buy a Fabia VRs once they've finished their test drive.

My mate took his Fabia to have a panel sprayed and they told him this was the result of a survey their dealership carried out. Not bad statistics!

I'm one of the 21% that didn't buy it after the test drive..........as I wasn't sure if I should go for the Ibiza or fabia, after the ibiza test drive my mind was made up :D

It would be interesting to see how many people bought a fabia after a Ibiza test drive :P I mean it jest Ibiza owners :D

Not bad at all.

I think I held out for a few hours afterwards though ;)

Bought my first TDI whilst still revising for my finals at univeristy - no test drive, just a brochure and a good chat with a salesman.

Glad skoda are doing well.

My dad and I bought ours straight after getting back to the dealer from the test drive!

It was a bloomin good job too, as we were doing all the paperwork a guy was looking all around the furby we just bought...the dealer then said...see that gentleman, he just came to buy your car, he test drove it last week!

The guy looked absolutely gutted. Didnt really want to rub his nose in it so stayed inside until the deal was done and then went out after he left like...woohoo :D

I never bought mine straight after as I went to look for the best deal. But I was also one of the people who bought the Fabia over the Ibiza after taking that out for a drive which certainly made my choice clear. However I drove the Ibiza then the Fabia but it was still an easy decision.

Well we didn't go into our dealears to buy the Fabia vRS we actually went in for a test drive in the Octy vRS.... Signed up straight after the test drive of the Fabia...

And presumably because of this need to buy that is why orders are 150% more than Skoda expected.(true, not making it up  ).

We sat in the ibiza. That was enough to say no thanks, don't want to test drive it :nol2:

Unfortunately, the hype surrounding the vRS will soon wear off and depreciation will kick in, also it'll mean our little club isn't so little and the Chav attack will start.

It's not a little club any longer - but it's still a great motor. Devaluation no doubt will start, but that's pretty normal ;)

Skoda pricing has been going up for this model, whereas the cheaper ones are getting more toys chucked in for free, so the demand is still there.

I don't mind either way - I ordered it as it is a well-built, decent driving motor with a fair bit of potential for future tuning without breaking the bank (although there is even more potential to break the bank based on remap stories :D :D )

I'm not so sure any more about that. I did think that for a while, but in the end I think too many chavs (thankfully):-

a. Cant get over the fact its a Skoda and

b. Cant get over the fact its a diesel

At least thats the impression I get when I read about it on other forums. Long may it stay that way :)

FWIW, I have never, ever seen a chav driving a vRS of any description.

true but that is changing, I hope it doesn't as I dont want my car to be a chav-mobil!! I've had peugeot's and citroen's and all hve them have fallen it to that group............I hope and pray skoda never goes there

To be fair though Citroens have always been favoured by chavs... remember the old AX GT? Peugeot had the 205, 309, 106 etc... you can see where I am going... it seems like many people I talk to, and other forums suggest that they just cant live with the badge, let alone the fact its a diesel.

I think most chavs would probably choose the Ibiza FR TDI or possibly the 206 GT HDI if they were looking for a sporty diesel, and I certainly think the Ibizas styling is more "chav" than the Fabia's having been in both.

I think we're safe... for now :)

I'm another one of the 21% whose wife insisted (quite strongly) that we needed a bigger boot. :(

And you didn't give her one?

Well I didnt succumb.

The only rock-solid way to avoid that is to buy a car that now falls into the "retro" category - something that was cool when it came out, descended into the realms of chavdom as it became cheaper, then got too old for the chavs to like it anymore but is still a top car. Examples that spring immediately to mind are the mk1 golf, mk1 and mk2 escort, or dare I even say it, the capri

Think about it, ten years ago most people would have thought driving a capri was a major statement of your tragic lack of taste... but if somebody offered you a mint 280 Brooklands or Tickford edition now, you probably wouldn't look at it in the same way... :D

PS I bought my vRS having test driven the Seat Leon Cupra diesel first. The Leon's cool but the build quality and general feel of solidity just doesn't cut it like the Skoda. Plus I'm tight and it cost a couple of grand more

I definatley think that test driving can sell I had my Fabia Saloon n for rpairs, and the man was "sorry!"That the only courtesy car avaliable was a bran new Octavia (New shape), and he was sorry!................

Came back that afternoon and bought it there and then, If they had had a fabia as a courtesy car, I'd still have a fabia saloon I reckon

And you didn't give her one?

He did , but thats another story ;)

If Skoda start doing something silly like free insurance then it will become a Chav Mobil.

too true but I dont think they will, the VAG group believe they dont need it to sell cars, only poorly made cars would need that. (qouted by a VW salesman) :D
