I am well tempted by this...

Can anyone tell me what mpg I could expect after a stage 1 map on an unmodified octy vrs mk1?

I'm going to be driving approx 3000 miles over a 3 week period in the summer and am interested if I can

convince 'her indoors' that this is a good idea.

I won't give you any figures as I have no idea but based on my experience of remaps (no experience of Shark maps yet but the feedback on here is good) on my fabia, your MPG for the first few weeks will likely drop as you'll have lots of fun booting it with you new found power

After time I saw an improvement in my MPG on a run as the car was a lot smoother to drive and you are "up to speed" on motorways etc that much quicker.

If it's any help, my wife used to hate driving my car with it's first (reasonably aggressive) map of 172BHP and after having a hybrid turbo and a map running 200BHP she commented how nice and smooth it was to drive which I am convinced is down to the style of the map.

Alternatively, just map it, don't tell her and see if she notices :wonder:

Just doing some very very rough "fag packet" calculations. Will the remap pay for itself?

Over time possibly. Over 3000 miles. I very much doubt it.

I did some calculations earlier in the week and at current fuel prices for a car currently doing 45mpg, if this increased to 50mpg then over 10k miles you will save £150 in fuel alone - this is before any increase in insurance premiums are taken into account.

I would think those sorts of figures would be achievable in a Diesel but the OP has a Mk1 Octavia vRS which has a 1.8t Petrol.

But the maths will still be the same - if you can get a 10% increase over your current mpg then you will save just under £150 (as petrol is a bit cheaper) per 10k

But you just aren't going to get a 10% increase on a 1.8t, you'll be lucky if you get any increase.

is the STS available on the fabia II vrs? I thought you had to remove the ECU to remap it... I may have missed developments, please correct meif I'm wrong.....

STS option not listed in the prices because it's not available, hence why we were asked to do a discount on just the map for those who can't use/don't want the STS

Is the MK1 Fabia VRS not a PD ?

Crikey I need this remap, drove an Astra 2.0T SRI today, and the vRS feels quite lethargic in comparison. Having said that, it wasn't me paying for the fuel so it was hitting the redline regularly! Big fan of it's 'Sport' button.

I knew the astra vxr was quicker but didn't know the Sri would feel faster as well. Damn! Bring on the remap

It's a smaller, lighter car, so I guess that helps. Doesn't mean I want one though, never been a fan of the Astra.
