Are people happy with their 1.2 TSI.

Featured Replies

Just wondering if most people are happy with their 1.2 TSI 105s, I have a Monte on order, I am swapping from a Renault Clio 1.5 dci 105,cant justify a diesel now as I am doing mainly town driving.

Got the same engine in a Yeti, which is bigger and heavier.

It's nice with the DSG box and doesn't struggle at all unless you want to do illegal speeds on the Motorway.

Great for town and country lanes.

So quiet at idle people think it's got stop-start like my Greenline II.

don't think I've read many complaints.... Mike Wrightson up here has attended meets in his, and keeps up with the vRS's well too ;) a cracking engine by all accounts

Well, it did surprise an Octy owner with how quick it was :giggle: no match for one on outright pace though. I love the 1.2, it is one of the best engines I've had in any car. At last, a small petrol engine that you don't have to rev the t*ts off to make it move. With 50mpg capability too, I'm a very happy camper :)

+1

Very happy with my 105tsi Monte

I love my TSi 105 amazing little engine grunts from no revs like a diesel once out of first gear it never fails to amaze me where it gets its torque. 55mpg on the motorway at a steady 66mph then pulls well into illegal speeds and still returns 47mpg. Only regret was not getting an estate, maybe next time but deffo stick with the 105.

Really love my 105 tsi dsg, goes like stink especially on the right road and in sport mode, very relaxing and quiet. I do a lot of short journeys in a hilly area and manage 45+ mpg and more than 50+ on motorway journeys which is a match for my old 1.2 htp and not that far off my 1.4 TDI fabia from a few years ago, but this one has plenty more power in reserve and sits at a really low rpm on motorway. agree that it will pull from just over 1000rpm with no issues. only couple of negatives are the dsg hesitancy in some situations, on hills it insits on changing down too many gears and three point turns can be met with wheel spin if you press throttle too quick to pull away. Agree with Tsifly wish I had bought the estate version as well. But overall big thumbs up for an awesome little engine a good cross between diesel levels of torque and flexibility and petrol performance and smoothness and in the middle for fuel economy.

I agree 1.2 TSi is a fabulous little engine. I've only driven an 86ps model but it impressed. Can only imagine how good the 105 model is. Unless you are doing mega miles you'd be daft to buy the 105 CR diesel in favour of the 105 TSi.

Very very very happy. Getting 35 odd mpg out of it but I drive it hard. More than capable of keeping a Mini Cooper at bay and not much slower than a vRS.

A lot faster than Skoda say it is as well!

lol @ not much slower than a vRS :D Made me laugh!

I have driven both and I can tell you the vRS with its 75bhp advantage is alot quicker...

Anyway, the 1.2TSI is an awesome engine, parents test drove a Yeti with this engine and loved it, although they went for a bigger engine as carry alot of people/luggage and better for the motorways.

I've got the Estate version and wondered if it would be a bit too heavy, but can confirm it still flies when you need it.

he might be talking about the vrs mark 1

I love my TSI which is only 86bhp but it is nippy and does me fine.

he might be talking about the vrs mark 1

I hope so, even then the MK1 is alot quicker, I have one :)

The 86bhp one pulls well! Can only imagine what my 105bhp one is going to be like when it arrives :D!!

I'll give you the Mini Cooper, but it is nowhere near as fast as a vRS. I've just been out for a drive with my bro and Sharkrider. I could keep up on twisty roads, as soon as you get some straight and open sections, the vRS's will pull away easily.

That's not to say the 1.2 is slow, it has enough power to be genuinely fun

I've got an Estate 105TSI DSG, it has only done 2000 miles but I can't get 50MPG, even with gentle driving the best I have seen is 47MPG and at 70 on the Motorway withcruise on I am only getting 45MPG !!!! I hope that it improves. Other than that, it's great to drive and better than my previous 2007 1.9 Diesel Estate.

Thanks everyone for your replies, its good to know that everyone likes their Skodas, think I would get a different response if I asked the Renault owners what they thought of their cars ( although I have had no probs.)

Do you have the air-con running? It will increase consumption if you do. My best on a motorway at 70mph was 50.3 in one direction and 47.5 coming back the other way. It's still young yet, and there is plenty of time for it to improve.

We,ve found the 1.2 105 engine amazing! Previous car to this was a Seat Ibeza 1.4, which performed awfully (mind you, it replaced a Fabia 1.9 VRS!).

But the 1.2 has exceeded all expectations - pulls well, "comfy" to drive (doesn't need thrashing) and is returning good mpg. Overall, very satisfied!

do you all think that the new 1.2 86 tsi is a lot better than the three pot 1.2 fabia sport which ive got now and which i can't fault it

because ive ordered a roomy tsi thaks pete

I would say yes purely because of the extra torque.

thanks mike i shall let you you now how it goes pete

TBH, I think you'll notice quite a big difference, even with the 86bhp engine, against the 12v.
