory it should have the Black Pack if all cars built after Week 22 have it?
