stupid less than useless MDI media system....

Has anyone had any success with USB flash drives or SSDs?

I would buy a smallish GoFlex but they don't appear to do them anymore. And the larger ones are expensive/overkill. Would sooner spend a little more and get a (what you'd expect to be a) super quick solid state drive.

I had (still have it! lol) an 8 gig memory stick, that I used to use in the fiats blue & me media system (much better system) and it was fine, but in the skoda it took ages to start playing, and sometimes hours, so never played at all! thats when I bought the go-flex, and its almost an instant boot up, starting where you left off...this is what I have... still available http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seagate-FreeAgent-GoFlex-250GB-2-5-inch-USB-2-0-Portable-Hard-Disk-Drive-/320865307625?pt=UK_Computing_HardDrives_RL&hash=item4ab5100be9

I didn't realise Skoda recommended a particular make of hard drive

I've been using a 320Gb Western Digital My Passport for ages on my MDI in the Octavia - I just needed some free software off t'interweb to re-format it, since then it's worked fine

I'm sure any USB powered hard drive will be fine :) as long as its FAT32 formatted.

  • It's my understanding that they don't make an official recommendation, more that it's known that GoFlex was a good size and owners had good experiences with them. Probably from threads they've read on

I'm using a corsair voyager 8gb stick no problems and no delays.

I use an 8GB flash drive that I've used for the last 4 years. Boots up where I left off every time even when I add music provided I haven't deleted the track I was listening too

I used my 8gb memory stick in my Grand Punto T-jet, that had the blue & me system on it and your right a very good bit of kit. I also was able to use the same memory stick in my fabia once I brought the usb adapter with no problem, I think it's a scan disk.
