It comes in threes normally.....

Well the eagle eyed would have spotted the first prang in this photo I had posted before:

A motorbike clipped me in heavy traffic in Coventry coming towards a roundabout when I went to get the winter tyres. I thought he just touched my glass and he sped off anyway. But look just ahead of my fuel flap....... A HUGE gash. emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Then less than a week later I go shopping with my mum to IKEA and two different retail parks to come back to the car with a gash in the rear bumper from a trolley. No note on the car... It is not huge and when the car is dirty it just looks like a bit of dirt.

And yesterday....... Came to the car and the right front had been grazed by a red car. A gash right into the black of the bumper, and scratches all over the corner......... emoticon-0106-crying.gif Again no note on the car. Just missed ripping the Park Assist eye clean out of its socket.

Not ONE of these things I had any fault in the matter.... And my car is not even a year old. I'm not happy. And I normally park away from the most congested parking spots too specifically to avoid this sort of thing!!!

Really sorry to hear your news Johann, it really goes to show how inconsiderate a nation of people the UK are becoming!

I hope you manage to get the damage repaired, I read somewhere that the plastic bumpers can be repaired by the mobile scratch and dint repairers, the warm the plastic and smooth it over then replace the pattern, I haven't seen this done though.

Sorry to hear about your Yeti getting damaged. I too have had some sort of mark on the bumper from the 1st week of ownership, and it does look like a bit of dirt(no idea who or what caused it?)

I will have to pay someone to sort out the dent in the rear wheel arch before the lease ends in 2013.

Thanks James the first :giggle:

The rear bumper does not look too bad but it is deep. So I'm not sure the smoothing process will work. I've been too sick about it all to even take photos. And you lot know how I love taking photos! :giggle: (My latest baby camera just turned over 10,000 pictures this past weekend in Stockholm and the previous two did about 30,000 photos each!) Both bumpers should be easy enough to do by Dentmasters at al, but the rear wing is a proper bodyshop job at some point.

Bu99er :(

No one to take to task either - that must be really annoying!

Hi Johann,

very emoticon-0106-crying.gif to hear your Monster has been in the wars and likewise park away from others where I can but even in a half empty car park someone always parks right next to you (and as close as possible :swear: ) These drivers must suffer from some herding affliction like sheep :wonder:

Regards,

TP

Thanks Tim.

And this is EXACTLY what happened yesterday. I parked well away and when I came back a red Beetle had parked right next to me with its driver's door next to mine. Eh?!!? WHY make it difficult for yourself to get out and risk scratches too?!!?!? But it was the opposite corner that had the red scrape so I know it was not said Beetle UNLESS they circled the Yeti before parking............

I'm sure you must be sick but the plastic bumper shouldn't be too big a problem, some of the guys doing repairs on them are very good. I badly damaged the plastic bumper on my RB5 reversing out the garage, I say damaged, it looked like a Sabre Toothed tiger had attacked it. Put it to the Plastic Doctor in Glasgow and could not see the repair, I actually checked the other side incase I had the sides mixed up, I swear he changed the whole bumper, The 4 large gouges were gone and the paint job was perfect. :smirk:

Sounds promising. Only problem is with the Yeti's rear bumper being black you can't "hide" such a repair behind paint!

The front bumper should be fine and I'm not worried about that being an issue.

I like to think that I treat people the way I would like to be treated. These days though it appears that nobody considers anyone else or the cost/inconvenience they might have caused. Sorry to hear about the damage. Know how I'd feel.

Chin up Johann. Grrrrrrr though. I once watched a girl rattle a door in a Tesco car park, she knew she'd damaged the car as she checked it, I left her number on the windscreen on the car she'd damaged. I hope they gave her something to consider. Nothing worse than coming back to your car damaged by someone without care. Happened to me in the past, sorry old chap.

Thanks. At least it is still running. On leaving notes I saw this on the web once. Love it! He hit a car, left a note so everyone around him thought "what a nice man", BUT look what he wrote on the note!!!

Bless. He can't spell "write" either!

This is why I have cameras front and rear.....

Sorry to hear about your absent escapades.

Or 'accidentally'. May he have a long and happy life - not!

The rear wing might just come into the works done by

Chips Away

"we spray the dent not the whole wing", or in my case door, aways worth a quote.

Had a key scratch along rear door and wing, on a Saab 2 years ago, £120 complete, quote from bodyshop to spray 2 wings over 400 quid.

Thanks. I'll investigate all avenues at some point. For now they will just have to stare me in the face every time I use the car. emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Sorry to hear that. I am sure there are high street bodyshop who could do that.

However, you might saw a scruff adds to the character? I had my wheel arches (both dront ones) dented by cars opening their doors and subsequently fitted the wheel arch trims, might worth the investment?

Yep had this happen twice earlier in the year in the space of a few weeks. The second incident they did leave a note and number and beleive it or not they actually paid up on the damage!!!! I also go out of my way to park as far away as possible away from other cars, but still find when I come back that some bugger has parked next to me, even when there are other huge spaces free!!! Really bugs me when that happens!!!

My passengers always thought I was mad for parking so far away from the entrance to a supermarket or out-of-town shopping centres or IKEA!

Not had much luck myself with chips away; asked them to look at scratches (no more than 4" long but down to base coat) on two previous cars but on both occasions they told me to take it to a body shop on assessment :S

Chipsaway are a franchise and I'm afraid are not consistent with their service!! The first time they were great and the last time a Gorilla with boxing gloves could have done a better job!

Better an honest refusal than accepting the job and **** it up.

I guess the language police does not like roosters?

Feel for you Johann, my partners Yeti was driven into today on a roundabout, and the person who did it drove off. Not the worst damage (nearside wing scratched and dented and bumper scratched) but still a PIA. Reported to the police and hopefully the CCTV will of picked up the person who did it.

Two of my daughters witnessed a woman in a 4x4 drag a mini accross a car park by it's bumper, and then calmly drive away.

However they took the reg number and phoned the Police, one daughter has already given a statement, and the police are coming later this week for a statement from the other one. I understand the court hearing is soon. So Cheshire Police will do something about these things..

Be interesting to attend the court and see what excuse is offered - though reading between the lines I suspect drink may have been involved....

What I find from experience is that if the damage is very minor, the drivers are likely to let it go.

I remember when I drove my banger Mondeo a couple of years ago, it was windy and my door slammed the pickup that parked next to me, I distinctly remember it to be a new-reg (at the time) commerical Toyota Hilux, it actually dented the rear quarter by the tail gate a bit, when I went to speak to the driver who was in the car, he just said don't worry about it....which was nice of him! Since then a lot of care has been put into opening doors!
