Daylight running lights

Featured Replies

Took delivery today of a Fabia Estate TSI 105 SE DSG and noticed no DRLs were lit.

When I look for the switch by the fuses there is no switch, just a hole where it should be.

Has anyone who has recently taken delivery found this? (The salesman omitted to tell me about it.)

I will be giving a report on the car when I have had it a few days.

Aye im 99% sure my car has them but they're switched off

My dads 105 TSI Elegance DSG were switched off on delivery(APR 11), but he does have the switch and now they're on!

Mine were also switched off on delivery(Jul 11).

Mine were off on delivery and I have left this way.

However the switch is fitted and I checked the DRL work.

I thought now a legal requirement for them to be fitted.

If the switch was missed at the factory I would have expected this to be on the quality check list to be picked up and also on PDI list for the dealer.

Please post the dealers response when you report to them.

I dont think a lot is checked on the PDI, my car was delivered with different alloys on the left to the ones on the right...

I was given a copy of the PDI and it says "All switches, electrical consumers, sockets, gauges and other controls:check function" as one item on the list.

Re the wheels Adam, it says "Check tyres and wheels for damage"

you say that you dont have the switch, thats because you have an se not a monte, elegance or vrs , you have to spec the front fogs I think they may be in the headlight?with your model

My SE has front fog lights and DRLs. I have only seen DRLs on cars with the front fogs fitted. Mine are switched on.

I suspect that you are correct with this. The DRLs are normally part of the fog light assembly on Skoda's (except for the Octavia VRS which has seperate DRLs and the Fabia VRS where the DRLs replace the fog light assembly). You will therefore only have the DRLs if you have the optional front fog lights.

Note that DRLs are only mandatory on new models and not all new cars, so Skoda do not need to fit them on the Fabia.

you will have then if fogs are specced when you purchaseemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Not yet, only brand new models designed and introduced after Feb this year are required to have them fitted, although they are as yet not required to be on. Older cars such as the current Fabia, Octavia, Superb, Yeti, Roomster do not even need to have them fitted as they were introduced before Feb this year.

Certain Countries on the Continent insist you drive with them or dipped headlights, though, so take car and check up before you travel...

Had my DRL's switched on today by the garage :)

Very much doubt it, would be so little you wouldnt even notice it

LEDS on the vRS use about 8 watts ? Surely no saving there.... ?

Had mine on the VRS switched on all the time from new. My thoughts are;

Look good

Really annoying when you get the occasional idiot going barmy thinking they are fog lights.

May just be me but on the motorway it feels like you get noticed sooner by lane hoggers and they pull over!

Not yet been pulled over.

Hopefully the 'pulling over' thing will stop as more cars are fitted with them
