VRS arrived... but with the wrong spec

Featured Replies

emoticon-0106-crying.gif to hear of your plight; had the same issue in 2009 with a Yeti order; missing options on its arrival in the UK :(

Decided in the end to re-order with additional discount given by the retailer on the purchase price of the replacement vehicle. No car to keep me going offered but at the time I had an old van I no longer used and had planned to sell, so that filled in.

Hope you get sorted,

TP

I don't see how speccing the car to how you want it is the same as setting your money on fire.

You dont get your money back on TV's either so whay buy a 50" HD set when you could watch the same programmes on a 32" set. Why waste your money on beer, expensive holidays, designer clothing, higher spec pc's, latest phones, ipads, etc etc.

We buy loads of things that we don't see any money back on, I'm on my 7th Home Cinema amp, this one cost nearly £2k. It's all about choice and what products and gadgets we want to make our lives that bit easier and more enjoyable.

Not everything in life is a purely financial decision.

Skoda don't sell climate control as an 'iffy sort of ok, but probably not worth a lot', product. They sell it as a premium complex and integrated solution to keeping the interior of the car at a comfortable temperature and humidity, in which to drive. So i would definitely reject the car. Climate is a biggie to me.

The climate control section of the dash is also nicer looking than the basic dials on the standard air-con version.

And you're going to notice that every time you drive the car...

I believe the basic air-con is plastic dials like the mkI ?

The Climatronic has a screen to show you what it's doing, plus symetrical (it's important ;) ) chrome ringed dials and a range of buttons to direct the air flow exactly how you like.

The leather pack and the Climatronic makes the cabin a nicer place to be... B)

The climate control dials look SO much nicer! I've never used the climate control in my car car which is dual zone .. I normally just fire the A/C on but the dials of the climate control in the fabia look nicer than the naffy A/C normal dials!

Have to admit, now seeing the Climatronic working - that is quite whizzy looking.

Had it on my Skoda Octavia vRS and my previous Octavia Mk2, oh and both Ibiza's...

Do prefer the "temperature" approach.

Really gutted for you mate as I remember your first posts on here asking for advice, the car you were coming from etc and you didn't deserve this. Sounds like it's made you quite unhappy. :S

If they can supply you with a car you are willing to take in the mean time and the wait for a new car is acceptable, then do it. Otherwise, compensation it is. If you take the compensation though, the matter is well and truly closed.

Take the former and everything rumbles on but you do get the car you always wanted. What does SWMBO think?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

SWMBO isn't best pleased (to say the least). For her the rear leccy windows (from a kiddie-safety perspective) are important.

For me, I'm not that bothered (as I never flung myself out of a moving car when I was a kid), but I'm pretty grumpy about the climate control. That said, £1000 off the price we *were* going to pay is an attractive proposition.

As of Tuesday morning I don't have a car to drive, so for now I've got one of their courtesy cars, but that's just a temporary measure until we get this sorted.

My brother in law is spending the weekend with us and used to be an Audi salesman, so I'm hoping he can give me some useful tips on how to get what I want (as soon as I figure out what the hell that is...).

Still very sore about this :-(

Tell her it does have automatic windows in the back, all she has to do is stretch her arm back past the seat and she can wind them up again! (Similar to a mate of mine who said he had central locking... he got in and stretched out his arm and opened the other three doors... can't argue with that! :D )Then there's:

http://www.in-car-stuff.com/shop/electric-window-conversion-windows-p-150.html

Or the scrappy for a written off set!

Sting 'em for what you can if you do decide to go ahead!

YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT!!!!

Trying to fit elec rear windows involves not just the motors and frames, but also a new wiring loom for the drivers door!!! And how will this affect the warranty!!!!

From a safety point of view (especially with kids in back) you can lock the rear window switches and have total control over them from the drivers door panel!!!

My 10year old Fabia Elegance MKI had elec rear windows as standard, so does the current version...as from a resale point of view I would buy one with it over one without as many people wrongly assume that the VRS is the "Top" model! B)

To echo everyone else, after waiting so long for the car to turn up and not be what you ordered would not be acceptable to me either.

Without wanting to hijack the thread, there is a good chance my on order VRS will come with the "black pack" which is not what I ordered and no one from the dealership as made any mention of it either. I realise it is different to missing options but it will still not be the car I ordered.

Back on topic....I think I would reject the car and want a loaner until my correctly spec'd car arrived, hope the dealership comes good for you mate

Well, the sales manager (who I the one who messed up the order and who I've been dealing with) promised he'd get back to me either on Thursday or saturday.

Not heard a peep.

They've got £15.5k of my money sat in their bank, my (incorrectly specced) car sat out back, I've sold my old car, an they're trying to turn this to their advantage (because if they can keep the one out back and order me another one they get two lots of commission).

If they register the incorrectly specced one as a demonstrator and let me drive that until the correct one shows up, it costs them barely nothing because they can write off the depreciation against tax. But they don't get two lots of commission that way.

Starting to feel royally screwed by them, and that's not how a paying customer who was earning 3% interest on his money should be treated.

Plus I'm carless, need an auto with comfy seats or my back starts playing up, and my wife is pregnant and angry.

Really had enough of this.

Anonymous email to the dealer with a link to this thread in it ;)

Oh and copy in SUK...

Does anyone have a good email address for Skoda uk? I can't believe this is representative of how they would like their customers to be treated...

YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT!!!!

No I'm not... The majority of cars don't have electric rear windows and we don't see kids jumping out of them... It's just something the OP's other half has got into her mind is a safety issue when it isn't... But he knows that I think... No need to shout, either!

L, after having read that post at the bottom of page 3, I think you have got to the stage where you either bite the bullet or walk away... Personally, after reading what you have said in that post and the way you feel about the dealer I'd walk, could you ever trust the company again?... Get your money back, and demand compensation for your trouble and interest for the time they've had the money... And start splashing it across the local press, BBC, etc., if they don't play ball.

It would be interesting to see how he reacts when you ask for compensation and interest...

Walking away would cost me an extra £2k or so as the vat offer has ended... Otherwise I absolutely would.

Really had enough of this.

I bet you have. Really feel for you mate. Hope you manage to get it sorted. I think its appalling that they've not been in touch, and as others have suggested I think this warrants a complaint to SUK however it gets resolved. Very poor service, especially since its their mistake.

lol pipsyp, beating the same old drum!!!!! How many times now??? :)

Banging the drum of sensibility mate and will continue to do so thanks.

I like Skoda's but i'm certainly no fanatic; I bought one because its a good car that ticked all our current requirements and offered alot of bang per buck; the performance element was the only emotional part of the purchase not because its a Skoda. I can happily say without the VAT deal we wouldnt have given it a second look so didnt want to make it more unneccesarily expensive than it already was.

Personally I think louisv6's car sounds of a very nice spec anyway; yes climate and windows are missing and very disappointing but it really doesnt have to be the end of the world. To save myself the pain of a 4-6 month wait for pretty much the same vehicle and to get some half decent financial compensation for the dealers mistake i'd happily take the car. I can guarantee the lack of climate and elec rear windows will pale into insignificance once you've gone for a drive!

Just read the whole thread - I think personally i'd take the car and a big whack on compensation for the problems casued by it.

Keep fit windows are difficult for children to open quickly, certainly too quick for them to open without you noticing. Climate is really only a pretty looking A/C system and how often will you use it? I know I don't use mine alot hence why I forgot to order climate on the new one but hey ho!

Take the car, get a sizeable discount and be happy you have a car - alot of people are waiting an awful long time lol

OK, dad. :p

OK, dad. :p

Not a problem son! :D

I feel for you.

I guess you spent a lot of time deciding which car you wanted and the spec it was gonna be. If it was me I'd take the car and compensation.

As for the safety aspect of leccy rear windows, I'd be more concerned the kiddies undoing their seatbelts. Plus you'd notice the windows opening straight away and you'd see in your side mirrors if any arms or legs were hanging out.

+1. I'd take the money and the car to be honest. Your good lady will be happy when you get her to the hospital is record time :)

Spoke to the Sales Manager again this morning after he failed to call me at the weekend as promised.

Their story has now changed once again.

They originally said:

- We can probably reduce the price for you.

They're now saying that's not possible.

They also originally said:

- We could register this car for you and let you drive it until your new one arrives.

- Then they said that would be too expensive because the car would depreciate too much.

- I pointed out that depreciation would be written off against tax if they register it as a demonstrator

- They told me that it costs them £700 in fines (?!?!) from Skoda UK if they change the name on an order (not convinced about this)

- They then said they could probably stick me in a part ex for a few months.

- Then they came back and said they can't do that either.

- I then suggested that if it's going to cost them £700 to sell that car to anyone else, that they may as well give me a £700 discount.

- Again, they came back and said they couldn't do that (without any explanation - just a flat "no").

So basically, I've got the wrong car, they've got £15K of my money, they've royally pi$$ed off both me and my pregnant wife, I'm driving around in a 1.2 Diesel courtesy car having sold my luxurious 6 cylinder Mercedes, and I've got to give that back soon, so I'm basically carless.

All of which is a great big F U, as far as I can tell.

Interesting approach to customer services, that. So I called Skoda UK today who were very pleasant and agree that this isn't the sort of customer service they expect from their representatives. The nice man said he'd phone the dealership for me and politely suggest they keep me happy - although whether that turns into anything or not, I don't know.

I've also been promised a call back from the Sales Manager's boss (the guy who keeps binning the Sales Manager's suggestions and is leaving me with no options).

I'm just about ready to tell you all which dealership to avoid in future, but I'll wait it out to see if they come good.

Stick to your guns - ask for at least that £700 and the car and walk away knowing at least you have a car. If you don't have it someone else will lol
