My Rs Performance Update No.1

Featured Replies

Well, before the remap something had to be done with the exhaust. So courtesy of a fellow member I have a new one fitted.

The sound is sooo much better than the stock jobbie :D

Before you say anything, I know its a bit wonky at the moment will get that fixed at the weekend once I have a new gasket that goes between the manifold and the downpipe. The original just disintigrated.

So here it is, complete miltek stainless system inc. Sports cat.

And I kept the old system for posterity.

Jabba remap being done tomorrow, cant wait.

Recycling at its best! :D

Looks lovely though

Hangs better on yours than on the previous owners car :D

Nice one Manny.

How easy was it to fit?

I think in the pic of the old back box one of the pipes look as if it had to be cut (with any angle grinder by the looks of it).

Notice any difference in performance?

Cheers.

Adrian.

nice one manny!

come the remap, your car will be transformed, that i can promise you. :D

looks good manny.... and in the best colour:D

paul, is yours corrida or rally red?

at the the risk of potentially offending, was not too keen on corrida red - looked a little too dull imho.

I took it down to the local tyre/exhaust centre (Not kwik fit) where I know most of the people that work there (beein using them for years). Didn't seem to difficult from where I was watching (about 3 feet away). The old exhaust has to be cut to get the thing off where it goes over the rear axle. They used a oxy/acetaline torch. It was done in such a way that the old one can be re-used by using sleeves and clamps to put it back together.

Performance wise, well it sure feels quicker than when it went in. Will be interesting to see the before dyno plot tomorrow to compare with the one a few weeks ago.

Cool!

A red colour debate; a bit different from the usual Black vs. Silver one.;):D

I prefer the Corrida; find it deeper (man).

Cheers.

Adrian.

Excellent stuff Manny!

If it feels quick now wait until tomorrow.:D

Unfortunately I'll have to wait until next year to get the sports CAT; would have been nice to get the complete system ready for the remap but...........

I'm assuming that the Jetex system will connect ok to the Milltek CAT.

Look forward to hearing your rempa news tomorrow.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Looks good manny, hope all goes well tomorrow at Jabba - will be expecting a full report...

mine didnt feel quick straight off but it defo does now... seemed to take the ecu a little time to get its head round it? or was it just the newness of the system...?

Dont think its down to newness, if anything the system is well worn. TaviaRS coulld throw a little light on the subject as it was previously fitted onto his 96k miles RS

Paul,

how many miles did you have on your RS before fitting the new system? What's the mileage now?

May be it still a case of loosening up 9the engine)? I've now done almost 15k miles since new (Sept 02) and found the engine is now nicely loosened.

Cheers.

Adrian.

800:D

1700;)

who knows...?

Manny hope everything goes well tomorrow, you know how the RS is going to go after the remap. ;)

:D

New set of brakes anyone. :D

335mm drilled and groved ? yes pls..

Went out for a spin, and its definatly quicker. its been raining and it seems way to easy to get loads of wheelspin, in several gears even when already in motion.

Only 3 things to fix

1) the gasket between the manifold and downpipe

2) the rear mount keeps slipping and causing the silencer to bash the heatshield, I dont think its going to come off, its just annoying. The mount has a threaded hole, so I may just find an appropriate bolt/washer and bung it in.

3) at about 4500rpm the note from the exhaust is just about right to cause a rattle from the front dash area somewhere, quickly stops as revs rise.

Des, I think I know what kind of remap I need. According to Jon I need yours :)

My map is a trade secret if I tell you I will have to kill you. ;)

PS Mike has the map saved under my reg.

Have fun Des

Whats your reg?

P1KEY? ;)

:D

Manny, I now know which mount you are talking about

Yes, it did have a bolt and washer in it. I thought H&S had screwed it back in, explains why I never had that problem.

Its probably on their workshop floor, sorry :(
