vRS and black pack

Featured Replies

I got in touch with my dealer, and was told that yes, this pack may well be added to

the vrs in future for MY12 but that it is definately not a factory option at the moment.

He then went on to say that I can possibly get them to retro fit the items once it is build (at additional cost of course)

Went to my dealer last night to mention the Black Pack, they had heard of it on the vRS but didn't know too many details

I asked them to add to it my order form which they said they will and contact me today to confirm its been added. Seems like it might happen on my car then

Took a little road trip to Motorline in Dartford and Cantebury to have a look at their Rally Green demo in the flesh. (It's now up for sale if anyone's interested, 4800 miles, registered in July last year, they're asking £13k, has quite a few options but check the driver's door edge for a few paint chips. Call Daniel on 01227 784333)

Tony at Dartford kindly dug out the dealer bulletin about the week 13 sticker and week 22 "black pack". The bulletin states that revised prices for the vRS would be confirmed to the dealer when confirmed by Skoda UK.

Daniel didn't think it was possible to add requests or notes to an order. If that's the case then those of us that would like the black pack are just going to have to keep our fingers crossed that our build weeks fall after they start fitting the new grill and headlights.

One thing I have wondered......will the headlights be even worse on account of being mostly black (and non reflective) inside. I'd be tempted to put money on the fact that they perform even worse than the standard lenses. Interesting thought

When I get time time to upload I'll post a close up (ish) pic of the headlights on a Monte Carlo. I don't think they smoke the glass, just the back casing which hopefully won't affect the reflective bits.

I ordered my Fabia VRS hatchback on 21st March. I have been in contact with my dealer and apparently they received a briefing today stating that any VRS that havent been built yet will come with the Black Pack as standard. If that is true I will be extremely happy.

I still dont think any VAT free cars will come with the black pack. VAT free deal only applies to 2011 MY vehicles so I suspect we'll all get these. There may however be a lucky few that get it on theirs. Doesnt bother me either way to be honest, black pack does look quite cool but its not something i'm gonna lose sleep over. Car is on a 3 year PCP and will almost definitely be thrown back at Skoda when its time is up; i'm certainly not going to waste money changing it.

Excellent. That's good news to me and others on here who have recently placed an order or are on the verge of doing so. I'm test driving the vRS estate tomorrow, and all going well, I'll place my order the following week.

That is actually very interesting, we ordered our car end of Jan but its not due to be built until w/c 16th May. If they are starting to apply the black pack as a standard feature as of now (of course Skoda can alter the spec of their vehicles at any time) I assume this will mean our car will come with the black pack.

I thought the black pack was an MY 2012 change, perhaps its just a mid-life spec change after all.

Does anyone have conclusive written proof from Skoda UK on this topic yet? However the car comes is fine by me, really not that fussed but it would be nice to know for certain if we can expect the black pack to be fitted.

I've sent a message to Skoda UK regarding the black pack and if they know whether it is being applied to vehicles as of this comming build week. I will post the response as soon as I have it.......feel like a bit of a saddo have never been this bothered about a car before haha!

yeah that would be great pipsyp, would really like to hear it from skoda themselves rather than the dealers.

This 'Black Pack' business is a little unnerving. If they do change all vRS' accross the board from a certain date then on one hand you'll have a load of happy bunnies; and another collection of customers who are peeved at not having a car arrive which is specifically what they ordered. I like the black pack, but im not sure it will suit the colour scheme I have ordered (March 14th - Rallye Green / Black Roof / Dark Chrome Wheels). It's no minor tweak and I'd prefer to have been in the loop from day 1. Oh well, im sure if it comes with the Black Pack and I dislike it they'll swap it back if I kick off :wonder:

Well, I went and test drove the vRS estate as promised today. Whilst sitting in the saleman's office, I asked about the black pack. He said that it would be available, and produced a memo that they'd received on the 21st March. The memo described the "black pack" as comprising the darkened grill and lights, so the wheelarch extensions and sill extensions aren't included. The most interesting thing was that the memo stated that from week 13, "The Fabia vRS will come with the "black pack" as standard... New prices for the vRS will be advised". I was waiting for the salesman to leave the office so that I could take a photo of the memo and post it on this site, but there was no way he was going to let it out of his sight.

Anyway, it looks like us lucky buggers are going to benefit from this update to the vRS, less than 12 months since it was released. That and the VAT free deal makes it an irresistable proposition. Roll on Monday when I'll be placing my order.

I'm starting to get really ****ed off with this black pack stuff and it's starting to make me wish I'd never ordered the thing. How is it so hard for the dealer and/or skoda to tell me what the car will look like when it arrives? I think I'll cancel my order for the extra lights and grille and just see what it finally turns up with.

The gentleman from Skoda UK that called me earlier this week (twice as he went away to confirm the wording with colleagues) and the salesman at Dartford (reading from his folder of bulletins) both said the grill and headlights was from week 22. Week 13 was when they start adding an IRC Winner sticker to the rear window and a badge (somewhere?) on the front.

You know, you're right there. I've got a memory like a sieve. That's why i was trying to take a piccy. You've jogged my memory about the IRC sticker though. Glad that your dealer has said the same as mine, that is, that the black pack is coming. I hope the waiting list is long enough that mine's built in a week that's at least 22.

Well hopefully this will clarify any doubts anyone has on this subject.

Had a nice chat to a guy at SUK this morning, he advised that the black pack will become standard fitment on the vRS for the 2012 build year (from week 22). Therefore I expect very few of us (if any) benefiting from a MY 11 VAT free deal will get a car with the black pack.

This business about the black pack being added to the car from this week (week 13) appears to be a load of tosh.

When exactly is week 22? Surely if one is ordered on the last day of the vat free offer and with the extended leadtimes... it should fall after week 22? :|

Maybe the week 13 confusion was perhaps any car ordered after week 13 would come with the black pack, given the waiting time?.

Any info regarding the part number of the black headlights?

I hope they don't fit this as standard on all vRS's. It looks good on some colours, looking at the photoshopped pics here (thanks InsQuoOrgUk), but personally I think it looks awful with Candy white. And of course I've ordered a vRS estate in white. Unfortunately my order is through a leasing company so I don't even have a dealer to talk to.

w/c 30th May...maybe a few people will end up with 2012 cars but I expect it will be very few.

 Thanks.

yep confirmed via phone from Skoda UK that my Vrs (due to be built week 15) is 7 weeks too early for the black pack and that it will be fitted as standard on all vrs' after w/c 30 May. I am a bit annoyed its not a factory option yet as I think it'd look awesome on my new car. Not sure I want to pay my dealer 400 quid plus to fit it either....
