VRS - rear bang / noise

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Driving today and getting an intermittent banging / knocking noise from what seems like the rear offside suspension. Very disconcerting but driven about 90 miles and will go for quite a while without making any noise.

Any ideas? Can't replicate the noise by loading the suspension when stationary.

Did drive a particularly bad / uneven country road yesterday. Nothing loose in the boot before you ask :)

Cheers,

N.

Check the exhaust heatshield - could be the culprit.

check rear coil springs, also heard of bottom shocker bolts working them selves loose

Free hammer on it's way

That has happened to me, I hadn't a clue what it was, although I wouldn't call it a loud banging. The garage doing the MOT found it was the shield. I used 2 small tie-wraps to hold it up and both are still there in one piece, not melted.
