Yeti SE Plus

Hmm... Well I don't know.

I think it would be best to wait until a MY12 SE Plus actually turns up so I can physically check it and say 100% if it does come with it or not. Although, that seat must have a part number and I imagine it would be retrofitted also I suspect the cost would be fairly substancial.

Yes, AutoExpress is claiming...

SE Plus adds a multi-function steering wheel to all models, touch screen sat nav and Bluetooth to the Octavia, Superb and Yeti and climate control to the Fabia and Roomster.

SE Plus Octavias also gain rear-parking sensors and start from £16,365, while Superbs bag privacy glass from £21,350. The Fabia acquires electric rear windows and front seat storage boxes from £11,825. Skoda’s Roomster gains roof rails and 15-inch alloys from £13,560, while Yeti models acquire a CD autochanger, seatback tables and electric front seats from £17,410.

Skoda is also introducing two new SE Plus exclusive engines, a 1.8 TSI 150bhp for the Octavia, Superb and Yeti and an Octavia-bound 108bhp 2.0 TDI.

The 1.8TSI engine powers the Octavia to 62mph in 7.8 seconds while returning 40.9mpg and warranting £165 road tax (Superb 8.6 seconds, 39.2mpg, £190, Yeti 8.4 seconds, 35.3mpg and £245). The new 2.0 TDI returns 58.9mpg and 126g/km CO2 (£95 road tax) and saunters to 62mph in 11.0 seconds.

SE Plus models are available from 3 May.

So is the 1.8T being derated? I doubt it...

I would doubt that too since most 1,8 owners are asking for MORE power! But then it is an SE Plus exclusive engine so it just makes it a model below the normal 1,8. One can only but wonder as to why they want to make an engine MODEL TRIM LEVEL SPECIFIC! Weird.

Was also wondering about the detuned power output quoted for the 1.8tsi :wonder:

It's good of you to take an interest. However, it does seem extraordinary that Skoda UK cannot provide either dealers or customers with any information at all about details like this on cars that are now less than a month away from being built.

I have owned BMWs for many years and one becomes used to much higher standards of accurate information and customer service. Only today I was on the phone to BMW UK and they sorted out some complex issues with no fuss. It makes me question whether I want to get involved with Skoda at all.

This is not a criticism of any Skoda dealer, and certainly not James who does so much to help here.

I see they added a separate engine line in the Yeti configurator web page for this new engine, but performance is the same as the 160PS engine... I guess they just retested the engine and are claiming some new numbers (heh they transposed the urban and combined mpg numbers). Memo to marketing: "please check" :))

Edited by Totally Square

There is a 152PS version of the 1.8TSI; CDAB engine code and it's been fitted to the Yeti since November 2009, I believe in Russia. The 160PS version has the engine code CDAA.

But a folding driver's seat in the UK wouldn't be very much use, and Skoda may not think it cost-effective to make a foldable left-hand passenger seat just for the RHD market I guess?

Chris

I'm not sure that inspecting a MY12 car would settle the matter, since the folding front passenger seat has always been described as an option, not a standard fitment.

Do we really have to wait for the next brochure, or for all the glaring errors and omissions in the configurator to be fixed? Isn't there someone at Skoda UK who gets paid to do factory liaison?

We've debated the shortcomings of SUK's brochures, online Configurator and (out sorced) Customer Services an nauseam on here - with zero effect.

some of us have even had email interchanges with SUK's MD - p*ssing in the wind doesn't come close

So sad when we have such a great product and dealers!

All very nice but why would anybody buy a new car in 2011 without a DAB radio tuner? If FM gets switched off in 2015 as currently proposed then the depreciation hit of a car without DAB ie. no working radio, doesn't bear thinking about! Wake up Skoda (and Volkswagen group), if Ford and Vauxhall have the foresight to offer standard DAB then you might at least offer the option or even include in SE Plus!

Oooops

But perhaps it should be!

So now we know about the picnic tables.

But what about the "fully-foldable passenger seat backrest that enables the user to transport long objects", as announced by Skoda Auto here ?? Is it now clear that this will be not be coming to the UK? I need that extra load length and am delaying placing an order until there is clarity on this. I did phone Skoda UK a while ago and they had no information.

My Jan 2010 Yeti passenger seat will recline back far enough (not flat) to get some 2.4 metre planks in with the rear seat removed. They don't go into the footwell but go in just the same.

I got 4 packs of these home a few weeks ago1

Find a Yeti an get the tape measure out.

The 2015 date has slipped back because of problems, and in Wales the BBC are stating that more than two thirds of the country probably NEVER will get it!!

DAB......no thanks!!

And Post 2: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/158830-taking-long-loads-in-the-yeti/

And the hump that seat creates is not insubstantial!

Thought the Amundsen had temporarily been removed from the options list on models where its available as a factory fit add on ? Probably a knock on effect following Japan's troubles.

No, the Amundsen is just a rebranded VW RNS310, it's a Bluapunkt unit built in Malaysia, Japan has had no effect on production and for MY12 many VW and Skoda models will have it fitted as standard. The RNS315 is a 310 with Bluetooth and DAB but unsure if these are built in or external modules. Rumours are the Amundsen + is a RNS315.

Sticking with Skoda name instead of VW numbers I've used all the head units, if you spend a lot of time in your car and like your music then the best option is to have a Balero and MDI with ipod classic or external hard drive. The large 6.5" touchscreen makes navigating your way around your music easy. For SatNav I go for Tom Tom Live with HD traffic, nothing is better at routing you around traffic. The Amundsen is OK but the screen is a bit fiddly with MDI use, the Swing with MDI is crap.

Cheers

I can get my 8 foot 6 inch long rolled up dinghy sail in the yeti footwell by cranking back the passsenger seat, bit of a pain though as it has to be wound back and forth by hand using the adjuster wheel. Much better to have a fully folding seat with a single lever. S'pose you cant have everything.

Thought I'd share this with you.

As of today the SE Plus trim level is available to order, as the name implies this new trim sits between the SE and the Elegance.

You can have the SE Plus in any of the engine or gearbox combinations you like apart from the Greenline 1.6CR.

The SE Plus adds to the SE

  • Amundsen SatNav
  • Bluetooth
  • CD Changer
  • Picnic Tables on the back of the front seats for rear passengers
  • Net system below the parcel shelf

Seems pretty cool, I like the idea of being able to have Amundsen nav system, I've used it a fair bit on the Fabia and I like it. The only downfall is not being able to play a CD and use the Nav but on the SE Plus Yeti you have the CD changer and the Nav. Job done!

1.2 TSI 105PS - £17,410.00

1.2 TSI 105PS DSG - £18,560.00

1.4 TSI 122PS - £18,210.00

1.8T TSI 152PS 4x4 - £20,260.00

2.0 TDI CR 110PS DPF - £18,750.00

2.0 TDI CR 110PS 4x4 DPF - £20,500.00

2.0 TDI CR 140PS 4x4 DPF - £21,325.00

2.0 TDI CR 140PS 4x4 DSG DPF - £22,575.00

2.0 TDI CR 170PS 4x4 DPF - £22,160.00

I think the 2.0TDi 110 4x4 SE Plus really represents excellent value for money especially when a Nissn Qashqai 2.0DCi 4x4 n-tec is £24,045 and the Yeti is £20,500. Well done Skoda I think!!

Plus you can now get the 170CR engine in this new trim so you don't have to have an Elegance to have the 170CR engine.

Naughty James :wonder: - distinct favouritism towards Yetis. (Yetii?) SE plus has been launched across the range, yet you are only pushing it on the Yeti forum emoticon-0106-crying.gif

The rest of the Volkswagen group HAVE woken up!! DAB is available as an option of standard on the SEAT Altea, VW Golf, VW Golf Plus, VW Touran, VW Tiguan and Audi A3 just to mention the vehicles I have looked at as a possible replacement for my Octavia. If Skoda can't get their act together, I'll not be buying a Yeti despite it's other attractions...

Chris

What do they mean by electric front seats? By the fact it is plural I would assume( :giggle: ) they mean heated front seats, but this may have been covered earlier.

It's autoexpress, so it could be wrong.

I get the mag every week and do notice the odd slip up...
