New VRS Anygood

Featured Replies

Some of you have had your new VRS's a while now. So are they really any good, and what about the gearbox?

What option extra's would you suggest?

Cheers

I‘m happy with it so far and it‘s gonna get better with more tuning ;-).

Imo it‘s abit too silent...

I really like the sunroof, the bluetooth-connectivity and (for long journeys) armrest.

I would go for the headlight-wipers since they aren‘t standard in GB as I‘ve understood it.

I would skip the storageboxes below the seats and the sunglass-holder.

Never got why the fabia doesnt have Auto lights/wipers like the Polo/Ibiza has/can have..

I hate auto wipers and lights. I'm glad the car doesn't have it

i Love them :D I went from a car that had them to one that didnt and forgot to put my lights on before when I got in my car (only drove down the road.. i was like omg its so dark!?)

extras are all subjective.

when i test drove a vrs at local dealer the very first thing i noticed and hated was the armrest, got in the way of the hand brake. I would not have this option.

I love the arm rest in both my vectra and fiat stilo, the handbrake is blocked in the stilo but I still use the rest all the time.

I think I'll use the rest even more in the fab with it's dsg box.

I've also got the sunglasses holder ticked on my order, I hate my specs sliding about in the glove box or such.

Yes the vRS is very good car i love my vRS estate the engine is very good lots of power and the MPG is not to bad i am getting 42.8 with 1500 miles on it and that will get better the DSG gearbox is very very good but you need time to work it out interior is good it`s a very good car .

the options i had is curve projcetor headlights, headlight washers, climate control a/c, rear electric windows and rear parking sensors all very good options but next time i will go for the heated front seatsand cruise control

hope it help you out

Its a terrible car, the acceleration is atrocious.

I mean, it only does from zero to dealer in about 6 months

I don't own one but have driven one and it's a cracking wee car, at first I was a bit miffed with it having a DSG Gearbox and being petrol but it is so much more fun than the Mark 1 vRS and it's mega quick, thinking if I can afford one I will be the owner of a vRS in a couple of years time.

best car I've every had so far....

Im really happy with mine i cant believe how quick it seems compared to my old cooper-s and the gear box is awesome

..........or good in bed :giggle:

Drivers seat has an annoying squeak :S Apart from that I love it !! Tho I have never had a seriously quick car to compare it with..Prefer it to my last 3 Vauxhall Astra's ..Gsi/Vxr/1.6T Would prefer a slightly more free flowing exhaust/inlet..a bit quiet for my liking..

DSG is great now I'm used to it..very quick away from the lights

DSG is the future and the present! Car has multiple personalities, crazy and sensible all in one.

It's a very good car. Considering the complexities of the mechanical bits (twincharger engine, DSG, ESP with XDS), good build quality and lots of standard kit it represents superb value for money. In both hatch and (particularly) estate forms its also very practical. It's not all perfect though; if it werent for its clever stability electronics I dont think it would be capable of pinning its 180ps to the road; ESP cuts in alot in the dry, even more so in the wet and without XDS it would torque steer all over the place....I also dont think these electronics are 100% successful in reigning in wheelspin and torquesteer without impeding progress. Still it corners and stops well enough but would probably be a better car if it was based on the latest Polo chasis. It may not be as sharp as a Clio Cup but I know what I'd rather have as an overall proposition and for £14 - 15k you really cant grumble too much.

On a cheap car like this personally dont see too much point in going too heavy on the options list; car is very well equipped anyway and you'll never get anything back at trade-in time if you intend to chop the car in after a while but its all personal taste I guess. Personally I think colour and wheel choice are probably the most important options to consider.

Or you can go the other way, being such a cheap car with really cheap options, I've gone all the way with most options except for sunroof and the storage boxes - can't think where else to get a brand new car with 4 doors, this fast or with this level of equipment for well under 16k. just wish they could make it faster, 1.5 months down hopefully only 3.5 to go!!

A fully loaded hatch without a sunroof and storage boxes with the current 15% off deal is very nearly £17k. Our vRS estate cost just under £14.5k (luckily got in on the 20% offer) and still has a couple of nice options such as dark chrome wheels, parking sensors and rear leccy windows. I'm sorry but as nice as all the toys are at £17K personally I dont think even a vRS Fabia represents a bargain; i'd much rather make as bigger saving as possible and end up with essentially the same car.....if I were spending £17k I would have been looking at a completely different car.

What an odd thing to say that if it hadn't got all that it wouldn't be as good. A bit like saying "If the car hadn't got four wheels it wouldn't steer anywhere near as well"...

If you spend too much time reading threads on this forum you will think its a supercar slayer with astonishing performance that only real manly men dare try, fastest thing on four wheels probably and a remap makes them go so fast you actually go back in time plus they have so much grip you can actaully corner like one of those bikes out of Tron.

Applies to a lot of cars on many forums tbh. On Pistonheads a 335d (mapped) is the fastest thing ever and nothing can beat one. For what it is the vRS is a very capable car. Sure, as everyone keep saying the Clio RS200 handles better but it costs more, has less kit, two less doors, worse on fuel and may not be that reliable. Hot hatches are supposed to be cheap fun and the vRS is definately that.
