Adam can't you buy A uniroyal for the spare & use the dunlop off the spare on your alloy wheel? :S Or is the steel spare a different size

imo i would have just got a decent tyre and decent make, but if u like dunlops

I really would caution anyone thinking about putting Dunlops on their car against it and suggest you see a psychologist for your masochistic tendencies.

They are hatefull and realy no use outside of possibly endurance racing on a track after warming them up properly

:giggle: at Can ;)

Spare is a 15 mate :)

Hi Adam, sorry to hear you've had a problem with your brand new monte emoticon-0106-crying.gif, a puncture how many miles did you get on it ? I had a blow out on the A14 near cambridge I have continentals on mine but there were non available, so had to put bridgestone on, £149 shocking ive a bridgestone on the spare 15" but will change to a full size as I could feel the car crabbing on the road, so going to get a full size on it, once again sorry m8 Oh and dont stop posting take no notice of these noobs, they will get there's pretty soon :giggle:

Just checked mine and i have Continentals.

If you got it from the dealer i think you did i would defintely have a call around yourself. I gave up on them in the end trying to sort out a reg transfer and some other things. I am refusing to ever go back there even for servicing.

Why can you just put a different make on and bite the bullet and change the opposite side as well if you are so inclinded.

Plenty of good choice in this size, i use toyos and goodyear F1 on the impreza. Always found them to be good.

So basically what has happened here is that Skoda are selling a vehicle for which a critical consumable spare part is not available.

Anyone with an unrepairable puncture will have to buy a pair of tyres from a non Dunlop source.

This will need addressing and fast.

Should Monte owners lobby Customer Services UK?

Tony :o

I would personally just buy a pair of something else, and flog the other good tire.

If they are that rare in the uk, chances are someone else may need one.

To be fair to Skoda they don't say that you have to fit a replacement of exactly the same make and type, just that it should be compatible... Tyre manufacturers change their tyres pretty regularly, I know when i had my original Fabia each time I changed them (Conti Ecos) Continental had changed the specs for the tyres... As others have said just get a tyres of the same spec from a different manufacturer, or two if you are that worried...

I don't think its fair to blame Skoda, though!

A quick web search shows plenty in stock. Why you would go to a dealer for a tyre is beyond me.

Not sure people are reading here

"Already have one on order" and it will be with me Monday not from a dealer from my Uncle whos a tyre distributer in Scotland. I'm not blaming Skoda i'm just saying poor choice of tyre to put on a car if there is none in stock. More to the point, I hardly want 2x dunlop on the front and 2x something else on the back on a car thats done UNDER 100 miles...

Anyway, end of thread. Thanks all.

they are in stock. Plenty of places on net can get them, there is one on ebay and also skoda don't just sell to UK so I am sure that there is stock everywhere tbh. Its a poor choice of tyre on the other hand simply because its rubbish.

I had to have a new tyre on mine after 3k and nowhere did the sport contact 2 so had to have a sc3, hardly a major deal tbh.

Ooooh

C**p happens, that's why there are loads of cars around with different tyres on the front to the back and loads with different tyres on the same axle... You are not racing or rallying the thing so, quite honestly, in everyday driving it will make no difference whatsoever as long as the two tyres are of the same spec.

Sorry, but "mountain out of molehill" springs to mind.... and if the thread heading isn't a veiled criticism of Skoda I'll eat my hat...
