This is getting far to common as skoda has been sucked onto VAG group, never used to be like this I have been with skoda for over 20 years and this is the sign of the times I'm afraid, SUK are worthless I've told them to phone me and I'm still waiting over a week as regards the c.e.o of skoda anyone with full name and address please as this will be helPful, enjoy the car but next time go some where else all the best!

Who are the dealership so people on the forum can avoid em.

The dealership is not budging much...and using it as a runaround..... :swear: all you want to do is :punch: their :swear: faces in! :swear:.... Writ a nice polite letter to the Head bloke at the Dealership confirming the phone-call in writing and your grievances...this is to put in in writing....much more difficult to sweep under the carpet (recorded post or deliver in person...then cover letter to SUK with copy of letter to dealership...so that they have for the record/file!!!! Then check car over with a fine tooth-comb everytime you get it back and take photos before you put it in for service...this is a sad society we live in I'm afraid!!! But it sounds like the salesman's been sacked  and the owners been kicked out of bed to speak to a customer!! B)

does not matter if he was sacked! ,he was employed at the time to sell cars the boss man knows that, they should have honored the deal :wonder:

The new car - the chain's owner assures me that it was just being moved from their lockup around the corner, but he's going to investigate fully tomorrow.

I've spoken to the owner at length now. He rang me at about 6.45 in the end.

We've agreed a deal, but frankly it's a deal that's disappointing. He has apologised at length, and that's goes some way to repairing the faith I've lost with them (but not all the way). I was misled by the original salesman, and there's very little the owner can do about it - I accept that, and at least he has been honest with me.

The details are long and complicated, but the summary is:

- I was mis-sold 2 years free servicing, which the dealer is now having to fund out of their pockets

- I was misled on the price, and the salesman cocked up some of the price calculations and the order form.

- The Sales Manager, having realised his and his colleagues' mistake (and being obviously embarrassed about it) has run around like a headless chicken promising things he can't afford.

- As a result everything he has suggested to his manager has been rejected as being unaffordable.

It got to a point in the discussion where the owner was able to offer 3 years free servicing, and the cost of the missing option removed, and that left them with roughly £40 margin.

I'm happy that they've done their best to try and resolve a situation which was largely caused by an unscrupulous salesman who is no longer with the company, and have settled, and decided to take the car.

That said, I'm unable to recommend said dealership to any other forum members...

I would have expected some good will, but can accept that financially they'd be better off waving me goodbye and selling the car to someone else. There's not a lot they can do about a misleading salesman who's no longer with them I guess.

Some of you might feel I'm rolling over too early, but I need a car to drive, and can't afford for this to go on forever.

I haven't yet decided whether I'll log a formal complaint - I might do, but I'm emotionally drained now and just want to enjoy my new car as much as it's now possible to. The case is still open with SKODA UK, and I might still write to the CEO.

The end. Hopefully.

Hi Louisv6, all in all a bad experience. I have to say when you buy a car your experience is only ever as good as the salesman you deal with, sounds like the guy you dealt with was a bit of a d**k.

If its any consolation at least the big cheese contacted you and made the effort to apologise for the poor treatment. I imagine realistically they could have been a little more giving RE discount on the car but at least you got the option money back and 3 years free servicing isnt to be sniffed at as thats another good few hundred quid you're going to save. I would definitely ask them what accessories they can throw in, I would expect at very least a set of mats and a full tank of fuel and a lead for the MDI (which they do have to provide, SUK have confirmed this).

Still dont let the experience spoil things too much for you, you have a very nice new car which will be a lot of fun :-)

Does that give us a clue who to avoid?

Having kept tabs on your unfortunate experience, there is one question that sticks out .

How come the dealer had all your money before you saw the delivered car and was able to check it was the correct one ?

On any car i have purchased, I have left a deposit on the preferred car, and not paid the balance till I have given the car the once over & agreed its what I want,

When I bought the Fiat 500, they wanted all the money up front, but I refused, & told them that they will only get the balance once I had seen the car, & to ring me when it arrived, They did call when it arrived, I checked that the car was what I ordered, only then did i do an electronic transfer for the balance & collected the car immediately the transfer was confirmed complete. The 3 Days extra wait to clear funds was worth waiting for as I got exactly what i ordered & if I walked away it was only £500 deposit lost.

Good luck with the car, SWMBO has a little cracker despite the missing Items, & as far as rear windows are concerned, If you see the baby managing to wind these down, please video it & let us all see as it will mean you have a super strong baby ;):o

I have to say its not typical for a dealer to want the full funds up front. From experience they tend to want a deposit (normally £500 if its Skoda we're talking about) and the balance is settled on collection.

I wouldnt ever pay up front for a car as I feel £500 is still alot of money to lose should you pull out of the sale (as by and large it is non refundable).

It was the 3-day-week of the bank holiday, and I was basically pressured into transferring the funds via CHAPS before the car was delivered, as it would mean I could get the car a week early.

Now I look back on it, that was slightly daft of me, and clearly their motivation was to bank the sale before the end of the month.

My first new car, and so I've gone into this a bit naive.

glad you have it sorted mate - at least now you can draw a line under it all and (hopefully) start to enjoy your new car

:) Sort of.

You could always go and ask him where he worked :)

If you dig around in my posts enough I'm sure you'll figure out where I've been shopping for Skodas.

Not sure if he is still in charge but it use to be a Guy called Robert Hazelwood, try a search using the name and Skoda UK may come up with something

Mr Will Fisher is the Customer Relations Manager at SUK. I sent an e-mail to Mr Hazlewood and recieved a reply from Mr Fisher.

Thanks. Haven't quite decided whether I want to pull myself back into the darkness by pursuing this further... I'm leaning towards not - as life is stressful enough already!

Know what you mean!!! So long as you DO write as I have previously stated within say 14 days of recieving the car (gives you time to look car over and catch your breath) just to put the whole sorry affair on record at SUK and the dealership.....otherwise they say "we didn't know and if you feel so strongly about it why didn't you complain" B)

Well, picked her up. All in all pretty happy.

Dealer gave me a bunch of flowers for the missus and I got an apology from both the sales manager and the branch manager, along with 3 yrs free servicing and a full tank of fuel.

I wouldn't tell the dealer this, but 'normal' air con (although less pretty) is actually far nicer to use than climatronic (that's all I've ever had in my VAG cars in the past, so never experienced 'normal' air con before).

Glad you are happy - 3 years servicing is nice too!

Enjoy! I know I am!

:'( NOOOOOOO :( The first car we've ever had with climate control & your telling me it's rubbish. I must admit reading the online manual 22 degrees seem's rather warm.

Don't get me wrong - there's nothing rubbish about climatronic - it's just a different way of setting the temperature.

The truth is although theoretically you're supposed to be able to set it at a particular temperature and leave it, sunlight and ambient temperature mean you're forever adjusting the temperature up and down anyway (at least I am).

Which means having a big knob with a hot end and a cold end is just as useful (if not as attractive).

At least, that's my take on it so far.

How time's change my first car back in 1982 [Hand painted midnight blue 1972 ford cortina] I was satisfied with just opening the window's by hand , cause the winder had broke

Quite agree - the current Citreon has Climatic control that needs you to take your eyes off the road to see which of the two sets of rocker switches you are working with and then to see the LCD display to see what temperature you are adjusting.

With the Fabia SE on order, went specifically for old fashioned air con the with knobs because you just reach and turn intuitively without taking your eyes off the road.

I think too many designers have forgotten ergonomics in favour of pseudo "nice-looking" LCD/rocker switches.
