Had a call today to say my Yeti, delivered on the weekend of April 16/17 to Grimsby, will be in York on April 27 and I can collect it on April 29.

Anyway, I hope there won't be any further delays because this has now gone on for long enough.

Went in to the dealer today to order a cool / warm box which they may be able to get before I pick my Yeti up on Friday. If not, it doesn't matter because I can call for it later on.

Mustn't forget to sort the free Skoda 7-day insurance on Tuesday, didn't realise how easy it was for them to tax the car. Gone are the days when you have to get a cover note from your insurer and have it mailed to the garage so they can physically go to an office to tax it. These days it is all done on the internet, which I didn't realise.

Just a small point, make sure your dealer taxs the car for a full year (ie until April '12) or you will lose nearly a full month. I picked mine up on the 30th of the month and the tax disc shows its covered for 12 months and a few days.

Enjoy your Yeti on Friday!

Hi, I agree, make sure they tax it for a year the last new car I bought was only taxed for 6 months, didn't notice until I got it home! but I'm afraid there's no disc that lasts longer than 12 months even by ONE day as it's only valid from the first day of the month it was bought for and an over zealous lawman could actually prosecute you for displaying an invalid disc. I'm sure this also applies at the running out end and the fabled days of grace are just that!

Hi Andy,

when registering a new vehicle for the first time, there is a proceduer in place to tax that vehicle for 12 months and up to an additional 7 days, if the vehicles intended registration date falls within the last week of the month.

Have done this a couple of times in the past, helps both dealer and customers, otherwise the beginning of every month might get a tad busy, with buyers holding off picking up their new motors.

TP

Hi TP,

I must admit I haven't heard of this before although I have been out of the motor trade for a while now! I know the rules are constantly changing but I would still feel a little uneasy about driving on the road before the start date of the disc but that's just me!

Looking on the bright side my SM has been built and awaiting shipping (built week 15) so really looking forward to joining the clan :)

Well following Wakev's post yesterday re the Main Highway I've been ship spotting again  Shes just birthed in the same spot that the Elbe Highway did, when she collected my WK14 build Monster and delivered her to Sheerness last week. So hopefully that's the next destination.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you if yours is heading for a southern dealership

Thanks very much Andy. I've just checked the order form and it includes tax at a cost of £125 so that's for a year. Hope I don't lose a month's fee by buying it on April 29 but accept that may be the case.

Heck I hope she's on there!! I really need to get a life! I'm going to miss all this excitement, better order another one straight away :giggle:

If you check now you will see that she is underway (still in the river and making 9.7 kph) and due into Sheerness at 0600 hrs tomorrow morning.

Hopefully, mine will be on it too (it's been built for over a week now !!)

Well, the Thames Highway has unloaded and on it's way so I suppose it's just sit back and hope for the best now!

Pity they don't seem to have a live web cam there............. heck I really need to get out more :(
