A Mufflerectomy!

Featured Replies

Going from my experience, i love it. Can hear the whistling owl noise that everyone says about and it sounds good rather than chavvy etc. Mine cost me £90 but may have been cheaper with a different style tail pipe etc. Wasn't a break the bank investment but the sound makes me smile every time i drive it!

Heres a few pics :

And a vid:

It's a short video anyway lol :(

Wiley, the pipe needs to have a bend over the rear beam and downwards for the bumper cutout. Speaking of cutout... YouTube electronic exhaust cutout. There's a great idea.

ROS53Y anychance of a vid opf the exhaust at the back of the car when being reved please, I'd like to hear what it sounds like.

It's not too loud when driving along is it as that's one of the reasons I got rid of the Mini, Weber carb + race exhasut = headache after 20mins

Done this just for you, its a video from inside the car with the boot open (explains the crashy sounds) but just on the latch and no back seats/parcel shelf so its like the back of the car is inside if you get me. from 1:02-1:05 I think im doing flat speed which shows you how loud it would be on a motorway at a constant speed. Enjoy.

Thanks very much for the vid, I do like the sound of that not too loud but makes a difference over standard.

Ok I am a bit confused about all of this what is the standard bore size if a Fabia exhaust and can you just cut out the backbox and replace with a pipe or will the whole exhaust need to replaced I want to do the mod but I don't want it done wrong but then I don't want to replace unnecessary parts of the exhaust

Thanks

Hmm after watching that video am not sure now.... :wonder: much food for thought!

That sounds rather loud to me, mine isn't that loud.

If you listen from 1.20-1.50 on this video it gives you a good idea of how loud mine is on full chat. This was with the rear seats out though, I normally have them in so its quieter.

Right so ive got a cat back exhaust, all I need to do is take the back box out, replace with straight bit of pipe dame bore as the rest of it, and I can keep my tail pipe, I don't have to use the duel or single tail back?

just did my own last week, cost me £10 for some pipe

Dear god those sound horrendous :(

I've still to hear a DERV that sounds as nice as a petrol.

Though in N. Ireland Boras, Leons and Toledos slammed on their arse with rep VAG wheels and a straight through exhaqust from the manifold are everywhere and all make this noise. So its considered a bit of a joke over here.

Google "Felt Spec" and you'll see what I mean.

lol just had a kwik look and they look stupidly low, it always cracks me up when you see citroen's/pugs dumped down on the lowest setting on the rear beam for ''looks'' dont they think about handling emoticon-0114-dull.gif

Exactly! That's why I don't want it lol

Im starting to get put off it now. On some it sounds like something has broken. Think I might just stick with my wee little spool up whistle from my blueflame

I've still got my cat and it def has no turbo owl noise and isn't that loud at all. If anything I'd wish it was louder. The end pipe was £20 from ebay and the length of pipe was £20, that was my only cost, plus a bottle of whisky for my welder pal.

They are stupidly laughable in places... cut springs in most cars, torsion bars down as low as they can on 14" crappy wheels.

They've even started lowering most other cars lower at the back than the front to get the "arse down" stance....

EUGH.
