Why has the VRS held it's value so well compared to a PD130 Ibiza?

Featured Replies

As per the title really.

Ok so the early Ibiza Sport PD130's started a year before the VRS (02 v 03) but high mileage (100k+) examples of the Ibiza are down around the £2000 mark whereas a Fabia of the same mileage has about £1500 on that price.

Having owned both I struggle to see why.....

To be arnest I disagree with that, with what ive seen indeed some of the early higher millage ibiza cars do seem to be remarkably cheap. But of all the other milleage and year combination the ibiza seems a more expensive buy, am not to sure why maybe people desire a 3door hot diesel hatch. Regardless I would always have a skoda and this is from a 21 year old haha

The only Ibiza I could really consider is the Cupra TDi

The pd130 fr tdi is the fabia vrs's true match and the prices are around the same if not dearer for an ibiza

it's because the vRS is beautiful and unique?

i do love the responses this place brings out! :)

so where are all the cheap VRS's?

Say someone wanted a PD130 for a "project" then an 02 plate Ibiza Sport with 120k for £2200 is a no brainer over £3500 for a 53 plate Fabia with 117k?

If you're wanting a car as a project, then the ibiza is as good if not a better base car, however as a car to live with every day, I'd say the Fabia wins hands down. The interior is a much nicer place to be IMO, that and Briskoda is much better forum than SCN B)

I dunno the light seats are a b--stard to keep clean and i liked the colour coding around the dials of my old Ovni Yellow Beezer.

Now having experience of SCN thanks to Pasty Wagon #2 I have to agree about which forum is better though.

Just be nice to have a racing Fabia rather than a racing Ibiza :wonder:

I agree about the seats, but they are pretty comfy, hold you in pretty well, and look good once clean.

All it takes is £££s :giggle:

'tis the £££'s that are in short supply hence looking at cheap Ibizas :)

Given my Fabia is heading rapidly towards 100k I'm conidering buying a lower mileage P130 Ibiza for everyday and donate PastyWagon #1 to the cause :D

If I was going for an Ibiza, I'd start with the Cupra TDi. A bit more expensive, but... PD150 turbo, Seat Sport FMIC, 4-pot 312mm brakes and of course the PD160 intake all as standard.

That would persuade me to look over the quality of the interior

A PD160 intake as standard?! Holy cow it much be a beast of a car AND i'd save almost £100!!

I'm sold where do i sign!

Wonder if it's purely as the vRS gets more press coverage, and is just generally well more known?

Posher than the Fabia too with audio controls on the wheel, climate control, leccy rear windows.

Is expensive though! Wonder how much that 09 registered SE went for?

ive been a member of seatcupra since 2007, and would have argued that this forum was better, but over the past year or so seatcupra.net has fallen quite badly, including the recent removal of the accessories for sale section, the way some moderators have been speaking to some members is shocking, you have to watch what you say and post now just so your thread or readers rides page which have been worked on for years dont get deleted, so yeh you may well be right in saying this is a better forum, or at least it doesnt feel so much like 'big brother' here.

Because your paying for the name.....:rofl::rofl:

The Ibiza is ****?

I used to have a PD130 Sport, made it my own and it was awesome. However, the vRS is leaps ahead in terms of build quality, something that shows in the new ones too. Having recently looked at a new Ibiza FR/Cupra and new vRS I can safely say i'm glad I went for another Skoda, its cheaper too.

PD130 Ibiza is not the top of the range, the Cupra in both Petrol and Diesel versions tops it.

Ibiza facelift did a little more than the Fabia facelift. My bro's 06 130FR has 17s, Cupra style bumpers and all the interior shiny bits.

Also maybe, the Ibiza hasn't really changed its spots/shirt. The newer models are a well received evolution of the older ones. I can't quite say the same of the Fabia II. It's styling and options were all a bit of a disappointment when it came out.

J.

it's horses for courses, and whilst it's not strictly speaking a like for like comparison (isn't comparing apples to oranges what diesel drivers are all about?)but the Ibiza exceeds my requirements in terms of fit/finish/build, doesn't have two doors two many and where it matters to me was a higher standard spec than a vRS: ESP not ASR, climate control not air conditioning, bigger brakes, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, bigger wheels and no comedy ride-height

I don't think either car is particularly good looking, but the Fabia is certainly more old manish and possibly hit a few more branches as it fell out of the ugly tree. I also prefer the looks of the Ibiza's interior and as I don't actually spend much time squeezing the dash the soft-touch plastics are no great loss

I`v got a few mates with the ibiza`s, and a few with fabia`s. As above, its all down to personal choice really isnt it? I`m not a fan of the inside of the inside of the beza, plus they were more to insure for me at the time.

Matt
