How bitterly should I complain about Skoda build quality?

Featured Replies

After nearly five years and over 70,000 utterly incident-free miles, I have had a calamity happen.

Whilst putting a parking ticket in the little plastic bit on the windscreen, IT BROKE OFF!

I have draughted a letter to my MP, I'll be ringing Claims Direct as I might have sprained my little finger picking up the clip from the floor, and if Skoda don't instantly give me a new Scout, I'll see them in court and the world will know!

I bet a plastic lug holding the luggage nets will break soon. Well, in the next five years and when I am up to 140,000 miles anyway. Maybe.

ok

fair play

you got me....

Hope my will go the same distance and have the same issues.

Should be a national recall... clearly plastic fatigue... they could shatter at any moment and fly off inside the car causing untold mayhem...

Should have bought a Kia 7 years and 100,000 mile warranty

You are not alone in your digust over this plastic abomination, mine vibrated on the screen creating and annoying buzzing that could be heard constantly, I had no choice but to amputate the offending article!! Now where can I put my tickets.....? :(

Mine did too - replaced under warranty but I had to wait almost 20 minutes while they fitted it and was forced to drink a cup of coffee while I waited.

This is clearly a weakness in this model and am amazed it hasn't been the subject of a recall. After all imagine the mayhem should a ticket fall out of a weakened holder and wedge itself under the brake pedal :o

My god, that scenario hadn't even crossed my mind!! :o

Have you thought about rejecting the car? I would.

Lets take this to Watchdog, Ann Robinson here we come. Maybe we could get it on Rogue Traders fingers crossed.

Scrap the car, as it is not fit for purpose :)

Ah yes, I fear we are all doomed.

On the plus side, cleaning the windscreen inside is a darn site easier, so I shall not lob it over Beachy Head just yet.

Bloody hell - and to think I've been driving my son and fiancee around this death-trap waiting to happen..

I'm seriously looking at buying a Citreon or Peugeot - at least the worst thing on those are brake pedals which operate from the passengers side.

Amused!

In India however Skoda has the perception of building lemons! There are several posts on a popular forum called team-bhp.com, which out rightly cite Skoda build quality and After Sales Service as being the pathetic and worthy of hauling over coal.

To me it seems poor PR and social network based marketing management.

You should worry! I had a Rover coupe and the damn gearknob stopped playing opera after 6 months. And then, to complete my disgust, I came down one morning after about a year and found the car needed CLEANING!

Just think how bad it would be if the traffic warden gets his head there as well to check the ticket

TBH, this is a problem with most makes of car not just Skoda. VW only clean my car every 10,000 miles when it goes in for a service. Apparently if I want it done more often than this they would have to charge me!!!

I used my newly replaced ticket holder for the first time on Saturday.

Paid my £2 at the machine, slipped the ticket in (VERY tight fit!! No chance of that slipping out!) and set off for a walk around the park.

Passed an Audi TT with a big black and yellow striped plastic bag stuck on the windscreen. Looked inside as I passed, as you do, and saw his car park ticket face down on the dash. Oops! Bet he was a happy bunny when he got back!

One up for the "budget" end of the range eh?!
