Senna Movie

Featured Replies

Today I went to see the Senna movie. If the title does not do it for you then the film certainly will. It has never before seen footage, including Senna giving his opinions in the drivers briefing. This is not just for the boys either, my partner who puts up with my Formula 1 supporting really enjoyed it. All in all it is an emotional roller coaster and a fantastic film. The hairs on the back of your neck will definitely stand on end.

That man could make a car dance.

I was really sad I turned up 20 minutes early and sat right in the middle. Its the only film I have ever seen where the audience was brought to total silence.

sweet, I watched him, and wathed that fatal race (lets not forget rowland ratzenburger too) if its as good as you say (and the family surely wouldn't have sanctioned it if it wasn't) I wanna see it too!

just need to find someone to go with. :S

Just seen the trailer, now I want to go see it. Just got to see if any of my mates want to see it

edit: Just checked Vue's website and its not showing till 21st June at Blackburn, Bolton and Preston and looks like the only showing emoticon-0149-no.gif

I really want to see this as well as he is a true hero of mine.

When he was racing, I was never a fan of his, I always liked Mansell. However now Senna has gone, I can appreciate how good he was and have become a fan.

I did manage to acquire a copy a few months ago but really want to see it again. Think I'll spin up to Bridgend to see it when I get a chance.

Just been to see this fillum, and it's awesome. Very emotional and very clever how old footage has been edited together with voiceovers to produce a compelling portrait of a great man.

It's not a very good advert for the French however!

They're not showing it anywhere near me :(

Terrific film. Very emotional and very powerful. Excellent for a young F1 fan like myself who hasn't seen any of the older footage

I think you need a night out in manchester......showing several times a day, every day at the moment at the Cornerhouse.

It really is a stunning film - even after the film., nobody moved till nearly all the credits had done, and even then, only spoke in very hushed tones.Very moving stuff.

Just seen it this evening. As has been already said, its well worth seeing.

Watched this last night - fantastic. In car footage from Monaco '88 really shows his ability.

When it gets to the Imola '94 section with the 3 crashes (Rubens, Roland & Ayrton) - at each crash you could feel the whole cinema holding their breath, very emotional.

I saw it last night too. Was amazing how quiet the cinema was, not even anyone stuffing their faces with popcorn.

Dave's been mentioning this film consistently so, with your recommendations, I'm going to take him watching it.

Does it contain footage of his flying first lap at Donnington? Dave's told me this is considered one of the greatest laps in F1 history.

The Cinema version is about 1hr 30 or so, there's an extended version floating about 2hr42min ish.

I thought they might show the Donnington lap in the wet but it wasn't on it.

My only criticism about the film would be that they didn't show that much of Senna racing as some of his laps were just spectacular but that's a minor criticism as I was extremely impressed with the film and how well it was put together. I was envious of my brother's girlfriend who has only been recently dragged into F1 and knew nothing of Senna aside from he had died so the film was even better for her as it was all new.

I saw it last week and think it is a fantastic film, well worth seeing.

I can understand why Senna is so respected, hugely emotional film and some of the Senna quotes are brilliant.

Agree, it was very good. What a ledgend

Sadly there was just two of us in the cinema though!

Saw the film about a month ago just shows you how safety in F1 has moved on. The footage of Martin Donnelys crash where he ends up laying in the middle of the track in his seat is very moving also Ratzenbergers accident. I believe that some of this footage has never been shown before in such detail. Very moving piece of F1 history well worth seeing.

Yes, there was a lot, lot more to him than 'just' being a supreme driver. Its what in my eyes stands him above the likes of Schumacher, Alonso etc.

I find it sad when documentaries often lay a heavy focus on his aggression on the track. When in reality he was far fairer and less prone to hitting people than Michael or Lewis are and it was a tiny part of what he was and acheived.

A proper legend.

Just watched this tonight..

I'm one of those who knows a bit about f1 but not the details, partially due to being a relative latecomer to the sport and partially that it bored me up until recently lol.

This was an eye opener, very emotive in parts and some of the in car footage is mental!

Anyone who has any interest at all in motorsport needs to watch this.

Just watching this for the 1st time now and can't quite believe how much of a c**k Alain Prost is/was!!

Also amazing how Martin Donnelly survived his crash after being thrown from the car.

Yup, that was quite remarkable.
