Most insurers won't insure under 25s for mods......looks like it may be better to wait a couple of months. :(

im 24. 25 in april. i was thinkin that might have made a difference? might have to wait till then to fit it??

And from this thread

they wont insure me!!! what a ball ache!! thing is i have drove my car with it on now so if i deside to send it back my car will feel slow.

So you HAVE it fitted?

Assuming you still do, many thanks for helping all of us pay more for our insurance. My standard rant. If you can't/don't want to/won't pay for insurance, or can't get it with any modifications, DON'T DO THEM.

It's simply irresponsible to drive a modified vehicle without insurance. People who don't care about insuring their cars generally drive less safely. When they crash, which they WILL, the poor sod in the vehicle they plough into, assuming they are not killed, ends up bearing the cost of that uninsured driver's stupidity. Which is why we all pay so much extra year on year on year for our insurance.

And if you have taken the box off, then please, LEAVE it off until you have cover.

they wont insure me cause im under 25!! this is becoming a pain!

took it out for a blast

So, uninsured then?

I'm perfectly calm about the whole thing, but I'm afraid this (and untaxed, unMOTed vehicled) is the one thing that really gets on my t**s.

well im gona have to bite the bullet and live with my STANDERD furby till october. my insurence wont insure me with my tunning box, and they wont give me a big enough refund if i cancel my insurence, so there is nothing i can do :( very miffed about it to say the least! oh if your curious im insured with DNA :finger: insurence and will be till october and then never again!! this is a sad day for a 24yo who in the eyes of insurence will only become a safer driver when 25! oh well just gona pack up my dragon tunning box and say good bye, thank god for a money back guarantee!! the relationship was good why it lasted :( :( :(

big question before you take out any policy is "will you cover mods?" if they dont then try again.

As it happens insurance doesn't get much better until your over 30.

October is not really that far away, why dont you put the money you where going to spend into a savings account. Then you can do a few mod's in one go.

Mike - don't get too depressed mate. Best thing to do IMHO is to pack the tuning box away for the time being (but not send it back) and then start doing some serious homework on all sorts of insurance companies for quotes for now and for when you are 25.

Try buying some of the performance car / modding magazines and searching for insurers / brokers that specialise in young drivers & performance cars - you may not have heard of some of the names of the companies but you might get some surprising results. However, make sure you read the terms & conditions carefully on some of them before you sign up to something that looks very cheap (and ask for proof of who the insurer is). Good luck

Exactly the same boat as you, I saved a grand to have a tinker with my car but went searching for some insurance first and found I couldnt even get insured for mods anywhere... Accept adrianflux but it was very steep (again due to my age)

So ive decided to spend a grand on Ice for now :)

Wanna be insured - end of story there.

Below 25 means you get stitched up. Trust me - my Mrs is < 25 and I cannot afford to insure her on the Furby (!!) and that's a standard one as well, including NCB already.

You really don't want to drive around without insurance. You've no doubt saved hard to afford that motor and if you were to get involved in any form of accident, little or worse, you would be bankrupted pretty much, and probably end up driving the kind of car(s) I had to drive when I couldnt afford something nice.

I sincerely hope you'll find an insurer which will insure you with the mods at your current age, but if you don't, ask if you can get insured without that mod and slap it on on your bday - nice pressy then :D
